Hi guys!

I've been using Maybank trade since 2017 but now I wanted to switch to a different brokerage account with lower fee. I've shortlisted both Rakuten and M+. Rakuten minimum fee is RM9 and M+ is RM8.

Can you guys suggest which platform is good? With good customer support and good mobile apps (interactive charts and news)?

Currently Rakuten got promo with HelloGold, makes me want to open the account there. But with RM1 higher fee.

I thought Maybank also now offer lower brokerage for online cash upfront trades? Maybe u check with them n change your account?

Between Rakuten and M+. For cash upfront: Go M+ for lower brokerage and direct CDS. Rakuten the only advantage are online KYC and pretty fast FPX payment. The rewards are just fluff to me.

Well Rakuten also does not charge fees on corporate actions, I suppose that is a plus?

If u use direct CDS also no fees. Rakuten is nominee structure but they waive the normal fees. So it's not a plus, just less negative.

Hmmm but as I understand if there is corporate actions, Rakuten will handle rather than you having to handle the work (i.e. dividend reinvestment)? Or maybe Im missing something...

Best buy is the highest price level that someone puts in to buy the stock, that hasn't been matched.

Best sell is the lowest price someone puts in to sell the stock, that hasn't been matched.

So, if you want buy the stock, you can put the order at the best sell and it will get matched. Trade done.

Or, you can put buy order at lower price. Here, no trade is done yet, you wait for someone to hit you/sell to you. N If your buy order is the highest price, then it will become the best buy price. N you wait.

No stamp and clearing fee for the IPO. Only applicable when you sell. Platform fee should be, minimal. I think Maybank charges RM1.
