The credit limit of RM500 is for you to spend in one month.
Your standard bill already used up RM150, the remainder RM350 you can use to call IDD or watch VOD on Unifi Tv.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Feb 8 2018, 09:32 AM)
Credit limit is for you to spend not for you to owe. Applies to telcos as well.
*
ya, something a lot of people misunderstand about "deposit" or "credit limit".

it is meant for unusual usage or unforseen spending, not to cover the monthly charge.

no different from a rental tenancy agreement with 2 or 3 months deposit.

it is not to be used to offset rent but to cover damages and repairs beyond normal wear n tear.

of course, if agreement terminated, that will be used to offset anything owed.

After 1.5 months of 100mbps, i will say it is excellent.

For a typical home with 10-20 devices, ethernet or wifi, it is lovely.

More so if price is rm179 or 189.

Of course, with a good router... not the crappy stock ones.

I seriously think i will not need speed upgrade for some years.

U always the lucky one la dari dulu  laugh.gif  rclxms.gif
Mine now, RM50 (megapack) + RM159 (100Mbps) = RM209
Still don't know either worth it or not if I change to Jumbo... hmm.gif
*
as said before, u could have when u went 50->100.
that's what i did, no extra charge.
now, if u wanna change, they may charge u 60-50=rm10 more.
jumbo has a lot more eng and sports channels.
but u will lose all the aneka, varnam, ruby ones from mega.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Feb 8 2018, 09:34 PM)
RM 90 for me. RM 60+30 but TM charges my Internet for RM 99 (100Mbps), pay full for HyppTV but RM 200 discount for Internet.
*
just to share with others...

i just got my second bill, all is correct.
we can now be all clear about how they bill... for those on +rm10->100mbps.

your case:
rm299 high speed internet +60 jumbo +30 ruby - 200 discount = 189... +gst.

my case:
rm299 high speed internet +60 jumbo -180 discount = 179... +gst

the final price is all determined by the DISCOUNT applied on the "high speed internet".
how they determine, amount... nobody seems to know for sure.

Price discount differences probably due to the subscribed hypptv pack b4 upgrade. Both of examples include STD20?
Previously u have jumbo lite?
*
std20, yes for both cases.

i previously had megapack, changed to jumbo.

i dun mind losing the non-eng channels - seldom watch anyway.

But then if 1st case users are allowed to cancel their Ruby pack after 1 year without penalty but retain d Jumbo pack becos of triple play, monthly fees will be reduced to rm159. 1 CS actually told me about this but yet to be proven workable, but I am keeping my Ruby so won't be able to try out.
*
I doubt it can be done.

Or can, but discount reduced by rm20 or 30.

Sorry for asking, the AP here means access point? So i should connect the router to another router that is downstairs? House is a long double story terrace.

What is the price range of the router that i'm looking at?
*
how long is long?

my own exp... 50 ft is no problem, 55ft is probably still ok, 60ft starts to get difficult.

some superlink houses have a footprint >70ft - this will be difficult for a single router, however good.

best to install LAN cable, place router AP on lower floor, center of house.

using wireless repeater/extender will not work well... too much loss as yr house is "long".

no one can be sure as they seem to do different things with diff customers at diff times in diff places.

if u can't go to tm point... u can CALL 100, can be done via phone if there is some deal for you.

I think it’s 70/75 feet and the house is extended fully for the front and back, both floors.

The tm technician just checked and he recommended the same, to add an AP on the lower floor. I told him that I can barely get any signal on the lower floor previously.
*
that does look like the viable option for you.

if u r going 100mbps, then can use the new router they give u as main router at yr upper back corner.

then, u buy a good router as AP to cover the wifi needs in areas the main cannot reach.

do not try to stinge by using old or cheap routers.

u will need a good router to get optimal wifi performance be it 2.4ghz or 5ghz.

more so for your very long house.

do keep us posted when u are thru with it, what results, i like to know.

because every few days, someone will ask the same question as you:

"i have bad wifi in my house with unifi... what do i do?"

Want to confirm, is the RM10 top up for speed upgrade + jumbo pack still available?
Was thinking of terminating my current plan and reapply again but before I do so, is it possible to use the same email on the spot if I do so? I mean like tell them I want to terminate and reapply using the same email without having to wait second account to activate then only terminate my current account.
*
QUOTE(Jason Tan1996 @ Feb 10 2018, 04:46 PM)
Well, I could but phone is not with me during working hours. It's locked inside the manager desk  sweat.gif  Only can use them during lunch hours.
100mbps @ RM299 exclude gst
I'll try my luck again on my break time(now), but sometimes the queue could take very long for them to get back to me.
*
yr case will not be simple.
u r on 100mbps, rm299.
there is no +rm10 to upgrade to.
so, u must terminate, reapply.
the questions... r u still on contract, apply what, if port available in yr area, possible to upgrade cheap or not, etc.

as it involves termination, i wud think u MUST go to TM point, reapply - u need to sign papers.
if your job does not permit u to go easily, cannot use phone, what else to do but to take a day leave to do that?
still, call first, clarify a few things, then u go to tmpoint to do what u hv to do.

am using 100Mbps (RM189 RYE package), setup as follow:

ASUS AC1200G+ as my router on groundfloor
TPLINK WA850RE as range extender on 1st floor
desktop PC on 2nd floor connected to the range extender via TPLINK WN821N wifi receiver

3 users in my home, normal web browsing, no heavy youtuber & i'm the sole person who torrents via BitComet at times & game via PS4 which is connected via LAN on groundfloor

my issue is whenever i'm torrenting & gaming, internet speed will slow down greatly, to the point that google mainpage take seconds to load, youtube mainpage take more than 10 seconds to load, and slow browsing speed to other sites as well. this issue is even more obvious when i'm torrenting.
and i've tried torrenting with only 1 file running, not multiple torrent files. and the D/L speed is only around 1000-2000kb/s, not lighting fast speed.

pls any sifu can enlighten me what's going wrong here notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
3 flrs... Extender... U already lost half the speed.. wifi lose more.

Try testing everything with Ethernet. If good, u hv the perennial issue "I hv bad Wi-Fi in my big house with unifi... What do i do?".

ya, understands that more than 50% of the speed will be lost when using extender. but the issue is even when I'm only torrenting with 1 file, the speed is too low for others to even browse/youtube. and when i'm online using PS4, the speed will be slow as well, although i'm not playing multiplayer, just sign into PSN/PS4 connected to internet.
that's where i don't get it?! why would the speed be so slow even though only 3 ppl using, and that's w/o heavy torrenting/no heavy youtuber/no heavy website browsing/no multiplayer gaming  cry.gif  cry.gif

can't try the torrenting via LAN cable as my PC is on 2nd floor..router on groundfloor
*
Yr questions r normal... Every 2 or 3 days, someone ask same.

Yr case, u must 1st determine if it is bad unifi or bad wifi.

And u will not know until u do speed test with Ethernet. Borrow laptop or some device to test wired torrent. If still bad, u hv case to complain to unifi1. If good, u know u need to deal with wifi.

I'm no expert but from the hundreds of similar cases I read in this section, I will think u need either a super Wi-Fi router or install wired lan. Big house, no shortcuts. It's a tech issue.

yes, do try that and post results.

that way, we know if the problem is the torr client or yr router/extender/repaeater.

will be useful for others who have same set up like yours using same client.

Oh sorry forget to mention, using Wi-Fi 2.4GHz
*
your results are normal.
u will never get 2.4ghz to do full 100mbps with wifi; u may get 60-70% of it if very close to router.
in other words, to get max wifi benefit from what u pay for 100mbps, u not only need a good wifi router, u also need your devices to be able to run on 5ghz.
typically pc's and cheaper n older devices incl handphones and androidboxes do not have dual band.
pc's - u can get one of those dual band adaptors.
5ghz can get you 100-110mbps if <50ft in a typical house, beyond which it will start to drop off.

QUOTE(Shaney @ Feb 16 2018, 09:16 AM)
hey guys, i have a quick question.
the following is my current setup.
ONU> DIR850L (router) > Synology RT1900AC (x2) act as AP
I wonder should i just take the DIR850L out of the equation?
My concept on Networking is every devices carry out their only one task?
Or at current days the current networking devices is good enough to carry out multiple task at once?
Besides, if i wanna get a good router for UNIFI, which one should i go for ?
high end consumer grade router or the enterprise grade router?
it seems in terms of spec, high end consumer grade router win it all around.
hope all sifu could help me out. thanks ~ and happy new year smile.gif
P:S -> I'm on UNIFI 100MB package
*
what's no good about yr setup?
bad wifi? bad everything? how bad?
u need to describe what the problem is, how big is your house, what devices u use, etc. for people to comment usefully.

Sometimes I have frequent disconnection from unifi somehow from time to time ( subjective ).
Tried on both setup
1.  synology router as main router and secondary synology router as ap
2. Dir 850l paired with synology router as ap.

Devices connected to Wi-Fi = 20
Unifi package = 100mbps

How can I get a stable connection like 99% so I can access my server at home despite I’m away at work or outstation
*
so... disconnections... and remote access?

frequent disconnects can be caused the router... u can check with the people in the specific router brand thread.

What you said is true I used to have bad congestion and lag. After doing research I find out at 2.4ghz just too many congestions and the ping just to router keep spiking.

To fix this I bought a dlink wireless and router that support 5ghz .

Since then I get consistent max speed and pings

On unifi 50mbps
*
50mbps is less critical, can get close to full wifi 2.4ghz with good router.
The diff is big with 100mbps.
Its good u start using dual band routers and 5ghz devices.
U will then be fully ready when u upgrade to 100mbps.

In summary, there is no need for complex setups, or spend on extra networking eqpt.
Just a good dual band router and 5ghz will be fine for most homes up to 100mbps.
Some older devices will still hv to run on 2.4ghz but the newer ones will benefit with 5ghz.

QUOTE(AHGS14 @ Feb 17 2018, 02:28 PM)
Q:  Does Unifi carve bandwidth off from the subscribed Internet speed?  E.g., if I subscribe to 30 Mbps, I'm theoretically getting less speed if Unifi TV becomes very active.
*
No. Unifitv is separated.
