ok, PM you the details. quite a cute sales girl  blush.gif as a girl, i still find her interesting. hahahah

yalo, the aerokit is compulsory, but i really hate the "X" infront of the bumper
White will be too busy looking with the "X" infront of the bumper right?  hmm.gif
*
I find the new front design too busy. It's like the Predator in Predator vs Aliens. tongue.gif
I would cover the front "X" with black vinyl. Other countries doesn't even have this bumper inlay. rclxub.gif

White looks great from the back. I pass by UMW storage area everyday and seen it for a while. It grew on me. biggrin.gif
Wouldn't cost a lot to ask accessories shop to stick it while you're getting some other accessories for your new car. biggrin.gif

Black is very troublesome to keep clean if it rains everyday.
Silver is great also if you want less maintenance.

The vios doesn't look good in silver imho  tongue.gif

or repaint the "X" to white color?  hmm.gif
*
True. Silver looks unker/aunty when it's stock.

You've got me thinking.

Actually in Thailand or Indonesia, this is the default face.

I hate the Malaysia version with bodykit and that's one the reason I cancelled my booking. I also feel that the new version has more plastic than the predecessor and another thing of concern is the blind spot monitoring function sometimes will beep without any car beside you, which is odd. According to a reviewer, he said this blind spot function is added by TOYOTA Malaysia instead of TOYOTA itself, so not sure it is installed properly. Overall, it is still a good car for its price.
*
In the end decided what car? biggrin.gif

QUOTE(yanniieee @ Mar 1 2019, 02:23 PM)
yes! Thailand default face is much better looking

Seems like it looks weird with all white  hmm.gif
Btw, I actually asked the SA if they can remove the bodykit for me or come without body kit, and they said I have to do it outside.

Planning to remove the "X" but SA mentioned it will affect the camera?  hmm.gif
*
You can just opt for a black vinyl cover then. I suggest Oracal 970 wrap from a wrapping/tint shop. They last for years.

Its ugly tbh.

Aftermarket bodykit looks better.

[attachmentid=10193453]

or wait for the TRD?

[attachmentid=10193454]
*
The first image is Thailand and China exclusive facelift of the older model.

2nd TRD model is basically Thailand only. But actually the front X can be removed.

This is how it looks like without the bodykit.

Mind you the X version is UMW Toyota's add-on kit. Maybe it can be removed later on or just stick black vinyl on it like I mentioned.

There are two clips that attached to the grill. Just pull it off and then just remove all the sided-tape layers from the X mark kits. I have just removed it this early morning and my car look even more gorgeous! Whoever told u that removing them will affected the car camera is bullshit la! No such thing.
*
I know right. The camera is just below the logo. They're just telling nonsense.

QUOTE(avatar931 @ Mar 3 2019, 11:56 AM)
Got take photos (before, after, the clips) and share information here?

So that new car owners will consider and change if needed.

That's what most owners need right now. laugh.gif

Are we allowed to change those LED light and light bulbs? I also wan to change to white color with bigger volume of light. But, I'm scared of kacau car warranty.
*
I had my license plate and front small lights changed with Osram 5000k T10 bulbs.

The SC nor JPJ/PDRM won't mind it. It is plug & play after all. If you do want to upgrade your headlights bulbs, get a 4300k or 5000k LED/halogen bulb. High performance halogens won't be as lasting (1 year max). Just don't install HIDs, that will cost you 5k summons. sweat.gif

So change in light bulbs doesn’t void the car warranty? Need to confirm before I do it xD
*
Nope.

These key things;

Warranty not void.

1. Light bulbs externally & internally (P&P), aftermarket headlights, taillights.

2. Battery
3. Brake pads
4. Exhaust muffler (After 1 year no warranty)
5. Bodykits
6. OBD tuning kit, ECU-SHOP/UNICHIP (P&P)
7. Chassis reinforcement bars (UR bar, UTR, Super circuit)
8. Rims not more than default size & max 7jj.

Void on areas affected

1. Shocks & springs
2. Engine component (pulley, airbox, air filter, ECU)
3. Rims more than default size +17" + 8jj
4. Aftermarket head-unit & speakers, reverse cam.
5. Exhaust modifications affecting extractor & catalytic converter.

Rule of thumb is electrical splicing & engine component changes will be void with any type of mod.
Personally, I have changed the bolded areas & went to SC without any issues.
Outside servicing, oil changes will totally void your warranty.

TS can append on the front page if it's useful. biggrin.gif

Wipers, tyres as well wont void warranties
*
QUOTE(nagasaran @ Mar 4 2019, 06:18 PM)
Rim and tyre are very subjective. SA told me that not to change rim size to a bigger, it would affect the suspension in future avoiding warranty.
*
As long as it is within the size radius it is fine.

Personally, I'm keeping my stock tyres, though it is not that great with wetter roads. I will change to 195/55/R15 after my current tyre is nearing baldness. Maybe opt for Michelin XM3.

The suspension change & 15" 7jj rims really made a difference to me. I hated the boat like handling when it's stock. I could still load full luggage and carry 3 adults in the back seat.
This is the mod I wouldn't mind voiding as it adds to my driving satisfaction.

Handling wise, I'm not sure if the new facelift is any different though. It is basically the same car still. But I've heard they have retuned the CVT for a more responsive feedback.

Your car bodykit is GX, but not for the tire sports rim..

I installed it outside. Rims are aftermarket. Shocks are aftermarket. It's not a GX model.
I bet you know already from the side-fender signals.

Anyone know how to disable Blind Spot monitoring? I don't seen button for it. So stupid "Pi" sound when giving signal turn into left or right road. So tired of it.
*
That's peculiar. Usually there's a "BSM" button located on the dash. Even the VSC control had a button to disable it. It's funny to have front proximity sensor buttons but not for BSM. Maybe your best bet is to fiddle with the digital screen on your tachometer for info and/or your dashcam as it has crash collision warning system.

Did you read the manual? It will surely give you some info on that.

Vios' hatchback cousin.

The more I see it, the more I think UMW made a lot of unnecessary add-on kits. Gazoo racing made it look rather subtle sans the livery.

I've seen experimental videos on YT on this additive. It seems to be working quite well in cleaning sooty built-up.

A good review here.

Pro-tip: No need to buy SC's fuel additive. laugh.gif

So apparently the lane keep assist is interpolated from the dashcam as if it's always on 360cam settings as you drive it. Good on papers but awful implementation. It's too sensitive for its own good.

New review from Bobby Ang (EvoMalaysia).

How other cars behave when the driver switch lane without turn signal?

His first video mentioned that the sound system is "surprising", but didn't said what that means (good or bad?). Saw few comments asking this question.  laugh.gif

At one point he did disable the sensor right? How did we disable the annoying sound? Is it as easy as pushing a button? I am considering to buy this car but quite turn off from the sensor sounds.

One more question for vios 2019 owner, is the audio sounds decent? My current car (Hyundai i10 2010) have a nicer sound from the speaker than my friend's car (Honda City 2018).
*
Should be in the dashcam interface. It's actually a similar system like Perodua's ASA but less refined.

IMO, soundsystem wise, My final version (2018) uses Kenwood headunit and the sound system is great and for sure it's better than the City. I think the new one has 6 speakers (2 tweeters on the front).

In comparison, the new Myvi is awful in any mode you use. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(Superman07 @ Mar 28 2019, 09:23 AM)
When I collected the car my sales advisor turned it off already so never had such irritating noise. So I am pretty sure it is being enabled/disabled via press of button.
*
Should be in the dashcam interface if you ever wanted to use it again. laugh.gif

I saw one said the front twin plastic that made new Vios so ugly can be removed easily by just handling the double sided tapes. He said no clip on them, just double sided tapes.  hmm.gif
I do think the bodykits looks fine, just the front twin plastics making it too busy looking and becomes ugly. Removing them will make it good looking.  brows.gif
do you all think WD-40 is good enough to remove that plastic twins?
*
Should be fine. But do remember to soak it up with some plastic dressing later to avoid plastic fade.

To solve tailgating problems, very EASY.. For me my car is flitted with rear super HD dashcam with blinking led light every 15 seconds. Used for past 18 months..

Tailgater will follow your car a while and speed away left or right lanes after seeing your rear dashcam led light .. or stop tailgate when seeing rear dashcam at traffic light stop junction.. Good decision making, right?? If Tailgater "kiss", they will losing their car NCD and pay higher insurance premium cost starting next renewal.. From solid evidence point of view, no "horse runaway" if there's any road accident or argument who is right or wrong..

Many car owners installed front dashcam camera,  but  I would encourage all car owners to install for rear dashcam too. Like new Vios, rear dashcam is optional and cost rm 350..

Easy to get and install, with WiFi connectivity .. Upload and Download through WiFi.. Alternatively, take out rear dashcam Micro SD card and put it into computer to retrieve image.

Edited : I replied at City forum and copy/paste here  as well on importance of rear dashcam and tailgating matter..

Had mine installed from my previous car. best handover "mod" ever.

QUOTE(rgchai @ Apr 16 2019, 03:11 PM)
I have the same feeling too, disappointed with Toyota quality. My Vios 2015 comes with 3 years warranty. First few months driving found out minor 'tick' sound inside dashboard. Toyota test it and found out it's due to the airbag cable not arranged properly and it's knocking other parts inside dashboard. Toyota open the whole dashboard to fix it.

After 2 years, realized my front window has bubbles around the border inside the window. Complaint to Toyota and they said is manufacturing defect, helped me to claim under warranty to replace the whole front window.

After 3 years of driving and out of warranty, I realized a minor short 'tick' sound when start to turn steering from static, happening intermittently. Drive to Toyota to test, and told me need to replace the Steering Rack. Just passed the warranty for about 4 months and can't claim under warranty. The replacement of steering rack plus labor cost about RM3.6k+. My car only at less then 50,000 km mileage but the steering rack needed for replacement? So this is Toyota quality - the steering rack could failed in 3 years time! I did emailed to Toyota support (customersupport@toyota.com.my) to request to claim under Warranty but no reply from them.

The customer service told me they had replaced few steering racks on this model, seemed like this model mostly having common issue. I felt reluctance to pay for it, maybe wait for it to become more serious only to replace it. Who knows... if I replace it and maybe need to replace again by next 3 years? So it's about RM1.2K extra maintenance cost yearly for a new car? Sound worst then maintaining an old car! Last time I drove Myvi for 9 years never has any issue before.

By conclusion, you can see that the Vios is not longer has good QC and parts quality as before. If anyone has idea on how to take further action on this apart from just pay RM3.6K to fix the steering rack please comment.

Thank you.

Could it be the steering rack noise issue? This gen City is infamous for it, even until FL this problem is still not solved the factory. Need for SC to fix the problem.

^ was randomly browsing other car club threads and found out the same steering rack issue. It's just too common for newer cars for some reason.
