Bought computer parts online from US. Used FedEx to ship to Malaysia. Total cost of items is around RM2700+. Now its stuck at customs. Best part is every item is different and in that there is only 1 piece of fan. They end up taxing me for every single item as fan. Total tax need to pay is RM860+ which is crazy. Will have to go KLIA Cargo to appeal on Monday...

Update from a few pages ago: My DVDs arrived intact. Seems that customs just let it through. Everything was in okay condition, nothing got opened by customs.

Hi, i just bought 56 dvd from amazon.com via vshub.com. The items already arrived at Malaysia but it been held by the custom (according to xxx customer service). They ship those items consolidated with other parcel via DHL. So there is no tracking no provided. I don't know whether the items had been hold in KLIA or Johor Bahru (currently i live in Johor). Last wednesday, the customer service from xxx called and explain the situation. They give me the choices if i want the items back:
1. The Dvd's will go through KDN (Finas) and will charge RM100++ per dvd. Maybe takes 1-2 month. Maybe 1 year.
2. Just let go the RM3k worth of items.
So, basically they didn't give me any choices at all. For the info all the DVD is for personal use (no porn). I already buy the DVD from amazon 5-6 times and this is the first time it been hold by the customs.
Somebody please help me. Do i need to pay duty tax or what? Go to KLIA and beg the custom? What is the other option for my situation right now.

Bro, nak tanya sikit lah. Kalau beli 1 pcs of t-shirt masuk malaysia kena bayar tax ar ? hmm.gif
*
tak, kurang dari rm500(brg+pos) tak kene.
no, less than RM500(item+postage) will not be charged tax.

also
becareful of 3rd party buyer, they might charge you hidden charges and held your item hostage until you pay up.

I went to that Pejabat Pos Unit Tahanan Kastam at Bagan Dalam, Butterworth last friday. They tell me to fill the JK 69 Form which priced at RM5 and he tell me to go search for some1 that give typing service which located behind the Dato Abdullah Ahmad Badawi field at Bagan Luar and the fee is also RM5. Then at 2.45pm i went back to the post office to give the form, then he said that the form needed to be submitted to MITI which located in Bangunan Tuanku Syed Putra, Penang.
I want to ask you Eralus, after my JK69 form has been approved by the MITI, any other thing i need to do before i can get my helmet?

base on custom tariff website its 10%(sales tax) and non for import duty <----- 'non for for import duty' what this means btw?

thank you in advance smile.gif

means no import duty... only 10% sales tax

Hi sifus

Thinking of ordering a case for my shiny new BlackBerry Z10 online as the ones I want are not available in Malaysia yet! damn scared my phone will scratch man!

Any restriction on importing a couple of cases over from the States?

Thanks in advance bros and apologies if this has been discussed in the past!

casing should be fine, just not over RM500 (inclusive postage).. no sirim approval required.

Hi there,

My friend has sent back some of my purchases (mainly small leather goods) and had mistakenly declared it as USD500 instead of RM500 under gift. I am prepared to be taxed on this but just to know, how many % of taxes will be levied upon my purchases? Further, will I be able to clear the custom without invoice? Because all these items have been purchased for a long time and it is only until recently that I have decided to get my friend to send it back to me.

Thanks in advance for the replies.
*
depends on what leather goods.. tax (10% or 30%) + 10% sales tax

Thx bro

My order includes a leather case, a plastic case, charging dock and some spare batteries. Total comes up to over RM600
Its on the way here to Malaysia.  Any idea how much I may be charged for imports and duties.
*
this is tricky, you need to declare per item. cause its not just leather... same goes to you if you lucky. your item might get by customs without tax..

Hi there,

My friend got me 2 Playstation Vita as gift.. If he declare as gift, when arrive in Malaysia will I be taxed to receive the gift?

I think total is 40,000 yen which is around Rm1,300 as to current rate.

Using Yamato courier or Japan post.

Another case is,

If my friend sent me the 2 Vita without and packaging, just console and the charger.. will I still get taxed?
*
gift or not.. expensive items usually will get held and declared... aka taxed
