Hmm i guess it depends on what kind of traveller you are. Tours are great since they come with guides that will share more about the culture & history of places. You also don't need to worry much about transportation and the itinerary since everything is planned out for you. Less effort required for planning, more convenience & 'educational' - so i guess the higher price is somewhat justifiable since you literally won't need to worry much about anything. They even pick you up & drop you back in Tokyo. Would be good for if you're not much of a 'planner' or if you're travelling with family/elderly etc.

But if you value flexibility and enjoy taking your time exploring places and things that interest you more, i would suggest you to plan your own trip. I purchased a Hakone Free Pass from Klook the last time i was there and it was pretty good value for money imo. It covers unlimited transport on the local buses & railway - you can also ride the cable car, ropeway & sightseeing cruise (which are also included in the tour package you shared). Hakone is a really beautiful place and i enjoyed exploring it at my own pace, which is a plus point when you plan your own itinerary smile.gif i bought a 3 day pass and just chilled there hahaha

https://www.klook.com/activity/821-hakone-t...day-pass-tokyo/ - i think there's a year-end promo code also but i don't really rmbr, you can check out their fb page/website

In a nutshell i guess it depends on what kind of experience you're looking for and the amount of time you're planning to spend there (day tour vs a 2day/3day pass). Pros & cons for both. Hope you have a good trip to Japan soon!

With Japan rate going down... wonder where to get the best rate for JR Pass?

TR still selling RM1123
HIS selling RM1057
Klook selling RM1010

Where else can get cheaper deals?

i think it's really hard to get cheaper than that already lol
Klook has some year-end promo codes that you can use for additional discounts off your purchase though, can help you lower the price further.
