QUOTE(abgkik @ Oct 26 2020, 09:47 AM) Bumi Armada most probably JV with Shaporji Palongi as usual.. On paper, only Bumi Armada have the floater track records compare to SP. First round SP didn’t bid with Bumi. Don’t think Bumi even bid first round. Now their financial position and future a bit more secure.MISC will participate, I don't think they have issue on Financial & manpower. Yinson most probably participate alone without JV this time. Not sure how MTC gonna participate without strong fund. But SP and Bumi already have 4 existing JV fpso. Will this be against them? |

QUOTE(Qutub @ Oct 26 2020, 10:57 PM) Project awarded based on Commercial and Technical. This will be on an open tender and will be supervised by PCSB. If you asked Sapura Lumut then of course they want everything but those at Sapura Seri Kembangan will say otherwise. It is depending on the CPP topsides size. Do you know how many Sapura Lumut Yard has done the CPP? How many sapura yard done cpp, meaning? They got no expertise kah? |

QUOTE(Qutub @ Nov 21 2020, 06:58 AM) The FPSO's requirement is to process 40k bpd of oil and 150mmscfd of gas, store 60k bpd of liquids, and inject 75k bpd of water. MISC has many tankers of this size but the problem is MISC still wants to maintain the tanker class as a ship. That is their strategy to avoid the vessel from underutilizing. I heard MTC is not going with Shapoorji 2nd round, Shapoorji is with Armada. Not sure tho. 1st round Armada never participate. The bidders are: 1. MISC 2. Yinson 3. SIP 4. MTC - Shapoorji Pallonji Oil & Gas of India 5. MODEC 6. SBM As Limbayong is in SABAH by right it should go to SIP as FPSO Bukit Tua is available soon. I don't think PETRONAS will give it to Yinson as Yinson won $5.4 billion contracts in Brazil. |

Are Malaysian FPSO players (Bumi Armada, Yinson, MISC etc) on par with the global leaders such as Modec, SBM Offshore and BW Offshore?
Also, is it fair to say FPSO demand will increase in the coming decade as oil&gas companies exploit marginal fields? |

Guys, I have been looking into FPSO history for Malaysian operators (Yinson, MISC, Bumi Armada). What I have read says that FPSO contracts are long term in nature, and the day charter is fixed and not impacted by fluctuations in oil prices. At the same time, there are built-in protections for the field operators (e.g. if termination, must pay penalty).
What happened with Bumi Armada in Balnaves with Woodside though? How come Woodside terminated the contract and Bumi Armada was never able to claim through the courts? I see there is not much actual documentation on this online. If anyone here knows the details, please share. TQ! |

Guys has Limbayong FPSO project been delayed further? Petronius activity outlook says the project sanction date has been deferred from 2020 to 2022!

QUOTE(abgkik @ Jan 7 2021, 02:19 PM) I believe MISC resource is good. They are the only Malaysia FPSO company taking the initiative to hire, and they gonna get excellent engineers as many of them are available. Curious about Bumi Armada. They have the 98/2 Kakinada FPSO...should be a pretty major project. But they don't seem to be involved in the engineering/designing of the FPSO? Looks like all the people hired are working for Shapoorji O&G in Singapore. |

QUOTE(ZZMsia @ Jan 8 2021, 10:10 AM) From my understanding from friend in BAB, most of the work been done by SP. Not sure if they treat the new hires under JV level, but another engineer I know is hired under SP (I did not query whether SP or SP JV). Is there a reason Bumi Armada is being sidelined / taking a back seat? As I recall, past Bumi-Shapoorji JVs...Bumi was the one leading the fort in terms of design and development expertise. |

QUOTE(xxxdhonamaria @ Jan 9 2021, 11:30 AM) hopefully, misc will get limbayong too, or maybe MTC or Bumi Armada but please not the "Y". i think it is better to award the project to contractor that will hire and utilize local engineers/resources. Is there any front runner for this? I find it odd that Bumi Armada is considered a global Fpso player but they never got a single contract from Petronas...or any Fpso contract for that matter in Malaysia. Are they considered “foreign” by any chance? From what I know they hire in house for their Fpso designs, unlike Yinson who outsource, and a lot of their hires are local engineers. |

QUOTE(mohdyakup @ Jan 22 2021, 12:03 PM) Biden policy towards O&G. Would this not rather be supportive of O&G environment?Biden, as all known, is a tree lover. He is strong to push renewable agenda, unlike Trump. Thats why on the first day Biden in the Oval Office, he declare wanted to rejoin Paris Climate Declaration. And he revoked Keystone Xl pipeline projects. I think, ongoing FID for the major LNG projects in the US will be shelved or revoked too - coming soon? Also, do expect incoming news about fracking, mesti kena revoked juga rasanya. So, expect another four years of "cold" O&G environment, under investment, not enough funding, puts more pressure on O&G development. Huhu. ![]() |
