So after 10000km  ,  those using mineral oil will hv to switch to full synthetic  since service interval increases to once every 10k ?
*
From what I've experienced, Toyota devotely uses semi-syns and not mineral oil in default. Unless you requested for it.

bumping own request.

on another unrelated matter, my new suspension setup kept hitting my fender even on the slightest bump.
posted this issue in another forum and hopefully someone is able to assist.

I just picked up my NCP42 few days ago and the tires kept hitting the fender.
the parts that were installed for the entire suspension were:

1. APM Performax Absorber
2. APM Performax Spring
3. 250mm spacer
4. Front lower arm
5. KYB front absorber bush
6. KYB Front Absorber Mounting
7. SILICONE SATAY BUSH

its driving me crazy. its lowered and the stance is nice but hitting the fender each time is stupidly driving me nuts.

the cheapest solution
1. install spring buffer
2. install back the stock spring
3. Change to lower profile tires (do not wish to do this as i just changed 2 months ago)

any advice is much appreciated.

Remove your spacers. You're using 195/60/R15 tyres? It rubs like hell.

lol. My car not more than half year, also only able to go to 420km until fuel indicator lights up (AVG 400km+-, 13km/l only).

Normally in city drive, with one passenger.

Any advise to get more FC? I am using Petronxs 95.

Thanks.
*
That's too low. Maybe ease on the throttle and coast when nearing to a stop or corner.
Slip to N when in standstill traffic.

My best is 490KM in 70:30 city:highway traffic

Having more than 70% air temp. level or 2nd level+ A/C blower also would affect your fc.

My aircon level always at 75% cool , should I lower it to maybe 50%?
*
Yeah you should. It's pretty cold to me at 30% even. I always turn it down after getting the right temp.

You ever driven the older model Vios? Our CVT compared to the old 4-speed is a huge difference in terms of initial acceleration.
Old Vios only need a little bit of tap to accelerate but for CVT it needs more (tuned for fuel saving).
That might be why you press the throttle more for it to go from 0KMH thus affecting your FC.

But ours is a lot more fuel efficient in non-spirited driving cos 80KMH is only like 1,700 RPM when the older one is 2,000RPM (more cycles means more fuel burning).

Indeed it runs like hell. I have removed the spacer last weekend and no rubbing since then. I thought of testing till end of week and report back.

Thanks for the feedback and solution.
Also, anyone here installed a subframe braces before?
Do they serve any purpose?

I'm getting a front struts tower bar first when I get the chance.

The most you could go with chance of rubbing or full lock steering is 205 series tyres.
It is to increase rigidity your torsion beam suspension, making it flex/sway less (decreased bodyroll) during hard turns but mind you it will be bumpier across the vehicle as the balance is spread throughout the rear.

Ultra Racing has 2 types of these bars. One for roll reduction (solid bar) and another to rigidify your torsion beam (hollowed bar, with multiple install points). These thai-made "subframes" are usually milled aluminium (less rigid, tendency to crack is higher) and served a similar purpose, but it is fancier with lesser function. It is more for cars with multi-link suspension (Persona, Preve, Wira, Civic etc).

At the moment, I'll stick to my 195 and utilize it until the next change.

So far when I searched online, there are 2 types of 'safety' bar.
1. Anti roll bar
2. Rear tower strut bar.

I believed the one u mentioned with hollowed bar is the rear strut bar.

Just wanted to know more feedback on which is the best choice for the rear.

Thank you all for advice and feedback.

That boot bar is more for racing than day to day. What I mentioned are these:

Thanks so much for your advise.

r u always drive with eco indicator on?
*
Not really. I vroom2 more during the morning commute. But on longer stretched roads, I usually gradually accelerate thus ECO indicator will on.

Mind you the eco indicator is only an indicator and it does nothing. What it calculates is your throttle input (RPM + speed).

Thanks. I know that the ECO light only for indicator purpose.

However, is tyre pressure and petrol brand affect FC?
Usually my tyre pressure in 220kpa front n rear and using Petronxs since got 8% rebate during weekend.
I personally prefer Shel actually.lol.
*
Fuel not so much but tyre pressure somewhat. 220kps is good enough.

Guys if I need to change battery and I decide to do it outside, it wouldn't affect warranty for the car right?  Or I need to let Toyota change my battery?
*
Tyre, breakpad, lightbulbs, battery and exhaust (muffler + piping after 1 year) are separate from the warranty and thus won't affect anything.

QUOTE
c) Battery

During the first 12 months from date of first registration or 20,000 km travelled, whichever occurs first, a defective original equipment battery supplied will be replaced free of charge.

d) Tyres

Tyres are warranted under a separate warranty provided by the tyre manufacturer. Kindly refer to us for details.

e) The replacement of normal maintenance parts such as spark plug, distributor points, drive belts (including air-cond belts), wiper blades, brake lining and pads, lamp bulbs, fuses, filters, refrigerant, receiver drier, lubricants and fluid are not covered, when they are replaced as maintenance service ordinarily required with vehicle use, except in cases where these parts are replaced as a result of clearly discernible defect in material or workmanship.

f) Parts and components in below categories including but not limited to the following:

    Engine system

    - oil seals, hoses, tubes, clamps, clips, core plugs, tensioners, timing belts, bearings and engine mountings. (unless replacement of any parts covered under warranty).

Wah.. seems a lot parts not cover by 5 years warranty 😲😲
*
It's normal for these item to be excluded as they're fast wearing.

So those who die die wanna claim warranty must study what's covered and what's not covered.

If let say gearbox suddenly KO for no reason or car cannot start for no reason, can claim.

Also, if rats come and bite your wiring system, it's not covered.

What's not covered.

Hi, anyone here uses F-Tuned CLS for their NCP150? Need some verdict on it before I install one. And I heard some people saying after changing the stock spring, your car will start having rattling noise etc. Is that true? Awaiting all sifus reply and feedback.
*
I cannot give you an opinion on the brand but speaking from friend's advice, it's a lot better than Performax.

I'm using Zer0ne by Kakimotor (homebrand) that makes suspension etc, since August and it's been very good for me performance and comfort wise. I can corner with more confidence and coupled with 7jj rims, highway driving has substantially improved. Still can seat 4/5 person comfortably. Do note that if you ANYHOW lower a car, don't go hit a speedbump like you'd usually do. It will surely hit your fenders and if you do that frequent enough, I'm not surprised if you'd get rattling noises here and there.

My next mod will be Ultra Racing rear rollbar and front strut bar to further improve cornering performance.

If you ask me to return back to stock suspension set-up, I'd rather don't drive it. Clearly, I chose a Vios due to reliability and not performance. But that doesn't mean I'll settle for what it provides.

Anyway, have been driving my 2018 Vios for 7 months, Average fuel consumption only around 13km/l, with shxll RO95.
99% city drive with one passenger and eco light on most of the time.

I think this is the best I can get? Am I need to do any tuning from Toyota SC? to get higher FC?
*
Nothing else you can do now unless you wanted to tinker with the engine air filter or crank pulley.

Suggest you to try Ron95 and see if it helps. I've heard good reviews about it.

Oops. I forgot to add BHP. Can try that. For Ron97 if you're always on the highway and with constant speed <120km/h should be beneficial. It does enhance the pickup (not very noticeable) and the additives will clean up your fuel system more.

Will be getting my unit this week since I changed my original booking colour from Blue to White as my salesperson told me now white they have available stock. And on second thought blue is tough to take car in the sense even hairline scratches can be visible (good experience because my current car is black in colour).
*
QUOTE(hightechgadgets8 @ Feb 25 2019, 11:41 AM)
white need more attention, ie: washing at least once a week
*
Also polish half yearly (it'll turn yellowish from all the rain & asphalt, + roadtar). Wax every month to reduce dirt/bird droppings sticking onto the paint.
Extra step, polymer spray once every wash to lengthen the wax performance.

Unless you ceramic coat the car for quite a sum (700-3k), no need to wax anymore. But will still need to wash 2/3 times a month to maintain the coating.

Nonetheless, Silver > Lighter colour > darker colour is the sequence for ease of maintenance & perceived cleanliness.

Once I get the new car I will send for prep and waxing while washing it every weekend followed by spray wax. Will wax once every 2 months or so (spray wax for interim between waxes). Hopefully with the said methods I can keep it super clean.

That is more than sufficient for sure. I'm currently using Soft99 Kiwami hybrid wax & Sensha Fine crystal spray. Their Kiwami shampoo is great too.

Swapped to 4300K Seoul-CSP chip LEDs to replace my 6000k multi-colour mode LEDs which lasted a year until one of it flickers like crazy.

More pronounced beam pattern due to its slimmer profile & the warmer white gives out a better field-of-view during rainy driving.
I've driven the new Myvi and visibility during heavy rain isn't that great. It's due to the more bluish tone 6500k colour spectrum.

Actually phone camera/screen doesn't reproduce the same light temperature. A wee more whiter than halogen. It's like Osram Nightbreakers with a tinge of white.

Polish the mirror cover, measure/adjust the columns/row, peel out and DIY.    rclxm9.gif
Sticker quality is quite OK  hmm.gif  and so far, lasted 1 year without any sign of sticker deteriorate ..

Price is variable between M'sian sellers but it's within RM130-150. I've got contacts in Guangzhou so it's a wee bit cheaper for me. biggrin.gif

Can show us how your sticker looks?

any new vios owner here? Looking to buy 1, still duno which 1 to get, E spec or G Spec?  Difference 6k;

here is what is the difference for 6k;

1) 16 inch VS 15 inch (can upgrade michelin primacy 4 next time if get high spec icon_idea.gif)
2) Rear disc VS Rear drum (don't really care, not driving fast in a vios)
3) Projector Halogen VS Multi-reflector Halogen (still no HID??)
4) Chrome door handle VS Body color handle (dont care..)
5) Multi info display VS Normal display (might be useful to count how many km to petrol station)
6) Steering bluetooh, MID, Audio button VS Audio button only (ok, this 1 quite useful)
7) Leather interior VS Fabric interior (Leather of course better for me, can wipe off dirt easily)
8) Leather steering & gearknob VS Uretrane Steering & gearknob (major touch point, sure must have leather  icon_rolleyes.gif )
9) Parking sensor front & back VS Rear only (ok ok la.. but useful also if give mom drive)
10) 6 speaker VS 4 Speaker (lul.. doh.gif .)
Those things worth 6k?
*
1. 16" tyres are a lot more expensive (sometimes more than 17")
2. Newer tech will make it indistinguishable ( I saw a conparo vid)
3. The trend now is reflector LEDs (Built in LEDs will not give u freedom to change and if it ever breaks, will be hefty to fix)
4. Doesn't matter
5. This is useful (worth it)
6. Can be modded / swapped eventually.
7. Personal preference
8. Steering wheel & gearknob can be customized. There's a lot of workshops offering leather/suede tailoring nowadays (Can customize seat cover too)
9. It's a good add-on but not a must and can be installed separately.
10. An added experience

IMO, yes and no. It depends on your gut feeling. thumbup.gif

Nice. I've transferred the Mi Yi Camera from my old car to the back. It works well. Just wifi connect to the cam via your own phone to access the device. It also has a sudden high car movement detection when it's on.

QUOTE(lotiman2003 @ Feb 28 2019, 06:21 PM)
Hi there, if you want the leather seat I recommend you to do it outside because the original quality is not that good. I believe 3k can get a good one but I personally feel the G spec a better buy because you are getting more such as 360 camera, MID, etc.
*
Just hopefully the 360 cam won't get as much failures. it has plagued the previous TRD ver.

QUOTE(xemoboyx @ Feb 28 2019, 06:56 PM)
So hard to choose  rclxub.gif Most things can be added, but will the cost of adding those item amount to 6k? Oh ya, forgot to add, G spec got pedal shifter, also useless for me la, since i don't drive fast in daily commute  laugh.gif If only they have cruise control, then 6k for me is justifiable. Yea, i get the point about LED headlamp, if kong, need to change whole housing, that is 1 of the reason i stay away from honda city. (plus their service center is shit) As for tire, i don't mind abit more expensive, i expect 15 inch Michelin to be around 220-250. and 16inch to be rm100 more expensive? Small matter anyway since tire only change once in 3-4 years, or 60-80k km
You are right, G spec seems to be a better buy. Any reason why u say the leather seats are not that good? Anyways, in the brochure, they say it's Perforated combination leather, not nappa, so i guess cannot compare with VW those high end car, should be same with Myvi quality leather.

i will make my deposit to the SA tmr, curently leaning towards high spec d.. duno if i have made the right choice  sweat.gif Sorry vios thread for posting my dilemma here
*
Just get the G for a piece of mind. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(Superman07 @ Feb 28 2019, 08:33 PM)
Well I’ve got the G because I don’t want to install anything non original outside to risk my warranty while I find the paddle shifter useful since this car is not really powerful so having it to downshift is a plus point to me. Well whether it worth the extra 6k or not over E spec I guess it is to me but if differs from person to person.
*
Still need to toggle the gear lever to manual mode to use the paddles I reckon.

QUOTE(yanniieee @ Feb 28 2019, 11:27 PM)
which color looks better? the black? or the white? afraid that white will turn yellow-ish years later
*
White. It's yellowish because of the accumulated rain spots and microscopical dust. If you're rajin enough, half yearly polish will do and then top up with wax to retain it. Same for the headlights. After 3 years there will be yellowing if you don't coat it to retain the OEM UV coating.
