any idea why Sarawak Work Permit (SWP) becomes more difficult, almost cannot get approval since this year. Few project engineers, crew cant mob due to this SWP

There's a post in LinkedIn, the higher fuel price only benefiting the Petronas as a whole but all local vendors, supplier, contractor are still struggling a lot. Yet the covid claim was only at 5% claimed so far. I assume most project price were put when the fuel price was at low price

My project, the SWP is making sure most engineer, vendors rep cant mob to offshore. They keep asking to get replacement by local asap if want the job to run as usual.

yup, thats what we all facing now. every time a bid comes in, the expectations on the price were going to quote gets stopped halfway haha. the usual discount then the other usual discount and price slashed. i've read one strong statement from a linkedin user, its time for service vendors all to stop cut throating each other and do a united front in maintaining a price hike(within reasonable figures tho). But will this materialise within any service provider.

back then with Sapura, they did perform a site survey, a workpack team work b4 bidding the project, not even know if they can get that scope. Then the finance/contract dept will calculate with some buffer in case worst scenario situation. Once they get it, then only they hire an execution team/ project team.

Be it at other HUC companies, most projects bidding were done without proper check hence many scopes were not covered but in contract, they fall under Contractor. in the end rugi too much.

had one HR from MISC contacting me for an Engineer post. the salary range seems quite low, normal?

Have a few went there from underpaid companies and got a good raise
Note their current project is moving from engineering and procruement to construction phase.

Only at starting 5 figure rate, already maximum there. Not sure if the post offered is low budget or Misc had new rate.

work with the HUC division back in 2013-2017, during that time no issue on finances, able to complete all project within schedules, get bonuses to range from company and project bonus. after the fuel price fiasco in 2016, they never seem to get back as per before.

Same situation. Was told it will improve by Jan this year, but Still stuck. Almost all engineers application still pending. They want the local candidates to be found within 3 months then only the application will approve if cant find any

As a small level workers like me, the Serba Dinamik was in great shape back in 2019. Many of my colleagues get offered to work with them, salary not that high but reasonable. They also get one abroad project from middle East, and media keep showing them or their founder was very good; starting from Petronas vendor head to one big company.
