but my upload speed shown an increase to 50mbps and download speed never reach 60mbps
*
that is expected...

becos yr pc or other devices are not dual band.

only with dual band 5ghz can u get full over wifi... 103mbps, in fact.

most pc's are not on 5ghz, only 2.4. even new ones in the shop are mostly 2.4-3.5ghz.

solution for pc - use ethernet or get a dual band wifi adaptor.

here, usual result... 3 yr old pc with wifi adaptor, 50ft, 1 wall, 1 staircase:

Shouldn’t be dual band issue. More congestion and network interference on 2.4GHz. If he is living in a gated community where there are only a few houses around him, he can get the full 100Mbps with 40 or 80MHz channel bandwidth. If not, the only way is to go up to 5GHz, where are fewer devices there.
*
to me, it is, done enough tests.

50mbps... easy, most can do, max out with 2.4ghz.

100mbps for me... need 5ghz; 2.4... max out 70-80.

i live in a place where my router can detect 5 neighbor users typically - front, back, sides.

can even get into them with their password!

but does not disrupt my wifi at all.

so, "interference" - walls or other users - is not a big problem, imo.

How on earth do you get RM2K for RT-AC86U?
*
that's the price tag i thought i saw in one shop.

maybe i was mistaken, more like rm1.8k?

The highest price I ever saw for the RT-AC86U is RM1.5K
Whereas the lowest is RM1.3K (Original ASUS Malaysia unit)

For RM1.8K = 2K, I believe you're looking at RT-AC5300
*
ar... it must be that ac5300... price tag was 2.2k in one shop!

Hi guys,

I have a noob question. For streaming movies online, does the upload speed plays important role for smooth playback? Or download speed is the important ones? As i just subscribe to 30mbps and they provide 30mbps download and only 10mbps upload.
*
if u hv the chance, upgrade to 50, even 100mbps.

online streams work better with higher, more stable, more "safety margin" speeds.

i have seen a lot with 10, 30, 50, 100mbps... each step makes a diff.

more so for HD streams.

RM189 for 100mbps? Why I paid the same price but get 50Mbps only.
*
to understand this, u can read the last 50 pages or so... a lot has been said.

it has to do with what u started with, when, whether u got free upgrades, etc.

u can call 100...

but be informed for new subscribers, official price is rm329 for 100mbps... see below chart.

Not really I have tried 30,50 and and now 100Mbps streaming does not make much difference but except for downloads its much faster....

Well if you re have into downloading a lof of stuff than 100Mbps is definitely worth it...
*
well.. it depends what u r streaming.

small size, low grade stuff... no need high speed, of course.

i dont think many here understand what people here have been saying. We are being charged for a hypptv subscription which we did not apply for. Hypptv is part of unifi but the cost is inclusive so for instance in the year end promo, if you subscribed to unifi any package, hypptv is inclusive without any additional pay. its only if you subscribed to a hypptv package that you have to pay that, but the point is we did not.
I know this because for another one of my family who did subscribe they only paid for unifi and not for hypptv separately, exactly as advertised. However for me, i am being charged separately for unifi which should've been inclusive of the cost otherwise it should've been mentioned at tm point when i was signing up.
*
the way TM bills, hypptv "inclusive" does not mean the charge does not appear.

it has to be accounted for for internal accounting purposes.

so, hypptv, whichever pack that is supposed to be "free" is billed at std price cost.

then, they apply a discount to nullify it.

e.g., simplified... hypp residential rm299, hypptv 60, discount 180=299+60=180=179.

what i read... the problem lies with the discount - this, i gather is common.

in the bill, they apply a discount lower than what some people thought they will get. that would the issue to clarify with them.

if the deal was made over the phone, the conversation is recorded, and it contains a read out by the staff, "your package price is rmxxx ... with rmyyy discount... do u agree, yes or no...". that is the proof anyone having a dispute should zoom in on.

lucky me, i received my bill showing what it should be, as per what transpired and recorded over the phone.

What's the better choice for 50Mbps, powerline or wifi?

I'm using Asus RT-N12. Wifi now getting 27Mbps download 21Mbps upload
*
Describe yr home, distance.

Rtn12... hp? d or b1?

When 50mbps, my rtn12hp_b1 can deliver full 50mbps wifi 50ft.

But if u plan to go 100mbps, go for better, ac router.

I now use rtac1300uhp, full speed, good stuff.

Not that far away, I moved my PC downstairs, previously upstairs can barely connect to wifi. I measured if I were to get ethernet cable, I'd need about 25-30 meters.
If calculate distance, somewhere around 10 meters? Under 50 ft. Got wall in between PC and router. Router is in living room, PC is in office room.
On a side note, is the +RM10 upgrade promo still available?
*
10m with a wall is a piece of cake.

unless u r in a flat with 100 other users around u!

if u hv not, do call 100, ask for the +rm10 100mbps upgrade.

this has been discussed in the last 50 pages since last oct or something... where were you!! biggrin.gif

after real measurement, i think i need a 50meter cable  bangwall.gif , i have dogs and robot vacuum at home so the cable will have to go through ceiling, it's quite a big mess. thinking of calling someone to do it. do you know the rate for asking somebody to come pull cable?

alright will call. actually my younger sis's bf called for an upgrade about two months ago, i was busy with work recently and totally forgotten about it  sweat.gif
*
if u can afford the time, money and "mess", ethernet is always better.

but in my years, i never had to...

never had to do homeplug, extender, repeater...

just wifi with rtn12hp_b1 and now rtac1300uhp - both served their purpose very well.

7ms is too high... something not right.

Wifi, i get 5-6ms.... ethernet.. 2-3ms.

Using cat6 cables.

i'm really surprised how you can get maximum speed using wifi, are there no interference?

i've tested AP and wifi extender, both sucks. currently using wifi extender for phone usage upstairs.

yeah thank god I still have a 25-30meters cat5e cable from my old house like 13 years ago. roughly tried measuring, definitely need a 50meter, might buy a coupler with a 25/35m cat5e to extend.

ever heard of coupler reducing speed or increasing latency?
*
There is always interference... unless u live on your own farm! biggrin.gif

My house is a one typical with walls, furniture, appliances, gadgets, devices on all the time everywhere.

50ft, 1 wall, 1 staircase, 1 cabinet... full speed 100-105mbps with 5ghz.

55ft, 2 walls, 1 staircase, 1 sofa... 90mbps 5ghz, 60mbps 2.4ghz.

I hv one poor spot in a 60ft corner, 3 walls to go thru.... this spot, can only get 20-30mbps with 2.4ghz.

Your rtn12d1 is not as good as the rtn12hpb1.

If u hv the chance, try a b1... it worked full speed for me.... for 50mbps 2.4ghz.

100mbps, need ac router with dual band.

Terminated my unifi few weeks ago. Today, I received the final bill & I expect the amount I need to pay is pro-rated to offset the normal billing date.

Then I see the amount is -RM57.xx. Means, TM owe me instead but I don't remember paying them deposit when I registered 5 years ago.

Normally how do they credit the amount? Via cheque?
*
likely a rebate for the unused days.

since they bill u a month in advance... u forgot? biggrin.gif

yup bonanza 30bmps rm139 is internet+hypptv.. but they charged me an additional rm30 for hypptv everywhere lite and made my bill to rm169. they made mistake ,they  didnt remove the hypptv from unifilite. so i reported to tm n they removed the hypptv everywhere lite. but now they charge me early termination fee. huhu
*
think u r confused...

.. unifi lite comes with hypptv everywhere now called unifi playtv- an internet based app, no stb (hyppbox)
.. hyyptv is now called unifi tv - u must take basic pack (free channels, (priced in), and if u like, add chargeable packs jumbo, jumbo lite, ruby, etc
.. there is no such thing as "hypptv everywhere lite".
.. rm139 is 30mbps+uniftv basic pack, not 30mbps+jumbo lite.
.. u r charged additional rm30 becos u get jumbo lite; jumbo is rm60.
.. u can call to try remove jumbo lite to save rm30 but there cud b conditions moving from lite to unifi30.
.. since u terminated last lite contract, u pay termination fee.

The RM139 is new for me.. What is Unifi TV Basic? Free to air as (RTM 1,2 TV 3)?

So it's not RM139 including  aneka/ruby/jumbo lite (value RM30) like usually previous package? Only Jumbo (value RM60) need to add RM30 from the advertised price.
*
I believe yr rm139 package includes jumbo lite... no ruby chinese channels for sure... google to read whats in there.

If u r getting more channels, it means some other pack is added, u pay.

If u do not post yr bill, people cant comment anymore.

Yes specification states
Frequency 2.4-2.4835GHz
http://www.tp-link.com/us/products/details...#specifications

After TM checked, tonight I am getting
TM Speed Test - 31.3 - 34 Mbps
Ookla test - 35.47 - 43 Mbps
Ookla on mobile - 17.51 - 22.56Mbps

Last night it was only around 15 Mbps when I called them, Maybe they corrected something back-end.
Will be getting ASUS RT-N12HP High Power N300 3-in-1 Wi-Fi Router ( its still 2.4 Ghz ) tomorrow, I doubt there will be much difference.
Thank you all. Will update.
*
the rtn12hp is a good inexpensive router.
it served me 4 years 10-30-50mbps after dumping the stock router - always full speed ethernet or wifi.
if your house is a typical one and not a big-big with lots of metal structures or live in high density highrise, it will work v good.
if u hv no plans to go 100mbps, that is a choice i will recommend u.
but if u plan to go 100, then go for ac router becos that rtn12hp cannot cope with it.

keep in mind ac, 5ghz sounds sexy n all but not necessary for 50mbps.
some of yr devices incl pc, cheap phones may not be able to do 5ghz anyway.
then, 5ghz can't penetrate too far, 2.4ghz can do better.
lastly, ac router will cost min rm500 or so - twice the rtn12hp.
so, decide wisely.

this usual suspect always pop up when u find it slow.
but my exp... no, never... tm never throttle.
always some other reason.

*
.. they base the decision to change or not on the record what they last supplied you.
.. no matter u use yr own equipment, if last router from them is no good for 100mbos, u get new one
.. new router likely tplink ac1200 - gigabit, ac dual band - not good imo - i replaced it within 24 hrs. tongue.gif
.. dect phone, stb... no, u get +1yr warranty, that's all.
