not cluster semi D

anyway, i saw the picture of the DP and i saw it nearby my house
it is underground however it is far away from my house like be layout

+ DP point
[] house
[x] my house

the DP is located in another lane and few houses away
so if they laydown the fiber to my area, will it charge me the fees or this is bear by TM themselves?
as for in house, i believe will need contractor to personally come to my house for the planning else is hard to explain in detail

if need major drilling in my premises then my dad will not want it
*
from your diagram, DP is quite a distance from your house. TM can pull the cable from DP and stop near to your house if there is manhole available.
However, fiber cable will be charge in your premise include drilling provided you have existing trunking

u need to find out or decide where are you going to final stop (fiber) whether at ground floor or first floor, also where is your TV location
TM will charge based on meter distance

Singapore already offering 10Gbps to home users for a year now

http://www.straitstimes.com/tech/still-ear...or-10gbps-fibre

Meanwhile in Malaysia...
*
you cannot compare Mal with Singapore.
Singapore island itself already equipped with internet Infrastructure with all fiber in place, No copper wire at all, therefore they can go unlimited not like in Malaysia
They call it Spore one.
Whereas in Malaysia is mixed, fiber and old infra. Copper wire still available

Its true that singapore's small geographical size has advantage for deployment over malaysia.

But its not true that they dont have mixed infrastructure. There's still old houses that has all copper, coaxial and fiber infra in place. The big 3 telco does still offers cable internet.
In fact our HSBB initiative rolled out earlier than Singapore's NGBN that only kicked off in 2010 but they were properly managed and competition keeps everything healthy.

Our ISP is in fact crippled by TM monopoly.
Take wireless telco for example, Malaysia offers one of the cheapest if not the cheapest 3G/4G data in the whole wide world because of intense competition. And take into consideration again our geographical disadvantages, you'll see that our overpriced internet and lousy service is simply due to monopoly.
*
my mixed old infra means those old house still with old technology and those new house with latest infra - fiber which you have mentioned above. biggrin.gif
Again, old infra for those old houses conversion to fiber connection, usually have problems or unstable if compare with pure infra like those new township.
Therefore, Spore is pure fiber, in term of high speed expansion not a problems at all. But in Malaysia really need time to catch up. I think that will take long long time.
if they have project schedule in place with target, I think the project will delay and delay till right time biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I need some advice from some of the experts here about Unifi installation.

Yesterday installer came to my house to install unifi lite but he wanted to charge me RM200 for overhead ceiling wiring. He said if you don't want to pay I have to drill holes in your wall but if you pay me, I won't drill holes in your wall & install the wiring nicely for you.

Is that guy bullshitting me or what? If he drill holes I don't have to pay but if he does the easier work that doesn't involve any drilling I have to pay him. Is the guy trying to cheat me or what?

Fortunately for me, before he could do anything he found that the ports were full in my area. So he couldn't do anything & I didn't have to pay him a cent.

So is the installer trying to cheat me? Please advise me before I lodge a complaint with TM about this installer.

Thank you in advance.  notworthy.gif

the point here is "if you don't want to pay I have to drill holes in your wall but
if you pay me, I won't drill holes in your wall & install the wiring nicely for you."
thought is you pay me then i will drill a small holes nicely pull up cable else will pull the cable via the wall (cabling expose)

shouldn't be this way?

Recommended to renew the contract, then replace it for free.
Else you may ended up like my bad experience in last year - RM300 for STB:

** I managed to get TM to cancel this charges via complaint as TM Technician told me it is FREE and no charges.
*
how much the renew the contract?
I think RM300 STB include the configuration

Guys, just to share. I just got by UNIFI bill this morning and was surprised there was a jump of Rm75 after my "Free Upgrade" I called them and they said they are facing some billing issue. So guys that got the free upgrade please look into your billing. If your affected please call 100 and inform them and make a fault report so that they will rectify the bill for current and future payments.

Usually Unifi give some provision speed, which you can reach 50mbps and above if you are only use it.
However, if you have 50mbps unifi, doesn't means that you will get full download 50mbps as your speed download will shared by 7 nodes at least.
it means your 50mbps will shared by 7 (concurrently full), you will get 7mbps download

Thats no yet count in attenuation

based on my experience, I only get max 5mb on LAN connection for the d/l. means I shared with 10 nodes.

Depends on your area, my area is 7 nodes shared

Upgraded from 20mbps to 50mbps Kepong area last week. However, my TM router is not capable of handling 50mbps for wifi, only 20mbps max. Will TM change the router for free if I call them or I have to buy it?
*
bro
the best is use lan cable direct connect to router from your notebook, then you can see the throughput.

Fruitie, want to find out about the phone number in your Unifi.
Since you relocate your Unifi from PJ to your sister's house, can you use back the same number there?
*
if same telephone exchange, you can maintain the same number even you have different location

Anyone knows what is the process to have tmnet bring their service to new housing project?

Is it the developer have to get tmnet to do it, or just wait until tmnet decide ?
*
usually developer have applied application to TM on development infrastructure with in new site.
TM will get their people to lay the infra before project completion or handover
