Resellers always give wrong info on warranty coz they rarely deal with warranty. If you give a call to HP, you will know that warranty only can be upgraded within 90 days upon purchase. I had confirmed this.

Warranty is best purchased from HP Online Store. I did the same for mine notebook in the 2nd month after purchase.

They give on-site and carry-in for Pavilion series. Call them to know more.

I opt for the no on-site pack for RM 199.

Kinda tight on budget that time. Anyway I dont think HP pickup and return service is as efficient as DELL. So I better send it to HP Tower myself since I live in KL.

I see....so the extra RM110+ between two pakage is only the on-site pickup..? Both is complete cover too as Dell's service..? Yeah...send to nearest Hp service centre or Hp tower would be better...just in case you're not free or busy with work...subscribe to on-site pickup care plan is good too...

Your extended care plan had been activated already..? Started from the day after your 1 year warranty ended..?

Thanks bro...really appreciate it..  notworthy.gif

I'm not sure though...i think so....but Dell complete cover on-site pickup seems to be more expensive....right..?
*
DELL CompleteCover is the most comprehensive warranty scheme so far. HP does not cover as much as Dell does.

hmmm. that might probably cause me to change my mind to 6174. but i just found out last night like i mentioned earlier that that 6174, although core 2 duo, only has a TFT lcd compared to 6227 which has a HD lcd and also comes with vista premium. im guessing it would be more advisable to stick to 6227?
*
You might have mistaken sth. TFT is the type of LCD while HD defines the resolutions.
All Pavilion DV should have the same type of LCD, that is WXGA TFT-LCD. Take 6174 if you can afford it.

you're comparing DV6227 and DV6174 issit..? both is retail unit..? or 6227 is retail while 6174 is refurbished..? DV6174 for RM4499(retail unit) is not retail unit in my mind..? Promotion is going on..?
*
The 6174 should be a refurbished coz it has everything(spec and platform) the same as my 6126TX which was obsolete few months ago. Even the Windows is still a MCE. Get 6174 if you want XP instead of vista.

For the refurbished unit...can we send it to local Hp service centre..? My nearest Hp service centre assume that they'll not accept any refurbished HP laptops as well as compaq too....if so...where could we send it to..? Is it suggested to get refurbished laptop.?

Thanks. notworthy.gif

You mean HP service center or normal HP distributor. You better confirm with them or call HP.

the other models that only come with MCE are upgradable to vista premium for free (according to them, logging onto hp website, entering ur details and they'll ship over the cd). sounds kind of dodgy to me. and those that came with vista basic (6174) are not upgradable to vista premium.
*
MCE can be upgraded to Vista Premium for free exclude shipment fee of 19.99 USD. Anyway. The upgrade offer was ended sometime ago after I got my vista DVD kit. The upgrade is not dodgy at all.

anyone tried the recovery cds before, i suddenly have a question..

when i do recovery, will they delete all my data files??

I'm planning to do 3 partition with 2 back up data drives, will the recovery disk merge them back together and reformat it?? anyone know this?
*
I did recovery before. All data wiped out and everything back to factory state. Tell me if you have done your partition, I want to do that too.

How about Zoom in and out..?

Btw....about Hp care pack extended warranty....that's registered under laptop owner's name....? Or serial number of the laptop?

If i send my laptop to serivce centre....i've to show up my personal particular such as I/C to prove as the owner of the laptop being?

Thanks.
*
Warranty is registered under notebook serial number. You can have your notebook sent for warranty by a third party. In addition, you can claim ownership by registering your notebook under your name at HP website.

i dont think any anti virus is 100% better than the rest, but Avast(in my case) found a hell  of a lot of viruses that norton simply did not. rclxub.gif  shocking.gif

so i figured, why bother with norton when avast is more effective(so far) and is completely FOC?) smile.gif
*
I personally did not encounter such problem. Web cam can be started anytime in My Computer, under My Scanner and Camera.

For anti-virus, there is a Active Virus Shield from AOL powered by Kaspersky. I found it quite good. No infection so far, all threats were successfully neutralized.

Wow. good to have friends inside HP. I got mine from HP employee purchase at price 1k less than market price last time. However he is not my friend, and earn quite an amount by selling to me.

Here is my Vista upgrade pack. Looks pretty simple, 2 DVDs + booklet but yet to install it. Anyone had tried?
