Not sure about X2N7 for neck lah... the DA7 neck sounds interesting, but not sure lah if I want to get a warm neck pup to offset the X2N7 bridge... argh...

Val's got a PAF Pro on his Jackson (neck) and PAF7 for his K7 neck pup... according to him PAF7 is very low output (220)... actually, IIRC PAF for 6 string and PAF7 are very different sounding pups...

heck... I might just swap my Ibbie stock bridge pup into the neck position just to see how it sounds...

DS7 got neck version? If you mean just putting it in the neck position, yeah, that'd look cool IMHO... 2 rails at the bridge, 1 rail at the neck... FTW!

Gah! Been checking out Ishibashi... RG8427F J-custom (with the tree of life FTW!) goes for about 6.3k without shipping/tax and the UV777BK goes for about 5.5k without shipping/tax...

Seriously, if I had about 7k lying around, I'd really be stumped between those two... GAS!

1. Gee... all this while I thought that DiMarzio only had the PAF Pro, didn't realize they actually have a pickup called PAF... the magic dragon...

2. ...err, does anybody know where I can find the specs for Ibanez stock pups? Kinda wanna see how the V7-7 EQ chart and output level is like...

3. ...err, EQ, does the 1527 come with 500 thingy volume pot? when you installed new pups, did you have to replace the volume pot too?

Ok, this strictly speaking isn't a 7-string related question... but since anything and everything happens to be discussed in the Sanctuary here goes:

I've been trying to learn Bodom After Midnight... one part really really stumps me:

Even at slow tempos ~80 to 100bpm, when I play it there's a pronounced accent on the highest notes of the arpeggios.

I play it by using a downstroke on the highest note and upstrokes on the others, but jumping from the lowest note on the D string to the highest note on the E string is like GRRRRRRRRR!!

...any tips from the resident sifus here?

(Actually I'm not really a fan of COB but these arps seem similar to the 3-string ones that Luca Turilli usually plays... and I'm not going to bother attempting those because the average tempo is like >180bpm!)

Oh yeah, before any smart-@sses say "Practice!" ...I know that it requires practice, but I don't want to practice it the friggin' wrong way and get the wrong technique perfectly right!

Oh yeah, back to 7-strings... picked up my guitar from Tham's just now, managed to fool around a bit with his Marshall preamp (JMP, I think...)...

Low B sounded quite clear with the X2N7... but the clean tone was... err... no comment!
