depends which category you were in during covid infection.
did you require oxygen support or intubation in ICU ?

Otherwise many who had covid had gone diving back.

If you still concerned, just consult a doctor.

Hello all, would like to check if there is/are any procedures required if one is to return to usual diving activities after recovering from covid?

I understand that depending on the severity such as if the lungs are affected and so on, need to consult doctor?

Thanks alot.

Hi there, how long have you recovered? I got COVID on March and just done my first dive few days ago, all good. But yeah, if you are still concerned, maybe can seek a doctor's advise or do a lung checkup.

Hi guys, planning to dive in Perhentian end of June and I’m wondering if anyone could recommend a dive resort based on your personal experience? So far I’ve shortlisted BTS Divers (MIMPI), Universal Divers (Tuna Bay Resort) and Bubbles Dive Resort. Also, is it a good idea to wait till MIDE to see if any of these dive centres might have better deals? I’ve never been to MIDE but I’m aware sometimes there’re good diving packages being offered, but I’m unsure of any of the mentioned dive centres would offer them though. Appreciate your comments.

Can also call them and ask if they can also offer you the MIDE's package price. Most can, minus the lucky draw/goodies.

If getting to MIDE will cost you a lot (flight/accommodation), calls will be a practical move.

The last one I went (2019), I got offered the same or similar package through email (promo newsletter), and I got most equipment much cheaper elsewhere also (note: This is day 1 and 2 prices).

At least still get to meet the community/past instructors, discover new dive sites, and some interesting talks.

Maybe go experience it once.

Thanks so much for your suggestion. I’ve decided to just book with Tuna Bay - Universal Divers for a full board dive package for the convenience of it and the price factor. I came to conclusion that it’s better to avoid the resorts at Long beach (Perhentian kecil) as some of us who went there last month got food poisoning, not sure whether the norovirus is still lurking around by the time we visit. Anyways I still intend to go to MIDE to shop for gears 🤓😛

Wonder if anybody could kindly suggest a dive comp suitable for beginners that’s below RM1.5k? Shortlisted a few:
-Crest CR4
-Suunto D4i
-Mares Smart
-Atmos Mission 1
-Suunto Zoop
-Mares Puck Pro

Appreciate feedbacks from owners of above device 🥲

Avoid the Suunto D4, their straps are crap and will fail within 2-3 years. Happened to mine and also alot of reported issues on forums for crap straps.

Using Suunto Zoop for 3 yrs +... i'm happy with the functionality, except for the fact it's large and bulky.

If MIDE, then maybe add in Shearwater Peregrine/Garmin G1 (non-solar) too, maybe some promo can bring it to/near your price range.

Edit: Garmin 20-25% discount IS a thing. Just if they want to do it or not.

Is the Suunto's algorithm lock still a thing?

Eh? I have no idea. They could be some promotion, especially with the launching of Descent G1.
As for my statement of 20-25% discount, I better just PM you.

Thanks for your feedback! It's a shame that the straps are not durable, I checked the price of strap is about RM200+ , doesn't make sense to purchase this model if I have to deal with changing straps every 2-3 years right? rclxub.gif uuuuh dilemma

I've checked it out and it does look very bulky, esp on a girl's wrist sweat.gif Did you have any problems with the strap?

Hi thanks for your input. I read the shearwater dive comps are good. Only concern is that it is very big, hence not very suitable for all day wearing? Though big displays are actually good also from underwater point of view. I saw another one called Cressi Leonardo, price is much cheaper, anyone is using it currently mind to share your thoughts on it?

Sharing my dive at Labuan last Sunday at an artificial reef off Pulau Rusukan. Many fishes were there including lion fish. Soft coral growth was really good as well.

many 3rd party D4 straps, and if you're using only for dive trips, won't wear out so fast, unless you're the super careless type...then what straps also koyak

i think mine kaput in the middle of the dive at around the 60th dive mark. Lucky i noticed it and was able to secure it to my BCD.
No hard usage just normal i would say, i'm now running the Bagus adapter with NATO straps.

That said, to have to buy secondary straps for a dive comp is nonsense, better to go buy a another brand especially now with so many options. Back when i got mine, it was pretty much Sunnto in the game only, should have gotten a Stinger instead of a D4 in hindsight.

I won't recommend for girls... it's very large and bulky.
I cut the strap to make it shorter since no plan to dive with dry suits.

I seee! Thanks for your input. Can't wait to see what MIDE has to offer.
Heading to Mabul tomorrow and taking AOW, from what is being told we will be provided a dive comp during the course. Wonder what they will give rclxms.gif

Probably Crest or Atmos since they use Buhlmann algorithm.

Mares and Suunto use RGBM (bubble model) which isn't great for a number of reasons which google can tell you about, but for most rec diving the main issue is simply that it gives you less NDL. Both also impose deco lock if you break your deco ceiling, Suunto's is 48 hrs (and will keep resetting to 48 hrs if you dive while it's in a locked state) and Mares is 24 hrs (you can use it in bottom timer/gauge mode, the lock countdown won't reset).

Also a note about size — unless you plan to wear your dive comp as a daily watch, this honestly is no big deal. What's more important is the backlight and whether the screen is easy for you to read. Some models like Puck Pro don't have continuous backlight, you actually have to hold the button for the backlight to come on, then it goes off after like 5 secs. It's VERY annoying on night dives... speaking from experience, I am a former Puck Pro user 😆 (but I don't regret getting it la, got it for RM550 in 2017 and it served me well for 3+ yrs)
