That makes sense. 100mbps at RM189 is already positioned against TIME's RM149. RM40 more for HyppTV, free mobile calls, Viu, BBC Player, etc. If HyppTV comes with Jumbo pack as standard at this price for new users, it'll be very attractive especially to those like me who have never subscribed to Astro.
And what about TM's Netflix deal? What happened to that? Will there be more?
Just checked Time website;
RM149 - 100mbps
RM189 - 300mbps (used to be RM199)
RM299 - 500mbps (new package)
TM may charge additional RM50-100 to cover for their triple offering (hpptv and calls).
Unifi
RM209 - 100mbps (with free calls)
RM299 - 300mbps (? in near future)
I think for home broadband, ISPs cannot price it more than RM299
1. as that is the perceived maximum limit that Malaysians are prepared to pay.
2. telcos are offering 4G+ speed that reaches 100mbps and very generous data allowance these days, so wired service has to compete to prevent customers from terminating their lines. They have to offer higher speed at lower price with unlimited usage
