That will be against me in my fight to get Unifi Lite vs my streamyx BB now sad.gif
I can see her saying this now: "See? same speed why need sidegrade to unifi and pay for the extra electricity?"

Anyway update to my TMpoint visit: exactly as I expected. "Oh we have no info on this. We will confirm you and call you back today when we got info ok?" then till now no call... Great service as always from our beloved monopoly TM.
*
The download speed improved by +20-25%.
The upload speed improved by 500% (I can use HD CCTV monitoring from my mobile now!)
Torrent download, not throttled at this moment! (So download is now a few hundred % faster)

The electricity consumption is very minimal.
I don't think you switch off your modem when you are not using Streamyx? doh.gif

Just to answer myself. Found out that she's on VIP5 (OKU) RM119, HyppTV, No Free calls. Not sure how she got that package in 2017.
*
I got the news yesterday (30/8)
http://www.sinchew.com.my/node/1677746/
http://www.sinchew.com.my/node/1677508

[1] TM will launch a product next month and this product will contribute to TM's FY2018.
[2] TM may launch a product to target highrise customers, due to loss of customers to Time. A package for students is another possibility.
[3] 88% Unifi >10Mbps. It means still have 12% (120k) customers getting 5Mbps, could be biz users and OKU.

Sorry, I am not so tech savy. After you got the hypptv stb, did you change any setting (for example, as i know the hypptv stb should have the real owner id etc)?

So, to install the apk, you just plug into the usb and click to install the apk?

Thanks, actually, I more naively just plug the whole box thinking I can see the hypptv as the normal hypptv stb but give up after not working.
*
Then install Kodi + ICDrama. You can unsubscribe Astro.

Awww...sorry to hear that sad.gif

All those who received that SMS should zerg rush TM's facebook and viral this matter. Maybe there's a small (very small) chance they'll be lambasted into giving us all a free upgrade??
*
Haha, not really urgent, we are just white tikus. I treat it as a bonus if I get free upgrade by Oct17.
10Mbps is already quite good for my small family, till my kids grow up or ready for 4k TV programs.
If I am given a choice - upgrade to 30Mbps or additional HyppTV channels, I will choose the latter!
Anyway we shall get 2x speed by 2019. It is just a matter of time.

Looks like TM is giving me false hope. This sms was sent by them on 28 Aug and it took them about three weeks to say this sms has been mistakenly sent to me. Anybody here receive similar sms?

We should get 20Mbps by 2019.

tq for quick respond sir.
so if i want to watch tv like usual( without astro) what i need is unifi lite pack and android box?will it make my internet browsing slow?
what about hyptv?is it as good as astro?
*
What I am doing now...
[1] Got a MiBox3s at RM300+, install Kodi, HyppTV Everywhere, ICDrama etc.
- ICDrama or download from ICDrama for tonnes of TVB dramas. (replacing Astro 311)
- Must use a USB mouse for HyppTV everywhere. The H.E. is not remote control - friendly.
[2] Suspend Astro for 2 months and evaluate. It is likely I will move to Astro NJOI (paying ~RM400 one-off) and go for prepaid channels when needed (eg RM21.20 for 30 days for a channels instead of paying ~RM100 monthly) + some basic channels free for life.
[3] Haven't tried Huat88/MyIPTV, just pay RM30/month for all Astro channels (but illegal).

FYI, HyppTV HD channels use not more than 2.8Mbps.

Double the speed (2nd round) and half the price within 2 years from 2017 (ie before 2019) is what Federal Government proposed in Budget 2017.
I don't think the free upgrade is a technical error but a U-turn, otherwise why (1) only selected Sarawakians received the message, (2) obviously stated "before end of Oct'17" , (3) "10M to 30M".
Maybe they had received too many complaints/upset from those who didn't receive the sms.
or it could be due to project delay... defer to next year instead, as first round of free upgrade is still on-going.
or PRU14 defer to next year

Who knows Celcom Fibre RM120 (infra from Celcom Timur) will be available in Sarawak soon, as it just happens in Sabah. Celcom is also a shareholder of Sacofa.

*
Just want to buy back my Astro equipment, keep some basic channels (free for life), and buy kids channels during holiday.
TV box is not really friendly and convenient.
Also Astro app doesn't work at MiBox3s at this moment.
Not planning to get full Astro channels (pirated).

My aunty's shop just subscribe Streamyx 1M Home Package only just like my house package for RM110 all this while.

Is this determine by your property type to able to subscribe to business package then? Means houses only can subscribe home package and shop only can subscribe business package.

I don't think this make sense to me unless shop uses a special line that different from houses.
*
eg Ground floor and First floor are commercial, then go for business package.
Second floor is residential, then you can go for residential package or business package.
So if you own all 3 levels, register under PERSONAL name at 2nd floor for residential package!

The Unifi Lite was offered to new customers in Sarawak at RM129/month (excl GST), 1st month free. (till 30/9)
So for 24 months, equivalent to you save RM5 every month.

Haha expected. First kill Streamyx 2/4/8Mbps (RM120-160) now want to kill Streamyx 1/2Mbps (RM90-120), will target those low-end users later (RM60-90, RM25) and complete the migration plan. Soon they can remove the copper from the street where there is no streamyx users to cut cost.
Existing users will get price cut and speed upgrade, just wait for Budget 2018/2019 or PRU14 manifesto. No regret as I have enjoyed it in the past few months.
There is nothing permanent except change.

Now existing users complaining so nobody will get it. Happy ending!
Let college/university students, OKU, low-income group enjoy RM99 at the beginning, just like 4Mbps@RM88 in the past. No one should complain!

As far as i know, i could be wrong, maxis fibre ride on tm line also, and if got issue, they will pass back to tm, so what's the point?

And while im sure there are others that are happy with wireless broadband, the fact is that tm is the only provider for fixed line, and i want fixed line broadband. So in a way, im "forced" to use unifi.

And when tm receive funding from government and gives us shit service (different customer different pricing but same package), those that pay extra sure feel unhappy. At least when maxis did it, unhappy people can jump to others like celcom or digi. But for tm, there's no equivalent competitor.
*
IMO, TM will be restructured when HSBB2/SUBB project is completed in 2019.
TM may transfer all the Streamyx/Unifi/Webe users to Unifi Sdn Bhd (ISP) and allow other ISPs to join in to compete.
TM will become NBN/Openreach (exclusive) or may merge with Celcom's edotco to manage the telecom infra in Peninsular Malaysia.
Not only TM, other Telco such as Celcom, Time, Maxis are also partly owned by the Govt.

Just received my first bill, is this mean my packages is RM129 (99+30, right?)

If they launched RM99 after Bajet 2018, I'll go ask for CANCEL the USELESS HyppTV indeed.
*
You cannot cancel HyppTV RM30 as it is a compulsory add-on and you had agreed on it when you subscribed to Unifi "PACKAGE".

but that time it's bundles and No more cheaper packages inside their TM system, until this LEAKED OUT RM99 without HyppTV everywhere (using in android)
*
Relax. Wait till it is launched, we will know the details. Nobody had got it yet. Maybe it is for student, selected areas, selected group only.
RM99 pack - who told you HyppTV everywhere is excluded? TM planned to give RM30 discount every month for 24 months ONLY.
Earlier campaign, 3700 (equivalent to RM37) points, or free 1 month subscription (equivalent to RM137), or free channels for 1-3 months and free activation (RM200) etc.

Is it?
then we existing users MUST FIGHT back also, got fooled is NOT OK!!!

Lite supposed mean Cheap and ADDON is completely wastes, unless we wanna add into packages (but this is FORCED BUNDLES)
*
Think positively.
Were you happy when you first got the service at RM129 x 24 months (RM3096 exclude GST, income tax rebate, incentives from TM) sometime this year?
Why bother the new sign-up incentives? You can re-sign the package (and get another router, incentive etc) in 2019 (24 months from your service date).
Relax and wait for free upgrade and price cut (before 2019) or upgrade to higher speed at +RM10/month if you receive offer from telemarketer!
If you want something basic and cheap, you will see it a few months later, cheaper than 10Mbps @ RM99.

Well, in my opinion stick to 129 first. When they finalize they finalize package, then only we existing owners can file an official complain on the unfair practise.
*
Haha Free subscription on 25th-30th month will solve the conflict and they can retain existing users for another 6 months. By then TM had also recovered its initial investment.
