Probably Crest or Atmos since they use Buhlmann algorithm.

Mares and Suunto use RGBM (bubble model) which isn't great for a number of reasons which google can tell you about, but for most rec diving the main issue is simply that it gives you less NDL. Both also impose deco lock if you break your deco ceiling, Suunto's is 48 hrs (and will keep resetting to 48 hrs if you dive while it's in a locked state) and Mares is 24 hrs (you can use it in bottom timer/gauge mode, the lock countdown won't reset).

Also a note about size — unless you plan to wear your dive comp as a daily watch, this honestly is no big deal. What's more important is the backlight and whether the screen is easy for you to read. Some models like Puck Pro don't have continuous backlight, you actually have to hold the button for the backlight to come on, then it goes off after like 5 secs. It's VERY annoying on night dives... speaking from experience, I am a former Puck Pro user 😆 (but I don't regret getting it la, got it for RM550 in 2017 and it served me well for 3+ yrs)

Hi there! Thank you very much for this very helpful review! Indeed I have read about the concerns on dive comp operating with RGBM algorithm, it sounds quite frustrating to have your dive comp locked

I'm deciding on the CREST CR4, hoping to get some good deals tomorrow at MIDE!

Thanks for confirming the RGBM/Fused RGBM algorithm lock. So it's still not yet adjusted.
Sounds like a nightmare, if you plan to venture into tech diving in the future. I may not want an algorithm that will change my deco stop time when in water, even pre-dive planning/gas planning using decompress planning software.

I'm on my second set of x-treme... Trust me when I say it's the easiest and lightest.. I know some may differ but once you get use to it... You will not go for any else

Anyone have any good deals/contacts for dive computer? Looking for either Crest CR4 or Cosmiq+, although leaning more to Cosmiq+. Other suggestions are welcomed

I bought the Crest CR4 for RM950 at MIDE from Scubaholics anonymous. At that time there was another booth selling at RM900 but I missed it. Currently there is a seller selling on Shopee at RM950 with 10% cashback which is pretty worth it imo can just buy online.

I'm using CR4, previously using rented/borrowed Puck.

Display - Bright enough underwater for me (adjustable brightness setting), while personally i dislike negative display of cosmiq+

Battery - Claimed it can last 26 dives per charge. Personally I've done 10 dives within single trip while battery bar ended up roughly 50%. Another thing, I fully charged my comp after the trip, shutdown/power off and kept for 5 months until my next trip, battery dropped to 50%.

Log storage - 900+ (frm website) , while for cosmiq "Up to 200 unsynchronized logs (*Pre-COSMIQ⁺ Gen 5 models stores up to 25 dive logs)"

Log extraction - via bluetooth to their own handphone apps, apps support cloud backup, still hav not figure out how to transfer to PC

Algorithm - both based on Bühlmann, personally i did not change the conservative setting and my NDL seems to be shorter than average. Note: Happened to me few times where my NDL left 4min (that's when i receive alert) and i need to inform the DM personally (DM did check his own comp after i inform him, so I assume DM NDL is longer than mine)

Perhaps abit nick pick is charging the dive comp: CR-4 is using clamp type and it is abit hard to access the port IF you use zulu strap (ori version comes with normal rubber strap)
