When did U first notice the problem ... before update or after win update?
Why did u disable the system restore. This is the time when it comes in handy. Only disable system restore when u have other program for backup when a rollback is needed.

of course after windows update. it seems microsoft gave shitty updates for vista users.

i've search for the problem through the web and they also got the same problem after windows update. so far no solution for it unless to revert using system restore. I disable system restore cuz its useless. i never succeed using it since windows xp. it Restored NOTHING to my system from the 1st day i use XP. simply useless.

I also update my vista but didn't encounter that problem. Most probably it's not becoz of the update alone. Maybe a software conflic or somesort. If it is becoz of win update then lots of people will be screaming right now with the same problem including me.

If u hated system restore so much why didn't u use other backup software? It's a good practice to backup your stuff when using such a new and unexplore stuff like vista.

If u dont mind reinstalling windows then go ahead but if u do, wait for a few days and see if other people can find the sollution.

yea i dont mind reinstalling vista. In fact thats my only option. I just here to share my problem i u all have encountered and share the resolution if any u have one.

i dont need ANY backup software for any of my systems cuz i know what im doing.

i dont think it's a software conflict. cuz this is related to the system main components, control panel, system properties, not to mention i CANNOT run WINDOWS UPDATE too!

i dont have much software installed in my vista ultimate though. in fact i just use normal application like office 2007 enterprise, some multimedia platers and some games. So im VERY sure it is NOT a software compatibility or some sort. I encountered the problem after i ran windows update.

overall, i think this is somekind of BUG related.

It seems to me that Microsoft detected ur copy are pirated and thus reduce function and u won;t able to update. Not so sure though..

so, it's no any idea except this menthod???

Im using Flashget @ IDM..( Internet Download Manager ) to download stuffs...

I tried many times to reload the pages...suddenly it cannot be loaded one.

so frustrated..after restarting ..then it backs to normal?

Oh? hi speed downloader would cause those problems one huh ?

apparently the dl manager is hogging all the bandwidth tmnutz has allocated to u, thus causing the unable to load webpage

I am also having this problem, bt is moving but cannot surf, need to restart only can. Btw, i am back to winxp, no such problem , wonder who can help us with this problem very damn annoying

I was facing this problem when still using XP, i cant surf the net but the BT still donwloading, and the P2P download is not working as well. I need to restart my router then only able to surf the net.
For my case, i think it didn't related to the computer even the OS, it is the router problem.

So far, this problem nvr happen after switch to Vista.

if ur using pirated copy, u CANNOT do windows update! i've been using it for sometime already. oh not to mention that mine is an OEM copy of vista ultimate though.

Nope still cannot surf, now i am back to winxp and has yet to face this problem, the only way i can surf again is to restart pc
