Not really. TM refund you the deposit RM75 that you paid long long time ago and pro-rated advance charge of your streamyx service that you already paid recently.

According to Budget 2017 promised by Ah Jib Kor, Unifi Lite 10 will be upgraded to 20Mbps within 2 years from 2017.
So you all will get free upgrade, it is just a matter of time.

Some Unifi Lite users @ Kuching already receive free upgrade SMS today.
My bro got his Unifi Lite last week and Installer told him he will get upgrade to 30 soon.
Or it could be due to the funding (part of RM1b) from state government to TM / Federal Govt.
But by 2019, as per Budget 2017, the speed will be doubled, so 30 will go to 50(/100?) etc. Fair to high-end users.

TM's strategy is now encouraging Streamyx 4/8 to migrate to Unifi Lite (10/30). Sooner or later TM will provide cheaper Unifi service (relaunch unifi lite 5/10, maybe) to kill Streamyx 1/2.

You misunderstood. There are 2 rounds.
First round in 2016-17, VIP5 to Unifi Lite 10 (RM149), VIP10 to Unifi Adv30 (RM199), VIP20 to Unif Adv50 (RM249).
Second round - within 2 years from 1st round (maybe Unifi Lite 10 -> Unifi xx 30). [+ the tariff will be cut by half, which most of you don't believe]

Maybe I had made advance payment (till year end), my statement balance is always negative.

Use TM's "Wifi Optimiser Tool" app, you will see it after scanning.
It could be something cheaper than Unifi Lite RM129.

SUBB project design spec is 20Mbps. It is VDSL2, better than VDSL.
So the cabinet (FTTC) shall be within 1km from customer's premises.
Technically you may get higher speed (>50Mbps, max ~300Mbps) if your premise is just less than 500m away.
So in the future, they can just build more cabinets nearer to the customer premises to improve the speed.
Another DSL is currently being developed and tested, the G.Fast technology will deliver up to 1Gbps (a few years from now).
so ADSL -> VDSL -> G.Fast

Up to this moment, I haven't seen any Sabah users getting free upgrade sms.
So I assume the priority is given to Sarawak users first as the pilot project for 2nd round of free upgrade nationwide.
Otherwise it could be due to the voluntary funding (part of RM1b) from Abang Jo's Govt to TM / Najib's Govt.

Why potong? I believe he will get a free upgrade as well. If still under contract, termination penalty is RM500.
Also, I don't think TM will give HyppTV Box for free upgrade from 10 to 30.

Not only speed upgrade, re-pricing will be happening soon. PRU14 soon.

Budget 2017. To recap, the authority has proposed; (i) fixed line broadband service providers to offer services at a higher speed for the same price, effective January 2017, (ii) the said package’s speed will be doubled with the reduction in prices by 50% within the next two years, (iii) MCMC to provide RM1b to ensure the coverage and quality of broadband nationwide reaches up to 20 Mbps.

Haha, but more people will be interested to "downgrade" to get cheaper 5~10Mbps or quota-based package if available!

Is there an urgency for a confirmation? It is not happening now but by October or delay to year-end or next year.
Just wait and see lah, take it easy, treat it a bonus (as Govt's commitment is by 2019). We are just the white rats (for TM to start implementing another upgrade nationwide) and just hope the free upgrade will be successful and not troublesome. Then we share our experience here.

If you are paying >RM110(+GST) for streamyx, no brainer, migrate to Unifi Lite now (free upgrade is not really the main factor).
You enjoy better service immediately after migration and still paying more or less the same.
Only those paying RM68-RM88(+GST) may hesitate!

Look into the following factors:-
[1] Installation (FTTH): Around RM200 more or less for landed (standard size terrace/SemiD), one-time investment only, if FTTH, you can easily upgrade to 1Gbps in the future! You can opt for free installation but I don't encourage.
[2] If you don't really use voice calls, go for RM129+GST (RM136.75) and voice call will be charged at 10 sen per 30 seconds.
Your Streamyx (RM149 inclusive of GST?): Free calls to TM Fixed line numbers only, call to mobile or other fixed line numbers are not free!
If you add on Unifi STD20 RM20 (So Total RM149+GST): Free 600 minutes calls to all networks including Maxis, Celcom, Digi, Time, then Calls to TM numbers are always free.
[3] No HyppTV box for Unifi Lite!
[4] Sooner or later TM will terminate Streamyx and remove copper network, you still have to migrate to FTTH. It is just a matter of time.
[5] Free speed upgrade and Price cut will happen for FTTH, as the implementation and maintenance cost is cheaper. Streamyx/ADSL has reached its limitations.
[6] Unifi Lite FTTH: Itemised billing and Caller Line Identification Presentation are free (a few RM for Streamyx).
[7] TM will give you 3700 rewards points, you can convert it to a rebate (worth RM37).

Only Kuching and Miri users reported receiving the free upgrade sms till now. I believe TM will upgrade other customers in phases.
