Last month i bought a HP Pavilion dv6203tx Notebook. the notebook is awesome! and serve my purpose well.. no problem what-so-ever, and im happy towards my decision on HP.

then, last week, i notice one black dot (which is referred to a 'dots always off' whereby a dark dot appear on a bright screen) appears in my notebook's LCD. i was in shocked! cry.gif im afraid i might experience a dead pixel situation. i gone to HP support website a read information regarding LCD replacement issues. It clearly stated that only 5 dots will be replaced. im in shocked again! cry.gif coz i only have 1 dot. so i give a HP serivce centre a call. Then the nice guy explain to me that yes its true, under HP policy, only LCD with 5 dots will be replaced. Then i ask for recommendation, then he told me to bring the notebook to HP service centre (located at HP tower, Damansara) for checkup.

then i took my notebook to the HP service Centre. My first experience when i entered the service centre department was magnificent (there is an area specifically meant for servicing, warranty claims etc etc). the cool and corporate ambience in the service department tempts me. that was the 1st time being there, so i was look around like a lost person looking for a guide. Then a nice young man with a HP shirt on smiling at me and offer me assistance. He gave me the ticket number and i go along and sat on very nice, stuffy sofa smile.gif there was a free coffee for HP customers. then when just when my coffee finished, my numbers were up.

the lady (person who at the counter) entertain my situation. She was very nice and polite. I explain my problem and she asked me to 'on' the notebook so she can look at the screen. When the screen appears, she notice the dot. and she explain to me that the dot appear on my screen is not a dead pixel. She said dead pixels will always quite bright and clear. So, she said she gonna take my notebook to her technician to conform. then right after 2 mins, she came back. She said that its definately not a dead pixel. Its an abnormality of the pixel.

Im a simple guy, and straight foward, I dont care why its happen. so i asked how to fix it? is it cover under my 1yr limited warranty? than she offer me a solution. She advise me to lodge a report stating that there is abnormality on my LCD screen and i didnt please with it. with this report, HP will replace a new lcd screen for my notebook, with no cost (as under my warranty) Yeay! rclxm9.gif

it will be ready in 3 days. rclxms.gif

I dont know what cause the problem, maybe a knock or just a bad luck i guess. what ever it is, its gonna be good as new in 3 days.
So, im glad HP after sales service is excellent. for those u out there still doubt on HP, this is my story. i wish all corporate companies in malaysia provide after sales service like this. I dont mind paying extra for this. dont only cares about ppl's money, offer them a solution.

So, im a happy person with no worries. my experience there just makes me eager to purchase extended warranty from HP to cover my notebook for another 3 good years. I know Dell's onsite service is good, but its alright with HP thumbup.gif

I am happy to read ur experience as I owned a dv6000 too, dv6126tx to be exact. HP products come in good quality and excellent after sales service.

I did not notice any pixel error on my lappy but I am not happy with the DVD burner(Philips model). It takes more than 45 minutes to burn on a grade A media. Maybe I should pay a visit to HP tower some day.

Cheers.

Yep, same thing happened to my nx8420. 2 stuck pixels (white dots on black background) and HP offered to replace the screen with no further questions. When the replacement wasn't good enough (because there were some color banding problems), they took the effort to test several screens until they got one which is perfect.
Definitely great service.

HP parts aren't OEM from Acer. Both HP and Acer order their parts from the same ODMs. This is true for other major PC manufacturers too, but of course quality control, service and reliability can vary even if they're from the same ODM (because they are produced to different specifications and cost).

HP, like all major brand name OEMs, seldom manufacture their products. They design the specifications and submit ithem to their ODMs (mainly Taiwanese companies such as Compal, Quanta, Inventec, Wistron) who will manufacture them to the given specification. You can simply tell where yours come from by looking at the box.

haha, crack ur LCD so it able to lodge a claim smile.gif

from all your feedback here, i found that most people wants or i must say demand an excellent after sales service/support. for me, i treat my purchases (especially expensive ones) as a long term investments. i never gonna purchase something that im gonna dump soon or later. i purchase something coz i trust the brand and hope to serve me well as long as its possible.

the reason i share my experience here is that in a way i could inform or educate ppl to not only look into cheap or low price. always look for long term usage. And also, i hope all service providers or shop or resellers provide this kind of customer service support, or not on par with it (not applies only not notebook manufacturer, to all kind of businesses) then they gonna have ultimate loyalties from their customers.

thanks guys for your feedback, it comes handy to other ppl who gonna bought a notebook system soon.

for my case, my notebook is abt 1 month old. of course any dots less than 5 will not be replaced, but they offer me a solution for that, to lodge report abt abnormality regarding LCD performance and as a result i dissatisfied with it. so with this kind of report, HP will replace the LCD.

for example, if they wont allow my notebook to be repaired because my lcd has only one dots (contradict with warranty requirement, 5 dots), i'll be dissapointed. so, instead they try to avoid my dissapointment by offering another solution. smile.gif that is excellent

ya, repairing notebook is expensive. thats why all big manufacturer offering extended warranty scheme.

totally dude we have no idea..... probally if the center is big enough to handle and they have stock... why not.....

ask them....

yeah!...i think if there got enough stock for the parts/accessories...then they shouldn't have a problem to fixed everything there... nod.gif
unless...big and complicated problems occur, they would either send back to factory or HQ or get a better person to handle it and it may takes quite sometimes to fixed... cool2.gif

I wish HP offers the Accidental Damage Protection warranty like they do in the US, which would make it equivalent to Dell's CompleteCover. At this point, Dell's warranty support US and beyond is still more comprehensive than any other manufacturers.
