i think is because vista create indexing file that will increase perfomance. so it will take some space to create the index file
*
The index files just use for searching only, rite? Anyway to disable it?

don't defrag. It defrags automatically when you're using it. Manual defrag is making it slower, and index file in my system is less than 100 MB for 600++gb of HDD space, so indexing is not an issue. more of TEMP files
*
I dun use the build in defrag function, i off it. I defrag it by using 3rd party sw...
btw, how to check the size for index files?

depends, for some of us, Vista is definately a better one. Heck, reverting to XP for me is like going back to the dark ages laugh.gif
*
agree.
since Vista require quite high system requirement, consider whether ur system can meet the requirement or not 1st. I think RAM and capacity are the main problems...
for me, Vista is better than XP. More smooth, more stronger security, look nicer, more easy to use. smile.gif

What do you mean neither OEM nor Retail? If you buy Vista, it has to be one of these editions (MSDN, Academic, Technical Previews, etc. have licences resembling OEM copies).
Anyway, to answer your query, you won't be ask to reactivate if the reinstallation is performed on the same motherboard and hard disk (even when reformatted). Vista ties your activation key to your motherboard's BIOS ID or something if I remember. I have tested this too and it is indeed true that a motherboard/BIOS switch will result in you having to reactivate your copy again.

Reactivation is easy. Just call up the 24 hour toll free number based in India and give them the activation ID. They will reissue you a new one. It is entirely confidential.

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Apr 14 2007, 01:00 AM)
well activation is manual or auto depending on when u reinstall when the asked u to insert the cd key.. there is a tick there saying auto activation upon connection right...
if u unclick that then u have to activate ureself.
*
coz recently my school jus had a Vista launched, i get my Vista with RM5 only, so i dun think it is either OEM or retail... tongue.gif

btw, thanks for both of ur answer, now no need to worry bout the activation on my next new computer... laugh.gif

When I ran disk cleanup for my C drive, i found out that "Per used queued Window Error Report" and "System queued Window Error Report" getting larger and larger. So, can I delete it actually? Seems like it is somethg related to the "Program error solution", worry that it may cause the system unstable if i delete it. wink.gif

Firewall I'm using PC Tools firewall, but seems like not so good to be used, still waiting for Zone Alarm. laugh.gif

Disk Defrag - I'm using Diskeeper 2007 professional. Easy to be used, more features than the build-in 1, at least it show us how many percentages is already defragment during the process. Included Automatic defragmentation and Boot-time Defragmentation.

Spyware Scanner - Using Spybot Search & Destroy, not bad. But I believe thr still got others good spyware scanner but just incompatible in Vista like AVG Anti-Spyware and Ad-Adware....

Mine is Ori Vista, but all the softwares are "ahem" 1, so far, doesn't encounter the problem u mentioned above. Don't worry la, I dun think M$ will able to detect whether the software u using in ur computer is original or not, unless is those M$ Office la..... laugh.gif

I was facing this problem when still using XP, i cant surf the net but the BT still donwloading, and the P2P download is not working as well. I need to restart my router then only able to surf the net.
For my case, i think it didn't related to the computer even the OS, it is the router problem.

So far, this problem nvr happen after switch to Vista. smile.gif

Why it crash using classic? is it due to driver problem? I encounter the same problem using classic and VLC media player.
*
For the previous version of MPC, if u open it, it will disable the window aero function, but the latest verion have already fixed this problem.
So, i also want to know how is there any problems will be encountered when using MPC.

Cheh again... aye~... nevermind la... Business is ok too LOL
As long as it is original and most important... FREE... well.. at least until the deadline...
======================
Can we buy OEM Vista?? I'm quite blur about this OEM thingy... so I figure if can... I might as well get an OEM Vista Ultimate rather than retail Home Premium.

Becoz I heard OEM is only supplied with a new computer like DELL, ASUS and so on... hmm.gif
*
For what I know, OEM will only can be activated in 1 computer, so in case u change to a new computer, the OS cant be activated in ur new computer. Meanwhile, retail version can still be activated in the new computer... Wish u get what i mean... tongue.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong. notworthy.gif
