Most modded PS2 only allows PS2 region bypass. In order to play PS1 games on PS2 you'll need a PS2 of specific region.

I'm not sure what range is acceptable for the HDBP settings as I haven't used mine for a while now. Nothing wrong with your PS2/HD Box Pro, the problem lies with compatibility between the HD Box Pro and monitor.

What resolution should i choose if i connect to a 16:9 LCD monitor?


Edited : I realize that PS2 have no REAL widescreen mode. Maybe i will try 4:3 resolution and stick on my 16:9 monitor. I think it has auto size image.

Earliest batch HDBP have 16:10 only, later batch have 16:9 but no 1920 x 1200, while latest batch have all the common resolutions. Not sure which batch is yours, but try to stick it to your monitor's native. Some PS2 games do have real WS mode, but my unit couldn't display them properly, part of the image couldn't be shown.

i can confirm to tell u tat good ps2 games wont be release anymore, unless u never try and wan play hardcore classic ps2 games such as FF series, DMC, and so on...

Current price i sees now range from 450-499.Well they din release much PS2 games nowadays..since so much more new console coming out such as PS3,Wii,Xbox360 and so on.But then there is also some good PS2 games such as Final Fantasy X.Not many ppl can afford PS3 and u hav to buy the original games.So u can play PS2 first while saving money and waiting for PS3 to be cracked lo

Think can invest in those VGA boxes. They aren't exactly expensive and would provide better picture. If you are considering going the TV-card route, make sure you don't get those that are too high-end(with onboard processing), coz that would introduce lag to your gameplay. Doesn't matter as much if RPG, but for action games...you press button, maybe two second later then the character move...Sadly that means it rules out most of the current market tv-cards.

My friend uses this VGA box to connect his PS2 to a Samsung 19" Widescreen LCD (forgot what model). It's called Multi VGA Box by Mayflash. The image is quite sharp, but more importantly, very cheap!

I got samsung 2494HS and HDBOXPRO
Graphic is fine but i got some distorted screen after playing too long. You need to shutdown (not standby) the HDBOXPRO after using it. Overall its good.

i have a ps2 slim modded and codebreaker 10.
I seen a lot of people talking about extra feature like fmcb, elf, hdloader, etc. After searching around, i still confuse with those feature.

Here is my question:
1) Since my ps2 slim doesn't have HDD, can i use remote HDD and load my game from there instead of disc?
2) Loading game from HDD only work with japanese game (or japanese console) ?
2) I heard that i can load cheat into codebreaker using usb. What kind of format / path / file type i should use in order to do that.
3) I also heard it possible to load codebreaker directly USB, no need to swap disc. How to do so?

Summary of elfs(think of it as .exe for windows)
FMCB(free mcboot)
-It allows you to boot to a modified screen with extra options, so instead of the usual browser and settings, have other "shortcuts" like HDL, ULE etc. Note it won't work on most SCPH-9000x models, as Sony had "repaired" the exploit.

ULE(ulaunchelf)
-Browser for PS2. Has useful functions like launch elfs, copy and paste files, backup memory card etc

OPL(Open PS2 Loader), USBA(USB Advance)
-Play games from USB HDD

HDL(HDLoader)
-Play games from internal IDE HDD(mainly the PS2 phats, requires PS2 Network Adapter)

1)Possible to play from USB HDD using OPL or USBA. though compatibility is not as great as HDL, and the FMVs are jerky as the USB ports are only 1.1. But coders are currently researching into streaming/playing games from LAN. It is still under development, so that's something to look forward to.

2)Playing from HDD bypasses regional restrictions, so it's a question of whether the game is compatible to play from HDD.

Not too sure about codebreaker, since I don't use it, but I suppose you need to have FMCB installed on your PS2 first. From there use ULE, launch the elf for codebreaker.

my cb9 is launched from the hdd directly, stored the elf there.

EDITED : Really regret getting a slim version. From the compatible list i see, many games cannot play thru hdd on slim.
