Hi Blacktubi

Third party firmware as in DD-WRT?
Also, what would trigger the performance degradation? The third party firmware or the VPN service?
*
Modern VPN protocols are encrypted and require a lot of resources to run. It may crash the router and affects the performance.

Yes, DD-WRT or OpenWRT/LEDE shall work. You will have to find the correct package and correctly configure it.

And I noticed 2.4Ghz beamforming capable router tends to cost arms and legs.  shocking.gif
*
If you mean the 2.4Ghz beamforming on Asus routers, it is non-standard so it wouldn't work with all clients and it even causes issue sometimes.

The only working 2.4Ghz beamforming I have experienced is on Ruckus APs but that's enterprise level in a totally different league. Consumer gears are not even close to the level of performance by enterprise AP. flex.gif

Dear Sifus here, a friend of mine mentioned that he is using TP Link's powerline for his home which has 3-phase wiring. Can I ask which models support powerline ethernet through the different phases?
*
It depends on how 3 phase is configured on your home. Should be able to work if they share the grounding.

I am using the AV1200 model, had the AV500 model previously and it works quite well too.

I do. The iptv is not stable. Only first 5 minute is okay. after that, it is showing the ethernet cable unplugged while the cable has been tightened. I feel like it is time to send the router to paper lama and currently using my asus ac58u.

Change IGMP to V3 And make sure multicast is enabled

Hey bros, any recommended router that i can buy for my unifi, am currently using Tplink C5 by TM. Been quite stable but sometimes it just turned up to be chaos (only WIfi, Lan is fine, can I concluded that it doesn't related to the incoming source?/),checked but don't think is the wifi channel issue, my budget would be less than 600. I have seen the Huawei WS880 for the price of 499 I am not mistaken. Any suggestions or recommendations is highly appreciated. Thankss!!!
*
Top up a bit and get the C3150 else C7 is already a pretty good upgrade.

Thanks bro, will consider, one more question on the wifi issue that I have asked, if the lan doesn't have any issue, what i meant is getting high ping when using wifi to download, can be 4 digits (just sometimes, if its fine it can stay at 2 digits), while lan can remain at 2 digits all the while, can i concluded that the incoming source is fine, may be the issue is from the router itself?
*
An unstable wireless network is typically due to the router unable to cope with the wireless interference at your location.

It happens if you stay at high rise where there is a lot of wireless routers around you.

My Archer C5 can't function properly after thunderstorm last weekend. The router is plugged into surge protector and is power off while others socket is in use. Astro KO.

Confirmed C5 adapter kong after I try using C1200 (by TM) power adapter to power up my C5. The router disconnected after few min usage and red light appeared.

Called tplink support about my situation but I didn't mention is due to thunderstorm, Their support just ask me to bring all the whole set for them to check and he did mention that unsuitable power adapter will affect the functionality of the router due to the power output or something (im not pro at this power thingy).

Can only visit them next week and I would like to know what's the support guy say is true?

Anyhow I still need to get a new adapter because it's not cover by warranty, can I just get the 3rd party adapter with same power output instead buying from tplink if tplink adapter is overpriced?

Thanks notworthy.gif

TP-Link is selling it for RM15.

Just bring to their Lowyat service center.

Hi TP-Link Malaysia,

There is a semi-faulty problem for the TL-MR6400 wireless 4G Router. It automatic disconnect internet connection after 1 or 2 hours.
At first, I though it is the network issued based on the telco service provider. But when I swap the simcard to another router, no issued at all and continue streaming the video and browsing the website more than 3 hours..

Got call to TP-Link Malaysia call center, request to me arrange postage direct to Plaza Lowyat there.
But TP-Link Malaysia can request pickup service from my doorstep here? (Just like asus have provide pickup service from customers)

By the way, I purchase from Lazada. But seems like don't want to take responsible for it and request me direct send to TP-Link service center.
How should I do? The packaging box is quite big one.
*
TP-Link only cover the return shipping unfortunately.

My router occasionally reset to factory settings by itself. What could be the problem?

Symptoms :
1. All devices disconnected from wifi
2. Wifi ID you set previously no longer available but become TPlink-1111, TP-link-1112 etc
3. Need to login to tplinkwifi.net and set the whole thing again

Why?
*
Which model is this?

Certain model have a known issue to cause auto reset, send it to RMA.

Hi, wanna know C7 and C9, which one better in terms of range.
For 2 storey house for BT, CCTV and phones usage. (unifi turbo 300mbps)

If C7/C9 is not enough then only consider top up to C3150. Any recommends?
*
All 3 are really good routers and definitely able to perform up to 300Mbps at close distance.

However, if you want good performance when you are further from the router, the C3150 will beat the C7/C9 due to the much better signal penetration.

Thanks.
How about C7 or C9? Which 1 is better? I read through posts mostly recommend C7 V4 and C9 hardware is old.
But if i read review, seem like C9 have better hardware and signal confused.gif
*
The Archer C9 performs significantly better than C7 in testing and real world performance. wink.gif

Of course, I am a huge fan of the C3150 due to the superb performance.

HI Guys,

I want to Buy TP Link Archer C3150 as below.

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/tp-link-...49fbfA3wqY&mp=3

Does this one Version 2?

Already try ask the seller but no reply.

Only V2 is available in the market now. The easy way to distinguish between 2 is the logo. V2 come with the new TP-Link logo.

I recently reviewed the TP-Link Deco M9 Plus mesh wifi system.

I think it is the best mesh wifi system in Malaysia market right now.

I never thought I will say this but the firmware of the Deco is so good and it seems like they have a different team working on the Deco. Everything is super polished and the app works really well that I don't think it needs a web interface. It even have support for 802.11r fast roaming.

Unifi compatibility is there and it is configurable right on the app itself. biggrin.gif

But, there's a catch as it doesn't support HyppTV for now and TP-Link says they are working on a firmware update. Unifi Internet do work.

You can read more at my blog here.

Dear sifus, I just bought a new C3150 from Lazada. After setting PPPoe with the correct Username & Password still it doesn’t connect to the internet.

Do I need special firmware to get it working ?
*
Have you enabled the Unifi VLAN settings and make sure your router is connect to LAN1 of the BTU for Unifi.

Refer to Step 10 on my blog.

im using archer c7 v2...bought January of 2016...is it still under warranty?

here's the problem...

1. during heavy dload and upload (torrent/speedtest) the wifi connection seems like no internet connection for 30-60sec and keep doing that until heavy load are off....the wifi connection are still there but there's no internet..what seems to be the problem?

2. wifi speed only 200-250mbps on 5ghz(stand next to the router) while it suppose to be 300-500mbps

if under warranty i want to send in for checking...if not...can i send it for repair?
*
TP-Link routers come with 3 years warranty. I suggest you to drop it at their Lowyat service center. The service is the best there.

Hi All,

Would like to ask. I have a TIME - TPLINK c1200 and I tried to flash it with EU room however, Under System Tools , there is no "FIRMWARE UPGRADE" option at all.
Is is possible that TIME disabled it? How to re enable ?

Thanks
*
Not possible to enable it. ISP routers are fully managed by the ISP.

Seems like a weird issue with the hardware.

Try a different LAN cable.

Hi tp-link,
Appreciate your reply

Powerline is subjected to power interference and we Malaysia do not have the best wiring. If your house it 3 phase it will be worst. sad.gif

Realistically an AV500 powerline can never reach 100Mbps, that may be why it only comes with a 10/100 port.
