QUOTE(valkyrie1232 @ Jul 10 2007, 12:09 AM) On a side note, EQ, there are Power Metal bands who use 7 strings (Late era Helloween & Sonata Arctica). Well those that I know of anyway. Jag Panzer, man, Jag Panzer!!! How can you forget about Chris "I May Just Be A Sessionist But I Tapau-ed Jeff Loomis" Broderick!??!?!?!! 7-string RGLACS & RG1527 ok! ...ok, but they're American, so they probably sing about Irregularly Muscled Tanks and Weird Glowing Magical Rocket Launchers... QUOTE(valkyrie1232 @ Jul 11 2007, 09:38 AM) Well, there's always that album cover (Iced Earth was it? or some other power metal band) showing some biker dude on his bike, shotgun in hand, roadhouse grill on the highway and a dragon flying above him! Not Iced Earth lah... I think it was either Dio or Manowar... Iced Earth covers are usually very gothic/horror style influenced! What's the deal?! QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Jul 11 2007, 12:37 PM) This is Malaysia, you all should sing about massive war against the parliament leaking, epic traffic jams and not forgetting the legendary tale of Puteri Gunung Ledang. Lord Samy Vellu wilt surely sendeth us to the Iron Maiden for such slanderous tunes! |

QUOTE(Equilibrium777 @ Jul 13 2007, 10:22 PM) i kno you guys don't abuse the whammy but i was wondering does your 7 still go out of tune after abusing the whammy? cause i still have that problem. . . even after setup. . . not as bad but still after a song i have to tune up. . . and i've reached a point where the fine tuners are at the max lmao. . . How badly does it go out of tune? ...the Edge is good, but I don't think you can expect it to be 100% stable... I've read that even if your strings are a few days old, it may affect the tuning stability... how bout after yanking your Edge to kingdom come and back, you play the rest of the piece with a wide vibrato to cover up the drop in pitch? |

Ocean of Fire was craaaazyyyyyyy!!!
Gee I wonder if we put Ocean of Fire and Deja Voodoo Spells on the same stage... would that like blow up the world? Oh yeah, and Poseidon was quite killer too. Richard was shredding his @ss off too, with his nps runs/multiple string tapping/string skip tapping/super fast sweep arps... When Poseidon went up, I was like When Ocean of fire went up... I think I'll take up ledzepfreak's suggestion and get an e-bay account to sell my gear... |

Their guitarists ain't too bad afaik. "Serpeant" Ash, playing the same set? A serpeant is a magical beast like an owlbear, only it combines the head of a serpent with the body of an ant... |

Gee, Blacktrix, why don't you bring your family along?
EQ: what kinda 7-string approaches are you looking for? 5-octave 2-handed tapping arpeggios? ...I always thought the only way to approach the 7-string is with suitable awe and humility at the sheer power of the mighty low-B... Added on August 3, 2007, 12:27 pm... last night I snuck a peak at my RR3 in its gig bag... I realized I haven't played the poor thing in a few months... Wah... long time never visit the Seventuary...
First things first (ok maybe a bit late Anyway, EQ, I know how it feels to have your tone change at different venues... especially when the #*($&# FX loop doesn't work! grr... Generally, I hate plugging my GT through Marshalls... tried it once at De'Rhythmix (I think it was a AVT- had to go through the input coz the #*($&#$(& FX loop didn't work! grr...)... tone came out all damn shrill and boxy sounding. Tried all kinds of insta-tweaks; low-cut/high cut filters, EQ, changing the mic sim/direct sound balance, changing output options... Dunno if that amp was just busted though, coz usually I can get away with tweaking the global EQ on the GT... Anyway, just wondering if you guys (EQ + Rossie) use the cab and mic simulators on your floorboards? (Not sure what floorboard Rossie is using though... although I was standing next to it on stage after his set... lol... nerves... Anyway, anyway... sorry for the "short" post... |

Lemme guess... Que Tone Studios? Ayub?
I'm the one who goes through the Laney Hardcore max halfstack there, Val uses the Marshall... The only reason I'd ever consider switching to a POD is because of the dang handle on the XT Live... I haven't tried running FRFR though, except through direct in to a laptop, sounded like crap though, haven't got the hang of it yet. I find that the cab/mic-sim makes the tone very boxy and closed, whereas the direct sound is very shrill/fizzy. But I've read on GTCentral (off-limits to you PODheads! And you're spot on about "it's more important to get a clean and clear tone rather than YOUR tone"... me and Val generally swear by a related aphorism "who cares how it sounds like as long as you can be HEARD"... hence, scooped mids are a no-no... No hard and fast rules though. I guess the important things are: 1. Your tone can be heard. 2. Your tone doesn't damage people's eardrums. Unless you're Petrucci and you want people to just drop down and die. It's pretty amazing. 3. Your tone doesn't blow up the amp. I'm not going to mention names here... |
