if not mistaken the 5 free hd-dvd is only valid for U/S Resident only (Which is why they send it via postage)

you can use the U/S Xbox 360 HD-DVD player on any machine since it has no region lock.

some tv can support 1080p thru component.. but now no more.. hard to find already.

you mean a device VGA to HDMI ah? not sure can work want wor.

plus.. 1080P requires 24" for monitor. and LCD TV / Plasma 46" above.

yup ...u r rite.....as the distribution right for most of SONY movie in Europe is handled by different company, and not like Bluray, all HD-DVD disk r Region-free. There will be more titles announced for HD-DVD, and I except the same thing too will happen for HD-DVD exclusive for Bluray, except titles from Universal Studio. Again, I will like to re-iterate that both formats can co-exist for the time being until their numbers r equal or exceeding the sale of DVD...then only, we'll c the true color of all of the movie making companies....

My sharp G7 can output 1080p for gaming and 1080i only for HD-DVD movies through the component input. But, it has no problem to output 1080p resolution for HD-DVD through VGA-DVI-I input (xbox 360- dot to dot/pixel to pixel) and the same goes for my PC connection for 1080p (dot to dot/pixel to pixel)on either DVI-HDMI or DVI-DVI connections...so, I am pretty sure that there wont be any problem for your PC to do the same too....for 1080p resolution at your LCD TV, but bear in mind that not all 1080p LCD TV have a great internal scalar for 1080p on DVI input, which currently is limited to Sharp and Samsung Models...and sorry to say that Sony Bravia X is excluded from the list.

So brabus..kat kampung ke now??????? thumbup.gif

Thanks for sharing the info. I didn't know Sharp G7 could do that. For Samsung models, are you referring to their M8 series? hmm.gif

The samsung M8 series do not have dvi input, and only the vga input which is limited to 720p resolution...but it has no problem for 1080p resolution through DVI-HDMI input for PC connection, and similar like G7, 1080p resolution fthrough component input (gaming only). Seems like someone here is buying Sammie 1080p..M series..aaaa...... drool.gif

U guys can always hook up with a mail forwarding service provider in the US (not PO Box mind you) and get all the stuff forwarded to MY. If cost-sharing, may be feasible. e.g. http://www.usabox.com/

w00t...Angelina jolie is in the house...MR. AND MRS. SMITH [POLISH HD DVD RELEASE]..with english audio and polish subtitle in HD-DVD only http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/smith-po...se-p-12323.html
and it is supposedly to be an exclusive title from Fox for Bluray...but has been scrapped and not to be released in US..and thanks to free region of HD-DVD..we got to enjoy it first...and who said that Studio Exclusivity is a big deal...its only on the paper... (thre are other Bluray exclusive titles imported by Xploted cinema to US too..chx it yourself)

And from other site..Transformer is expected to hit HD-DVD on 3rd Dec.. http://www.blahdvd.com/blah/HD_Home.aspx

NOTE: more exclusive titles for Bluray will be released in HD-DVD by European Distributors, and might be not released in US for Bluray due to cheaper production and manufacturing costs for HD-DVD

Yesterday I was at PC Fair browsing for a new printer, blank discs, and potentially cool stuff (booth babe LOL). Anyway, at the Toshiba booth, I was intrigued by the higher end Toshiba Qosmio laptops, which include a built-in HD DVD drive! They come in 2 variants; the HD DVD-ROM/DVD-RW drive or the HD DVD-R drive. Both models have an HDMI output so you can watch it on a big screen TV. Too bad I don't have an AV receiver that can do Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD sad.gif
