Flights are also subjected to delays but Japanese trains are 99.9% on time

Hi guys, I heard that upon arriving...we will be given a form known as tax declaration to be filled up?
*
Its just an immigration form. Why do you need to declare your tax when you arrive.

QUOTE(123qwe @ Dec 21 2017, 10:47 PM)
True that flight need to spend extra time to go airport and all, and I still need to travel to kyto from Osaka if I were taking flight. Maybe I should just pay extra for Shinkansen to buy more time?

Btw, Shinkansen ticket no way to purchase online right?
*
Yes you can. But its all in Japanese.

I see. I find flight troublesome hmm.gif you know, with boarding and all. Shinkansen is faster and hassle free. Given a choice with all conditions the same, I'd still choose shinkansen for the comfort (more spacious than planes!) if the train ride is 2-3 hours. But yes if train ride is 5-6 hours vs flight 1 hour, the latter is definitely better. Unless you wanna enjoy the scenery hahaha.

This site is selling: https://shinkansen-ticket.com/?gclid=CjwKCA...axoCdH0QAvD_BwE

Any idea whether they're an authorized agent or simply an independent agency?

Can still reserve though? Not sure how the payment goes as it's not elaborated.

Eh yeah, don't have to Osaka/ Kyoto on JR site. Previously mine was pre-purchased by the travel agency since it was a tour.
Kodama? Seems more like an agency with tours. Have not come across it.

Not easy to secure the Shinkansen tickets for Tokyo-Osaka beforehand. Guess it's either you purchase through agency (in which case they may hike up a little for their commission) or buy it when you're there hmm.gif

You're more accustomed to Hong Kong system now biggrin.gif

Then meaning now can purchase shinkansen ticket directly on JR's site for other routes. It's a good thing for overseas traveler.

With Japan rate going down... wonder where to get the best rate for JR Pass?

TR still selling RM1123
HIS selling RM1057
Klook selling RM1010

Where else can get cheaper deals?
*
i think it's really hard to get cheaper than that already lol
Klook has some year-end promo codes that you can use for additional discounts off your purchase though, can help you lower the price further.

Just one day in Osaka is a tadbit short. Travelling from Tokyo to Kyoto and back took up the time you have for sightseeing.

Yea i know, cause of the plane ticket... 😅 Have to waste a trip back to Tokyo...
But for osaka, i actually don't find much things to do... I am traveling with two kids, so that rule out night outings... I only plan to go osaka aquarium and Osaka castle and fit whatever else is possible...
Is there any must go in Osaka?

i recommend staying in osaka instead of kyoto as theres more to do n c at night in osaka. so mayb day 9~10 stay in kyoto, then starting from day 11 stay in osaka instead and do nara day trip from there.

Just a point to note, when you buy the Osaka Amazing pass, it has lots of free entrance and Umeda sky building is one of it (original price is quite exp). Since on the 6th day you've no planned itinerary, why not take a day trip to Nara (ps: deer park)?.

Are you a coffee addict? Recommend to go Owl cafe in Osaka.  thumbup.gif
*
Thanks for your recommendation! Thought of a day trip to Nara, but eventually we thought of sparing the whole day for shopping instead biggrin.gif
