not bad for the price.

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Mar 27 2018, 03:24 PM)
very limited choice of folding bikes at my LBS that fits my budget of < RM1000

Anyone riding a Polygon Urbano 3? hmm.gif

Saw one selling at Sports Direct @ RM999

Kinda considering it now
How much you bought it? and how's the ride?
Also very tempted to buy a 2nd hand SAAB brand from the Jap 2nd hand junk shop for only RM200, but the repair gonna cost me a bomb laugh.gif
The frame is unique tho, but almost most of the parts need changing doh.gif

Can search BBS. Type cigna/3sixty/etc (i dont remember all their brand's name). Online, there's always taobao.

My LBS got sell Cigna. Those clones are normally priced around 2K++.

Bike in that range all are alike. but i think for that price, i would go for used japanese bike instead of a new folding bike. 300 to 500 end of the day you are buying something disposable when you grew out of it.

rule of thumb a folding bike must be of good quality otherwise it is a hassle owning them if you do not know how to maintain it. I got brompton it seems holding up well with minimal maintenance, but my Fnhon after a ride in rain need to clean and lube all the joints otherwise will have sound.

Had a chat with bike mechanic bout this issue, he says two possibilities :

1) Chainring doesnt look as rigid due to very thin and light..higher pedal load may flex it and some chain rub noise. Sounds plausible to me, but certainly doesnt feel in buffiness like the shimano road cranks.
He reason u don't see Shimanos making this kinda light and thin cranks, if it works well..it would have been done and marketted....hmm.
2) My back hub is actually busted, and the cogs actually sway in motion when the wheel spins. Didnt aware that cogs could actually goyang around..likely the cup cone bearings is unseated, thus imbalance.

Gonna do a wheelset change this weekend, and hope the whirring sound is due to my back hubs. If not, will be pulling hairs again.

After the short period of a few years owning a foldie..sometimes i wonder if i should just ditch it, as there seem so many maintenance and problematic issues arised off and on.
Frame creaking, handlepost getting loose, drivetrain weirdness ...sigh...starting to wear me off.

Owning a MTB has been rocksolid without facing much issues.

But , i like riding and owning a foldie...hahaha....hence soldier on..

if u ask me, if u commute multi mode, ie, train + ride, brompton is the best. for 50% of the price you can get dahon curl, which is equally compact and easy to push around.

but if your multi mode is car +bike, any folding bike is the same. in fact those 451 wheel bike is much better.

hi guys, long time no post,

I am inclined towards getting a 14" wheel folding bike again toying the idea of bringing it overseas.

i still have my fnhon which has becoming my favourite bike despite having a brompton.

still if you ride overseas, you want to be able to lock the bike outdoor without worrying it being stolen, trust me you won't be able to do it safely with a brompton.

still my fnhon do not have the portability after folding compared to brompton however if you are willing to dismantle the wheel and handlepost it will be to be very portable.

what is your view on a 14" single speed fnhon?

suspension is not necessary, folding bikes are for urban area anyway so suspension will only add unnecessary weight without much help.
