Will the trade war between china and US benefit malaysia export industry?  Such as furniture ?

Been looking at local furniture industry, and some are quite attractive in valuation.. such as Jaycorp, FIHB
*
The one may benefit the most from the trade war would be like E&E sector.

Furniture industry has its own domestic challenge, especially on cost side, on both raw materials and labour cost.

Anyway, a full blown trade war has no winner.

true but semicon and E&E cycles have peaked last year. so, perhaps now is not a good time to be vested in them.

But now Malaysia still not much green action. Probably retailer are still stunned n freeze.. very scared to move

Chances of a US-China trade deal are not good hmm.gif

When the bad news come out on Thurs or Fri .....Sell? Hold? Buy?

Actually I have no worries about China/Asia economies or the companies I invest in, deal or no deal. What worries me is that ppl will panic-sell.

‘No more concessions’. Why is China playing hardball in trade war talks with the United States?
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/diplomacy/a...ton-trade-talks

The president’s threat to raise tariffs on Chinese goods would hit American consumers, not China
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-lies-c...4b0e4d757347bda

If the worst comes, I'll probably trim my portfolio by 10-20% especially companies that are directly affected ...... then wait and see.

hold because still paper loss.
trade war is still not the trigger point for recession or market collapse IMO. they still need to live by those products just change to other countries.
i.e. Vietname becoming main hub, tech and production wise, if possible buy in Viet index may be have good return, but depend on their policy and future prospect etc. <<---i no do homework just news

If major scandal/blackhole/serious consumer index drop or trump success re-elect then .... ohmy.gif

Electric car vs fossil fuel car in term of price, still has a big gap.

It won't be main stream unless we see big deduction in cost in fuel cell car.

Not to mention lacking of charging station and troublesome in charging (compared just pump up fuel in seconds vs hours of charging), that may result problem in long distance travel.

I have a thought that in 20 more years, probably shell / bhp / petronas are start to setting up electric charge station ?

Only if cost of electric car going down dramatically because affordable for most.

$/cost rules the market.

If mobile phone is still selling at Rm10K like in the early 90's, handphone won't be mainstream gadget as today.

I'm also long term bullish on Vietnam... consider it the most promising country in Southeast Asia. There's VanEck Vectors Vietnam ETF (VNM) listed in the US, but I haven't bought yet. Several of the Malaysian stocks that I own (YSPSAH, etc) have exposure to Vietnam.

Hope a moderate Democrat like Biden or Beto will beat Trump in 2020.

Your question is ambiguous...Do you mean potential to go up? Or potential to go down?

You should at least have an exit strategy, no?

Exit strategies are different for different companies. If you are planning to trade low priced stocks, set a price, hit it sell it run....

It is natural human tendency to see a stock price going up, to wait for it to go up further and not sell...only for the price to drop and still not sell it hoping that it will recover...??

I don't know why this thread is called Investor...Perhaps Trader thread would be more suitable. I could never bring myself invest in company with the below type of stock price graph.... mega_shok.gif

With respect, if the point of the "trade" was to get some quick bucks, then you'll have to wait a while longer again....
