well, i've had a bad experience with tplink ac1200 - was randomly restarting every 2-3 days. might be an isolated case to my unit only tho...

complained to TM and they replaced with Dlink unit. have been running for 3 days already but i'll have to run it longer to build up confidence that it is ok now.

i run 10 days also no problem, only need to reboot cause need new ip for download from hosting website. thumbup.gif btw, i don't have any fan to blow it cooler. running at 40 celsius +- thumbsup.gif

Everynight I will turn off my dlink 850L when i'm sleep and on again the next morning. So far no problem at all.

I believe the AC1200 and C1200 are the same thing. The "A" stands for Archer, so the full name of the device is Archer C1200.

Even on tplink's site, they mention both names: http://www.tp-link.com.my/products/details...cher-C1200.html

Ac1200  2 usb port
C1200 1 usb port
Ac1200 boot take 2 minute
C1200 boot take 5 minute

To be more accurate, there's:
C5 v1
C5 v2
C1200

AC1200 isn't an actual model number but refers to their wifi capabilities. You can see it here.

hahaha yes u r accurate indeed!

And the only tplink router that has AC1200 capability (that's named the Archer C1200) has 1 USB port, not two. That's what I got...and it sure doesn't take 5min to boot...never actually timed it, but it feels like 2+ minutes.

Edited for a bit more clarity tongue.gif me getting confused!

Maybe they updated the firmware. I did a test months ago and the C1200 was really slow in booting. See here:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=4269752

I don't use it on a daily basis so can't say anything about reliability. The D-Link DIR-850L has to be the worst of the lot. Of the routers that TM gives out, the RGX4400 is still my fav.
RGX4400 > C5 > C1200/DIR-850L

But lately I don't see any more C5s or RGX4400s.

Egads! that is shocking! If it took 5min+ for mine to bootup, I'd have raged and went shopping for a better device. Even my ancient redmi note 3G boots faster than that biggrin.gif

Am no networking expert by far...but yeah maybe they did come out with a better firmware. I've also read that sometimes manufacturers use different components in various production runs of the same model name, so maybe that's may have happened too...

Anyways I'm still very happy with getting unifi lite, and am luvin the upload speed rclxms.gif Gone are the bad old days of streamyx!

If the stb need money to buy, better go for tvbox at ladaza, 11street, lelong, shoppe..etc. Alternatively get a 2nd hand TM happytv box, then jailbreak it and can watch 1000+ channels for free.

Well that page does say "HURRY!! PROMOTION END THIS MONTH!!!", so I'd say yes.

It also says "Click for Register Now".....doesn't TM have any proofreaders? biggrin.gif

Nope. There's no promotion for UniFi Lite at all. The price is RM129 and it is optional to take the Voice 20 pack. So it is not even a promotion at all. Probably they just want to attract you to sign up with them immediately only.

Well what a misleading day it's been! Routers named closely to a wifi standard....and now non-TM websites that use TM logos etc ! Looks like I'll have to scrutinize things more closely...or I'll end up getting phished.

Depends on where you use the most... if you got a small room downstairs with a mini office then put downstairs.. but if your pc mainly used in a room then perhaps upstairs.... smile.gif

I always put downstairs anyway....

you can actually set a schedule in the router itself for turn off and turn back on at a certain period of time.

Usually you placed it where you use the internet the most~ If is both upstairs and downstairs then will depend on whether you have any desktop and you may wanna have it near to your desktop for LAN connection~

Otherwise you just place it near to where your fiber wiring port is~
