if my credit card billig date is on 8th, does it include expenses charged on 8th as well? or it will depend on when the merchant post it, i.e. posting date?

yes, definitely based on the posting date (final). if unposted, transaction is still floating/non-final.

for cashback calculation, it may differsn from banks to banks.

thanks! so chances are i could be charging the card earlier, like on 7th, 6th, or even 5th but if dont matter until after the merchant posts it.

Speaking of posting, it means 'settlement' right? the procedures you do on the terminal

yes, if you want the transaction to be posted for the coming 8th statement.

sometimes, you purposely want it to be posted after statement date (8th) in order to prolong the repayment. in general, can be up to about 50 days.

fyi...when a cc transaction gets charged and AUTHORIZED, it will flow to CAPTURE status (floating, pending for merchant to settle).

once merchant perform settlement, the status changed to SETTLED which means it gets posted as final into your cc account. this is what is billed/statement-ed.

thanks, well umderstood!

Finance charge = charge on the outstanding amount from previous CC statement carried into this month statement.

Late charges = charges incurred for failing to pay minimum amount.

this correct?

I cancelled my HSBC card 2 months ago and trying to apply for new one from CITI and Standard Chartered since 1 month ago. However both bank rejected my application. My CCRIS is clean and I am above the min salary requirement for both cards. Does anyone face the same issue? Is it because I recently cancelled my card and now i am in the black list?

Maybe because you apply for too many cards at the same time? bank maybe think you despo for credit lines.. just my thinking

For refunds, right... does it go to paying the statement balance? like CC statement date is 18/6, amount 1k. got refund on 20/6, amount 600. so balance to pay is 400 or still 1k?

Help me understand this pls..

Current outstanding: 6k
Minimum amount to pay: 1k
Statement date: 18th

So when the statement comes out in 18/8, & i pay only the minimum, so by 18/9 still outstanding 5k. what happens to the new transactions made on 19/ to the card? straight kena interest?

Maybe debit cards suit you better, no interest. Spend only within your balance.

I have a card that is expiring soon. On the account balance and the IPP I made, will I have to pay it lump sum? Or it will be transferred to the new card?

Can I apply for another card from the same bank, or is it capped at 1 card per bank?
