"According to a Symantec study reported by Information Week, Microsoft has the most secure operating system amongst its commercial competitors. The report only covered the last 6 months of vulnerabilities and patch releases, but the results place Microsoft operating systems above Mac OS X and Red Hat. According to the article, 'The report found that Microsoft Windows had the fewest number of patches and the shortest average patch development time of the five operating systems it monitored in the last six months of 2006.' The article continues to mention the metrics used in the study (quantity and severity of vulnerabilities as well as the amount of time one must wait for the patch to be released)."

Then there's Mac OS X. Despite the latest TV ads ridiculing the security in Vista with a Matrix-like Agent playing the UAC in Vista, Apple (Quote) has nothing to brag about. Symantec found 43 vulnerabilities in Mac OS X and a 66 day turnaround on fixes. Fortunately, only one was high priority.

Like the others, this is also an increase over the first half of the year. For the first half of 2006, 21 vulnerabilities were found in Mac OS X and Apple took on average 37 days to fix them.
What do u think about this?

I think Mac is more secure compare to Windows...I've never kena virus and never being hacked before while using Mac but in PC, I'm always worry of being hacked or being attacked by millions of virus, trojan & spyware...

Come on lah, don't judge secure or not like that one.

The fact is most of the hackers/virus creator out there targeted Windows platform because it is the most famous platform on earth, seem more than %94 of desktop market in the world used Windows. Only less than %5 used mac os. Let say mac os in future will gain %30 and above of desktop market, then by that time u will know whether this os secure or not.

So if u a hacker or virus creator which os do u interested the most?, if u create virus on mac platform, the impact is almost nothing because only %3 or less, so no one will know u as a virus creator. So r u still interested to attack Mac os?

p/s : I feel safe too while using Mac. Im not pro to windows more than Mac, but i used both most of the time.
