QUOTE(KenC @ Apr 18 2019, 02:14 PM)
Mine is Cigna, 3 speed stormy Archer. Very nice for under 5km flat rides . In progress to put battery on this one too.
I dunno why the change but the seller said he is clearing all his Brompton and clones for smaller, lighter , with more gears Trinx 16", can do both long and short rides.

I seen some 412 with 16" 349 wheel, but frankly it will defied the purpose as the wheel is determining the overall size of the folding package.
I am running 45t front 9t behind and this will give me 22kmh at 60 rpm cadence.
I find this combo quite good, but when it comes to hill climb you will have to stand up and cycle.

I got another 3 speed 412 which i find it perfect if you are anticipating hills, but the final weight is around 8.1kg

Generally for the intent and purpose a 412 is really good enough, i average around 15km to 20km per day city ride and it is comfortable

QUOTE(BOTAK_WAI @ Apr 23 2019, 01:27 AM)
412 always 14"? can mod to 16" and will impact the size a lot or not?? what's ideal gear inches for such single speed bike?

I agreed 200%, tern dahon brompton have very very stiff handlepost and frame. the handlepost is extremely important parts of the bike.
So if you are choosing a folding bike make these 2 component your priority

As for other less known china brand, you need to use your judgement couple with your budget, a used dahon or tern won't be very wrong.

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ May 1 2019, 10:08 PM)
for me, imho
i like to choose based on wobble/less freeplay on handlepost/frame. u cant go wrong with dahon/tern since both brands are good in building frame with many years of expirience.

i didnt say other brand are not good. java for example, also a good frame. too many choices nowdays on folding bike, just fix ur budget and ur good to go. the key different on folding bike nowdays i saw is groupset/gearing, but that thing u can upgrade later. so, it is good for you to choose good frame rather than good groupset.

about the weight, my bike also didnt get lighten. my tern already 10.25kg, and my doppel is 9.5kg. for me weight is just a number, just enjoy a good frame without worry. good frame with less flex give u expirience riding it like normal bike.anyway, just check regularly any flex on ur bike by tighten the folding part.

for foldable priced below rm1k, its a good start but not the best. try to scout china brand bike like trinx, java, xds or raleigh. those 4 brands also good if ur on tight budget.

QUOTE(northernhero @ May 7 2019, 09:38 AM)
Hi all,

Is Raleigh UGO still a good buy?

I saw 1 listed for RM880 new.

Or should I get a used Tern C7 at RM1000?

Thanks.

Once on FB I proposed a 16" but Joshua Hon from Tern, reject it outright. it is kind of sad, even with a 349 wheelset, this fold design can have plenty of potential. at it current state with 20" and given the price and complicated fold, i am not even remotely interested.

QUOTE(azamunekurone @ May 30 2019, 08:05 AM)
if this bike is 16", definitely Brompton killer i would say. this design is very good, and of coz more compact if 16"

condition ur butt. but i see the angle of saddle is a bit off, tilt forward a bit?

QUOTE(SkyHermit @ Jun 9 2019, 01:56 AM)
Bought my first folding bike just now (Dahon Boardwalk D7)
[attachmentid=10261460]

It is great and accelerate fast but ass is pain after sitting for long time as the saddle is thin and hard. Anyone here has changed their saddle on their Dahon before? Or does it need to take time for my ass to get used to Dahon's saddle? I would like a wider seat that has more cushion.
