Guys, Isit compulsory to have TV for Unifi installation? I read their t&c and it says all 3 service must be activated together and no partial activation allowed.
*
If u got pc monitor also can. Anything with hdmi port can be attached to the box.

Sometimes I have frequent disconnection from unifi somehow from time to time ( subjective ).
Tried on both setup
1.  synology router as main router and secondary synology router as ap
2. Dir 850l paired with synology router as ap.

*
Ur synology got logged? Maybe u can look at that.
And make official complain to tm. Possible can get a rebate if cumulative downtime is few hours in a month.

But make sure the problem is not from ur side first.

I would like to register for Unifi. I'm based in Shah Alam.

Any idea what's the best way to get the best deal? Would it better to go to TM Point, or would it be better to engage with TM agent/reseller?

If anyone want to recommend good TM agent, I'll appreciate it too.

Apply thru shopback also can

This D-Link no good??

Unifi changed my old router to this past week, so far everything fast, nice and stable
*
Dlink 850 is considered as an entry level category. Quite ok if ur not a heavy user.

Bro, have you seen this? Just something to keep in mind as you have MikroTik products: https://www.wired.com/story/router-hacking-...an-100-targets/

For a more in depth: https://arstechnica.com/information-technol...hrough-routers/
*
Thx for the heads up but its look like a targeted target n seems sponsored by a rogue state hacker.

Individual user might not need to worry , the manufacturer has taken proactive measure to counter the exploit.

Non the less always update all the usual stuff.

How to know if router is entry level or is for heavy users ?
*
Looks at the chip its used and the amount of ram its have. If not mistaken, dlink 850 uses realtek processor rtl819d with 128mb of ram.
The other high end model uses like qualcom/broadcom chip etc. More expensive but reliable.

U try this, on the unifi tv and at the same time do a speed test at ur pc (speedtest.tm.com.my).
While the speedtest is running, try to change channel at ur unifitv box n u will notice that the unifi tv streaming will be jerking or like freezing temporary for a short while.
Even though this should not happen because unifitv under diff vlan but i suspected the router cannot handle this concurrent connection really well.

U will not see this happen on the higher end router smile.gif

Someone enlighten me plz , im a little confused here on this math,

so i was paying rm179+gst=189 for 30mbps&hypp tv,months later got the free upgrade to 50mbps then few days ago got offered upgrade to 100mbps for rm199+gst=rm210

I see most talking about the rm10 upgrade so if i was on rm179 then it should be rm189 for 100mbps right? after gst should be rm199. How come im paying rm20 for the upgrade to 100mbps?

is it because they included ruby pack? it's not free is it and cost another rm10? if so can request to exclude to save another rm10? my hypp modem has been collecting dust since day 1, we dont even use it lol
*
Its seem the pattern is TM will have offer every now n then.

Last time most get the 50mbps speed for free under the Thank You Campaign (in dec 2016 if not mistaken).
So at that time existing user pay rm179 monthly ( some only pay rm169 and some even luckier pay rm159) for 30mbps (same as u pay now) and get the free upgrade to 50mbps with the same price... [price before gst]

and then, at the end of 2017 got another round of campaign rye 2017 (retention year end some say smile.gif ) which add +rm10 u get 100mbps speed.

so to answer ur question,
1. imo, the best is to try to get the rm139 for 30mbps speed. Later on if got year end offer u can upgrade with monthly price cheaper than most of us here smile.gif .. i also try to get this package but got existing contract when upgrade to 100mbps. 30mbps is good enough for me haha

2. unifi tv or known as hypp tv previously cant be exclude with the unifi broadband. Its in the contract i think.

3. Another thing to try is to exclude the call plan. I will try this when my contract finish , can save rm20 monthly.

so, is it bad or good  +rm10/rm20 to get 100mbps? mine currectly is 50mbps for rm179. but already thinking about termintaion. mid year TM gonna come out with new product right?
*
Good or bad is depend ...cant really decide for u.

For me ok la, good also haha

U can call 100 to chk if ur eligible for the add +rm10 to get the 100mbps. It should be become rm189 only before gst

If they say yes, confirm the detail what u get.
U shud get
1. Jumbo pack unifi tv add to ur existing package
2. Std20 for free call
3. Change of new router?
4. The discount is perpetual or only for 24 months?

But if u want to change plan, try to get the rm139, 30mbps much better in term value for money smile.gif
This one u need to ask at tm point.. do feedback here if successful

if u have existing streamyx service , you are eligible for this promotion (even if it's for new subscriber), can transfer ur old number into unifi
my streamyx 4mbps was rm 140 (not inc gst yet)

upgraded to unifi rm 139 (not inc gst yet), but got new contract for 2 years

price of rm 139 only limited for during contract period, after 2 years then revert back to original price rm 179
it's

30mbps - RM139 (179)
50mbps - RM 189 (forgot what price, should be 229-239)
*
nice smile.gif

but imho u shud wait for their promo later...........add+rm10 for 50mbps biggrin.gif
