yeah, only 2 person in the entire animeshrine does not understand the joke. You and Stormy. Go figure. Heck, it's not even that hard to understand. Some of my friends who are not even fans of japanese animes find this funny as hell
No man, it is parody of current culture of Japan that I miss a lot. I mean do you actually get the Tommy Lee Jones joke in ep 11? Or Master Oyama reference?
And 1st ep 10 min monologue on how to eat chocolate pastry actually funny?

Its not meant to be funny per se. Its just slice of life...makes you go "AHhhhh i sometimes think of that too!". Also when Kosaka looks up at the clock after "Who Wants To Be A mIllionaire" cuts to commercial thinks "Not much time left ....guess she lost" occured to me before as well.
But granted i never got the Tommy Lee Jones joke either. But it doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment though.

it never meant to be "Holy Shit THIS IS FUNNY STUFF !111". It meant to be "lol, this reminds me of me and my friends talking about random stuff" funny

Nah, I am not pissed, but I do believe a good comedy anime that has more accessible jokes. Lucky Star is now bordering on self indulgence and those massive marketing of Haruhi did not help. Hence I find more amusing people who did not get the punchline actually liked the anime. This world never ceases to amaze me.

like I said, there are no punchline to this anime. And when you said "more accessible", do you mean from a jap point of view or a non jap? while I do agree that hyping haruhi is a tad too extreme, it has more everyday, about nothing scenes. And that IMO what ppl like about this anime. It does not try to be funny, it just try to be itself. Where friends talk among themselves about nothing much when they have free time, about family, about being a student, and most of all, about living lives to the fullest.

Well that depends on your definition of a good comedy anime. To draw parallels to live action comedy, there's the parody "Movie" series which brings you movies like the Scary Movie series, and recently Epic Movie. There was a Love Movie or something as well...forgot the title. I was watching Epic Movie yesterday (its quite crap compared to Scary Movie) and I got alot of the jokes (lame or otherwise) which requires you to have watched the movies they were based upon and an understanding of American english for the puns and in-jokes. That said, I caught most of the jokes but my ahbeng colleague fell asleep as he didn't catch most of them. Same could be said for Shrek. Ah Beng colleague didn't know all the english nursery rhymes and stories thus it wasn't so funny to him. He definately didn't think it was good.
Its whether you get it or not. Dont force yarself to watch it. I guess this anime is like Haruhi Suzumiya, most people said ' its teh best of 2006 ' while some disagree.

As good as it is i'd disagree too. Code Geass clearly the best, and the Tokyo Anime Award proves it.

QUOTE
The main character, Gorō Mutsumi, has no luck at all, not with jobs, nor with his schooling, and especially not with women or girlfriends. That is until the day he meets a fortune teller who informs him that he will have a fateful encounter and gives him a cell phone with which she promises his luck will change for good. Gorō does not believe her as she just vanishes as he remembers all of his previous times of bad luck with women.
It is then seen that he meets three girls who are waiting for him back at his apartment. They say they are now his Guardian Angels, sent to Earth from the spirit realm by the Goddess. They are the first three of his twelve beloved pets who had died due to Gorō's poor luck to return to him on earth. Soon after more and more of his former pets return to him as guardian angels, and each desires to be seen as number one in his heart, as his favorite pet. Each also has fears which they must overcome, fears from their past lives, for to overcome them and to learn to live with each other as one big family is the only way they will ever stand a chance of helping Gorō turn his life around and gain some good luck that his life was missing.
