Okay...here's the lowdown....
1. Upscaling can only be done using HDMI...Tried with Component...and it came out progressive only...It can upscale to your PS3 video output resolution. PQ wise I can't say anything as my TV don't have HDMI....still saving up enough for a LCD with HDMI
2. PS2 game will be upscaled to your PS3 video output reso also. The PQ ain't all that different...but LCD TV user will benefit the most. Colour is a bit more pronounce but that is it. I tried with my copy of FFX International. You also have the option to set whether you want the upscaled output to be 4:3 (Normal) or Fullscreen (16:9)
3. PS2 and PS1 game will benefit also as there's a Smoothing option apart from upscaling. Jaggies are somehow lessen or less apparent when you chose the smoothing options...
4. Music CD also benefits from the latest update as we now have an option for SACD and also a crossfade option for the playlist.
5. Photo viewer also benefit with this update with an option to zoom in the photo...that and also an option to print out the photo you are viewing.
6. Setting time and date are updated also. Now you can update the time and date via the internet just like your PSP.
7. Display setting also updated with Super-White options for LCD which support Super-White Technology.
8. There might be other changes that I'm not aware yet.
I'd like to post pic but I'm running out of time here...need to go to the bank to top up my CC to buy the Pirates Blu-ray....
