Since you want to talk about 350D, let's me start the differences compare to 30D;

(1) viewfinder no good
(2) autofocus also not good enought. Althought better than 300D la.

But if talk about pure image quality, I think they are the same...

17-85 IS = Kit Lens? Many amateur upgrading

well, anyway. i dun see the need for IS in these wide.

I think there is no 18-55 IS USM..

Been using the 30D for about 7 months now, being my first DSLR, i didn't like the feel of the 350/400D in my hands, and the 30D just felt better.

I remember opting out of the kit lens and head straight with the 50mm F.18, coming from a prosumer (then Canon S2 IS) it sure is good. Shooting at F1.8 - F2 for general shootings, and wow @ ISO 1600 , its really nice and acceptably friendly to my eyes. Too bad the build in flash was a little lack of umph... So tough luck for me to shoot during annual dinners. But that was just a matter of time before i got the 17-40 and 580ex, there with ISO 800-1000 , I get to maintain a adequate amount of desired light with the flash just used as a fill.

The LCD was such a beauty to use but that was before i started to shoot outside under the hot sun.... Some learning curve was incurred to learn how to read the Histogram instead. Got that done , and what I wanted to do next is to try out the continuous burst that the camera can do. Armed with a 135F2 , I sure can get some reach on the basketball court, with the only problem, AF not really that accurate in Ai Servo and AF point set to center.

Hit and misses, being the first , I can't really make much comparison, maybe it may not be the most versatile in terms of mobilty, but hei..... the pictures speak for themselves at the end of the day.

With the new technology, its always nice and cool to know something new and better is improved , being the latest in trend , Anti-Dust Technology and IS built into the camera. Dust - well, if you take some effort to wipe, or shoot at F4 and below, not really and issue , and build in IS , well although the cost of the lens can be reduced, IMHO IS really needs to be at the lens end rather than the body end. Less of those in the camera , and more other improvement and attractive items , is what I call a replacement worth getting unless we are forced to upgrade to to model phase out

how much is eos 30d?

I see most places selling for RM3999 for BODY ONLY. But Can discount I think. Get together with an L lense and probably even better savings.....

OK. Checked out the package. Its a CANON EOS 30D Body(GREY UNIT) paired with the EF-S17-85mm f4-5.6 IS USM lens.

Its a no no for me

bought already with 30D + 17-85 w hoya pro1 + lowepro + manfrotto monopod = RM 5850

but sad to say no more bucks to spend on flash

any suggestion ? canon / metz / nissin or any brand

Oh cool. I guess we both new owners of the 30D. I got mine last Thursday. Paired with a 70-200 F4 L IS and a 50 F1.8, I too have no cash to spend on flash.... You have a Manfrotto Monopod somemore with that package? What else? What Lowerpro did he give you? From YL? Sounds like a great Price. But I am not well versed with the prices should I breakdown each item seperately...

You going for Japan GT with that Monopod?

Yours more power than mine. Actually one shop in Kelantan got the item from YL. YL has a good network. Beside that I bought a used 75-300 lens. Just to learn more. Well your lens is the great. With IS L series nothing cant be captured. I loved to have one. How much you get it? Where?
May I know are a you a fulltime? I need to learn more on photography. I used to slr film long ago. Then I bought fuji 5500 semi slr digital. Then I think its time for dslr. Looks for review here and there. I ended with 30D though nikon is my favour. I hope its a right choice.

you DO know the price for a 5D with its bundled kit lens rite? Calculate la 70-200 F4l IS +50mm witrh 30D and compare the price.

Well this is the best I can get. Maybe one day I'll get the full frame dslr. For a time being I would like to upgrade my knowledge first. Hope all of you out there can give some tips and tricks.
