Not much. Depending on Petronas as always. Rumor says not so great 2021. My buddies in Petronas admit the same especially the new CEO join in and additional fund requested by gomen.

But current oil price + pandemic is major cause.

Brend hit USD65 today! USD5 increase in less than 2 weeks.

I’d rather see a stable price over immediate and unsustainable increase. Easier for the development planners to come up with economics of any projects.
*
Hopefully it meet USD70 and constant from there. Iirm Petronas mentioned last time, 70usd is where they will feel comfortable to push Project work.

Below that u see they put handbrake

Hi Guys,
What is the latest sop going offshore?
Quarantine 14 days before mob and 14days after demob?
If working freelance, will the company give allowance during quarantine? Thanks.
*
By buddies at Petronas, to minimize traveling movement, 14 days quarantine at Miri, then straight away 52 at offshore. Going back another 14 days quarantine at Miri b4 back to KL.

Start late last year, no more 14 days quarantine after demob from offshore, straight can go kl

These kind of accident make me reluctant to work offshore back. My last offshore was 3 years ago then joined shipyard industry. Due to covid, lay off and stuff, join back oil & gas company early this year.

Cons nowadays, thanks to covid, need to offshore stay minimum 56 days, plus mandatory 14 days quarantine. My mutual friends had this Baram bridge accident last year. Now come this Naga 7 incident. Hopefully no more in future

Permanent staff didn’t understand the risks PO staff face bring on contract basis. There is no job security for PO staff, they could lose their jobs over night.

Fresh graduate possible to enter oil and gas industry?

Tried applying to few organizations but keep failing sweat.gif

Plus most of the jobs requires 5+ years experience in Oil&Gas itself.  sweat.gif
*
possible but there are fewer openings nowadays. unless Petronas come out with big spending for the new project, then the domino effect to local vendor, contractor is there. so hiring come next especially local contractor as they tend to hire fresh grad for budget etc

QUOTE(ZZMsia @ Jun 22 2021, 06:44 PM)
https://www.theedgemarkets.com/article/serb...kpmg-negligence

After deliberation, Serba Dinamik Bhd's board has decided to take legal action against its external auditor KPMG PLT, which has shone the limelight on the oil & gas outfit for the wrong reasons, after it raised red flags on its client’s financial accounts.

It alleged that KPMG had been negligent and breached its contractual and statutory duties to the group.

"We filed the action early this morning. We wanted to do it last night. [After filing the action this morning], we served a copy of the writ on KPMG.

"The court documentation has not been officially sealed. We are not allowed to give a copy [of the court document],” the group's legal consultant Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah told a media briefing today. The session is still ongoing.

Shafee pointed out that KPMG had raised the red flags in an inappropriate manner. “KPMG should have resorted to meeting the client and raising the (audit) issues one by one to find out the answers,” he said.

Meanwhile, the company’s newly-appointed chairman Datuk Mohamed Ilyas Pakeer Mohamed claimed that the external auditor “has blown the audit issues out of proportion".

According to him, the issues raised by KPMG are not related to the company’s revenue nor its bottomline. “Serba Dinamik is a healthy company,” he told the media.

Serba Dinamik said KPMG’s red flagging has tarnished its corporate image. “It has portrayed that there are a lot of inappropriate things happening in Serba Dinamik."

“As a result, the company’s market capitalisation has lost over RM3 billion. This is a big sum for an oil & gas company… shareholders have suffered,” said Mohamed Ilyas, who was appointed to the board as independent director last week.

He was redesignated as the chairman of the board two days later.

The company’s former chairman Datuk Mohamed Nor Abu Bakar quit after he was made an independent director.

To recap, Serba Dinamik has been embroiled in an auditing dispute with KPMG, after its auditor highlighted discrepancies involving transactions to the tune of RM4.54 billion to the company’s independent directors last month. The issues raised were based on the financial accounts for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2020.

The company has announced that its board had agreed in principle to appoint Ernst & Young Advisory Services Sdn Bhd (EY) as its independent reviewer to "assess the veracity and accuracy" of the matters highlighted by KPMG.

It said an updated announcement will be made upon the finalisation of terms and conditions of the said appointment.

Since the audit issues were made known to the investing public, the company’s institutional investors, including the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and Permodalan Nasional Bhd, have voiced concerns over the company’s governance.

Meanwhile, institutional shareholders have cut their stake in the company.

The EPF had sold 17.12 million shares between June 2 and June 15, leaving it with 351.73 million shares or 9.48%.

Kumpulan Wang Persaraan Diperbadankan, which had a 5.2% stake in Serba Dinamik, ceased to be a substantial shareholder as of June 1, after disposing of 26.18 million shares or 0.7% between May 31 and June 1.

This occurred while Serba Dinamik's two largest shareholders were buying further into the company. Serba Dinamik founder and group chief executive officer Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah had since raised his stake to 27.07% as of May 31.

Karim reiterated his stance that the management “has done nothing wrong” at the media briefing today.

Too early to know.

My colleagues in Repsol said that permanent staff could be absorbed by Hibiscus but again whether Hibiscus wants to retain all the Repsol legacy permanent staff is still a mystery. The Hibiscus team is very lean.

Time will tell.
*
I have colleagues with Repsol and he also said now is not a good time for him. Definitely they will some retrenchment practice and some will retain to join hibiscus company.

I know my other friends with Hess also in that situation. Every month they will having a "birthday party" as their names were selected to layoff.

QUOTE(bohtakchinalways @ Aug 15 2021, 11:48 AM)
24 crew and offshore workers test positive for coronavirus after offshore support vessel arrives in Bintulu

A Sarawak lawmaker has reportedly blamed national oil company Petronas for a new coronavirus outbreak in the state’s oil and gas town Bintulu in Malaysia.

Bintulu Member of Parliament Tiong King Sing claimed that the potentially fatal Covid-19 was found in many of those on board the Grade One Manjung 7 (GOM 7), a Malaysia-flagged anchor handling vessel that had been working for Petronas.

The vessel had entered Bintulu port in Sarawak, East Malaysia in early July.

Tiong alleged that the GOM 7 had failed to carry out the compulsory 14-day vessel quarantine upon arrival as stipulated by the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) and had also allowed workers to disembark or others to board during that fortnight.

Less than a week after docking at Bintulu, more than 20 offshore workers had boarded the vessel before it departed for a platform on Petronas Carigali's D18 field, reported Focus Malaysia.

Subsequently, 24 of those from the GOM 7 - 22 crewmen and two oil rig workers - last week tested positive for Covid-19 after the vessel returned to Bintulu.

“They include two oil rig workers who were found to be positive with Covid-19, but the company failed to disclose the truth to the Health Department during an investigation. This behaviour by a government-linked company is irresponsible and contemptuous at the least,” said Tiong.

The Sarawak authorities said they would be inspecting offshore oil and gas platforms offshore Bintulu to ensure that coronavirus protocols are being followed.

Tiong said he has asked the Health Department to conduct the inspections and to close down offshore operations if correct procedures were not being adhered to.

The state authorities want oil and gas players to organise vaccination programmes for their employees working in Sarawak, including those working at the Petronas LNG Complex at Bintulu.

I wonder if the company is Petros. Would it be same scenario?

QUOTE(Stamp @ Sep 13 2021, 04:11 PM)
One common resentment that the current staff have against the management is that there are too many "org kapal" within the organisation.

One wonders how did those ppl manage to get work permits in the country when there were scores of  qualified locals who were out of job. The HR Minister then was seen as looking the other way when mountains of complaint about too many "org kapal" being employed by the company were brought up to his ministry. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to guess that he had affinity with the "org kapal".

Somehow despite their tight financial position now, they are moving in to their brand new HQ in KLCC area soon from The Mines. Their subcontractors must be annoyed that their invoices to the company have not been paid and yet the company has money for the big move to the new HQ.
*
usually they hire their guys as HR Manager, then from there this selective people get selected
