Ok noted. Will leave IPV6 disable. Enjoying the router speed and stability.  Also I noticed that some of the router features such as MU MIMO, airtime fairness and packet distribution is not enabled by default. Should I enable them? Other functions that I really like from this router is the ability to use apps to control some of the router basic settings and can also be monitored outside my house including real-time bandwidth usage. Other settings maybe I don't explore yet. Probably a bit overkill for casual users as myself.
*
I suggest update it to the latest firmware and you may have more features.

MU-MIMO is not useful as it requires MU-MIMO devices. Maybe you can enable Airtime Fairness as it may help a little.

It blocks the adware and virus that comes through the network so, for example, if one device on the network is trying to access a website, and there is adware on the website, it will block the adware before delivering the website to the device. It also acts as an IPS, or Intrusion Prevention System, so it will block any outside access to your router, and lastly, if your device is infected with a virus, it will stop that device from transmitting anything outside your network.

The bottom line is that it is a very good router and I highly recommend it  thumbup.gif

This is what will happen when I try to open some prohibited websites with TP-Link Homecare enabled.

It is pretty handy especially if you have users that are not really good with computer and it works on the entire network.

My solution to the heat generated. Simple laptop cooler below the router with two fan blasting from the bottom of the router. Steel surface below the router able to disperse heat quite well. Result is significant decrease of temperature of the router. I'm happy. biggrin.gif

The antennas on the C3150 are designed to be upright for the best performance.

Those are PCB antennas and not really the same design as conventional antennas. biggrin.gif

Awesome. After more than a month, i installed tplink tether app in my iphone 7 plus, it seems, my current c1200 (stock by tm) cannot be detected. However, before i sell my c7 to my friend, the apps can detect the c7 router. I guess the firmware for c1200 quite worse and got some bugs.
*
Not every router / firmware version is supported.

Check that from here.

Can the coverage go up to 2.5 storey terrace house without repeater? currently doing some self research and was first interested to go mesh, but the price is too expensive, currently looking at either 2 mikrotiks or tplink with extender, but if C3150 can cover whole house, then why not?  biggrin.gif
Is it very hot? Because i'll definitely place it in the living room due to hypptv sweat.gif
*
I have the C3150 and I guess it has one of the best coverage among consumer routers currently.

I prefer a router and powerline extender configuration over mesh for our Malaysia concrete houses. Mesh networking rely on wireless for backhaul and concrete isn't really helpful.

As for the heat, nothing much to worry. It is warm to the touch but the router is designed to run at much higher temperature.

Not ideal.

I am hoping for hostname list blocking style since later version of TP-Link archers are based on open-wrt

If TPLink can add this package https://github.com/openwrt/packages/tree/ma...t/adblock/files  , it would be great

But TP-Link can't even fix C1200 V1 random reboot issue.  doh.gif
*
It is an anti malware system not an ad blocking system. Imagine the number of hosts they need to maintain. Advertisement hosts are typically fixed so naturally hostname blocking is the better choice.

The system TP-Link implement is actually more advanced as it uses packet inspection to match virus definitions, I could've host the malware somewhere and it still can be effective. smile.gif

may i know tplink planning to support VLAN tag or not for deco m5?
if no plan then i'm planning to sell my deco m5 but only 2 routers, another one i installed in my rented apartment which is using time broadband so it can connect directly.

currently at home i have to use deco as access point only and use my old asus router which keeps rebooting on it's own once a day.

i plan to buy orbi as replacement which supports all fibre broadband in malaysia.

in terms of wifi coverage i'm satisfied, 2 deco are more than enough for double storey house. 3 are overkill.
*
I wonder if the Orbi actually support VLAN tagging?

Anyway, from what I know, they are working on VLAN compatibility on the Deco. A workaround would be to use a VLAN switch and trunk VLAN 500 to Deco but you will lose HyppTV. Not ideal but that's the best solution right now.

yes, i copied the same setting from before.

also web interface are in orange shade instead the usual green? is that new one or old?

Do manage to get at least the ADSL signal?

Try post the ADSL stat here.

If you don't, select auto mode for ADSL.

any comparable tp-link router got good coverage like WR941HP. this 941HP is good with 1000mw amplifier with 9 dBi antenna. the drawback of this unit no wireless AC and gigabit ethernet
*
The coverage of TP-Link Archer C3150 is even better than that unit but the price is much more expensive as well.

Strange, by right lan connection is very straight forward right? not much to set with compared to wifi.  Since all my lan connections has buffering problem, can i assume that my unit cud be defective? I m really at a lost on what to do now
*
Streaming rely on Multicast and the multicast traffic seems to be prioritised for HyppTV to ensure the HyppTV stream would stream smoothly on TP-Link firmware but it causes other source to buffer.

Maybe try enabling IGMP Proxy and try IGMP V2.

Yea that’s what worry me too since first floor and ground floor is separated by concrete. And I don’t want invest in mesh WiFi only to find out its same or worse than current speed.  cry.gif
*
I think your best option is powerline

I have suggested a lot of my friends to try the powerline wireless extender and it's all been good. smile.gif

I use the AV1200 variant personally. Prior to this, I use the AV500 model and the performance is better than mesh to be honest.

802.11Ah have longer range singal compare other standard because it use 0.9Ghz,
IEEE say 802.11AH have range about 1KM,so you can say bye bye to wifi deadspot,
But right now 802.11AH is just newly release on dec 2016
*
802.11ah is mainly for IoT devices communication, the performance is really slow unfortunately.

I am looking at http://www.netgear.com/home/products/netwo...x#tab-techspecs , the user manual states that it has a pick-a-plug LED which indicates the link rate where GREEN indicating the speed at > 80Mbps. How can I know actual link speed between 2 Powerline is at least 100Mbps cause my Unifi download speed is 100Mbps.
*
I have the TP-Link AV1200 powerline and they have an app to determine the connection speed.

The performance of the link is determined by power cable quality. I use Time Fibre so I consistently exceed 100Mbps over Powerline.

However, certain noisy power equipment will cause a degradation to the link speed but so far I only face this issue once with a faulty hair dryer.

QUOTE(eddyann @ Dec 20 2017, 12:08 PM)
Sir, can you advise what is the problem?

My DiGi internet has a stable high speed 4G+ most of the time (150-180 Mbps). by using WR941HP on Wireless N at full bar, it is acceptable the real world speed is around 50-70 Mbps as tested.

However by using the Powerline AV500 Nano, the maxed speed I get is around 30++ Mbps only. Both of the powerline are plug directly to the wall socket and not from the power extension. Both of them also got gigabit port (from the modem and to the PC)
*
500Mbps is the theoretical rate and that is not really achievable in real world.

Realistically I can reach around 60Mbps on the AV500 series powerline.

wanna ask one thing I'm uncertain

on a powerline, is the wifi network repeated or is it network going through powerline THEN broadcasted? if its the usual rebroadcast like a wifi repeater then i think wifi speed will be significantly affected
*
The wireless powerline is basically a wireless access point relying on the powerline connection for backhaul.

So the link speed actually depends on the powerline connection.

Powerline link speed is affected by various factors. (3 phase, distance between powerline adapters and power equipment)

yeah it mainly design for IOT like smart house,IPCCTV,
But i think 367Mbps max speed quite good for normal use unless hou have TIME 500Mbps,
Well then lets for 802.11AX 2.5/5Ghz max speed up to 10Gbps IEEE says.
*
367Mbps is in the best case with 16Mhz of bandwidth which will not be widely implemented. So don't put too much hope on it. It is mainly for sensors communication anyway.

2.4Ghz is still the to go mode of wireless if you need range.

Hello,

May I know whether TPLink Model: Archer MR200 support unifi or not.

I would like to use this as the main router of my unifi connection.
*
It doesn't support VLAN tagging so you can't replace the stock router but it can act as an additional router.

Weird

Enable IPTV have to be checked with the Maxis profile selected irregardless whether you use them or not.

Check your PPPOE username and password again.

My unifi router has inconsistent wifi connection, log shows STA expired. If I turn off the wifi, and use AP device to connect the router, does it fix the issue ?

can i use the 3 port of this kit to connect to the router and the single port to my pc? the shop told me cannot

http://www.tp-link.com.my/products/details...A8630P-KIT.html

Yes, you can but why would you want to do that? Powerline adapters are reversible.

If you want to add ports to your router, get a switch. The wireless powerline should be used at the place where you want to boost the signal.
