i think if u put mac OSX in the position of windows it will get more vulnerabities than windows..
so many people trying to break windows because windows has to most users.. and more people is more familiar to it..

i wouldnt say windows is the most secure OS and OSX do not win the title either.. all OSes has its own flaws just waiting for people to exploit..

p/s.. i own macbook.. i use windoze.. and i love fedora core... all has their pro n cons.. not siding any OSes

I think Mac is more secure compare to Windows...I've never kena virus and never being hacked before while using Mac but in PC, I'm always worry of being hacked or being attacked by millions of virus, trojan & spyware...

Come on lah, don't judge secure or not like that one.

The fact is most of the hackers/virus creator out there targeted Windows platform because it is the most famous platform on earth, seem more than %94 of desktop market in the world used Windows. Only less than %5 used mac os. Let say mac os in future will gain %30 and above of desktop market, then by that time u will know whether this os secure or not.

So if u a hacker or virus creator which os do u interested the most?, if u create virus on mac platform, the impact is almost nothing because only %3 or less, so no one will know u as a virus creator. So r u still interested to attack Mac os?

p/s : I feel safe too while using Mac. Im not pro to windows more than Mac, but i used both most of the time.

Actually, last two or three years,
I remember there's community that test which OS is more secure.
They install Mac OS, Fedora Core and Windows SP1.
All from the original CD without any updates and guess what?
Windows is the most secure OS without updates, Mac is first runner up and
FC is second runner up. And after they install updates,
Mac is at the first place of most secure, FC is still at second place and
Windows fall to third place.
Please remember that that test does not mean which OS is easier
to be affected by viruses or malware or adware, or which OS restart frequently,
they test in the aspect of security flaws, based on how many 'flags'
they manage to put in each OS.
Well at that time it was Windows SP1, Mac OS Panther and FC 3 or 4 I think.
Don't know what is the situation now. But I believe their test because they're all
from Open-source community - which of course won't support Windows.
But yes, they still tell the truth.
Sorry I could not remember what is the community name.

wah , really ? 98%  of the world's computer are Windows based ? Then where to put UNIX-based ? Linux-based? BSD-based? Mac ? huhu

thats not included yet OS in mainframe ? SuperComputer ? workstation ? desktop ?

confused with that figure ,dude

for your information , ppl whom created OS other than Windows is not only for money, money and money ,dude

they do it for mankind and it have continuous on-going research and development , they want something more kick than windows .

People have choice to switch to Mac, Linux, UnIX or or any closed-source OS (i think the only closed-source OS in this world = Windows)  whistling.gif

Security are already embedded in all OS , but user/sysadmin should play their role to secure it ...

regarding what u said as "marketing gimmick" , IMHO , Apple already have their own strategic plan to make their product as casual ...not being nerdie or daddy-o ...

I respect what MS do with their own market advertisement , and so do Apple .

But what to do..i'm already switched  tongue.gif

The 98% is really true. I probably used the wrong word by saying Windows based. But certainly is not that far off the mark when users with Windows as their other OS is included in the score.
