Dear Valued Customers,

We continue to serve our valued customers during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period.

However, in line with the change of dealing cut-off time by our business partners, throughout the CMCO period, our dealing cut-off time has been rescheduled as follows (Effective from 19/10/2020 – 27/10/2020** ):

**The CMCO period cut-off time shall be continued if the period is further extended by the Government.

Unit Trust Management Companies (UTMCs) Online EPF i-Invest
AmFunds Management Berhad 12:00 PM 2:30 PM
PMB Investment Berhad 12:00 PM 2:00 PM

With the exception of the unit trust management companies listed above, the remaining fund houses on our platform would operate on “Business As Usual” schedule, where the cut off time for online cash investments would be 3:00PM and for EPF’s i-Invest transactions at 4:00PM.

We appreciate your continuous support and understanding during this CMCO period.

Stay Safe and Happy Investing!

Best Regards,

Actually I am wondering, what they (Phillips Mutual) earn from this platform when people transact 0% sales charge funds? Or am I not seeing the bigger picture here lol
*
Trailer fee.

Let us assume Phillips has RM 1Billion of asset park under their account. The trailer fee is around 0.25% p.a, that will give Phillip RM 1,000,000,000 x 2.5/100 = RM 25M income per annum.

It is a volume game. Hence they don't mind forgoing the one off sales charge in exchange for long term business gain.

Why would the fund has liquidity crunch?
As of September 2020, the fund size is larger than RM 4 bil (RM4,117,082,008.98/ 8,234,164,017.95 units)

https://www.eunittrust.com.my/pdf/Factsheet...00092020_fs.pdf

Even if the fund size is small, money market fund has the highest liquidity as its assets allocation are only in various cash deposits.

PMMMF return as of October 2020:
*
PMMMF Return
August 2020: 2.05%
September 2020: 1.9%
October 2020: 1.9 %

Between August till now, OPR did not reduce.

It is weird that PMMMF return reduces by 0.15% , without any changes to OPR.

Such money market fund should have funds in fixed deposit with longer tenure and higher interest (such as 1 year) (interest rate not affected by drop in OPR).

The higher interest helps to cushion the lower interest rate of funds in fixed deposit with shorter tenure (already affected by lower OPR).

Is Philip Mutual keeping more returns in itself for reserve, rather than distributing it to investors?

Yeah, these are just unverified speculation. But, it is saddening to know that PMMMF return is lower than the interest rate of conditional high interest savings accounts.

In July 2020, there was 0.25% cut.
The impact of OPR cut will come later not immediate.

Correct me, if I am wrong.

Following OPR cut by 0.25% in July 2020, PMMMF return for August 2020 was reduced by 0.25% , as compared to PMMMF return on July 2020.

If I am not mistaken, the drop in PMMMF return immediately follows the drop in OPR this year.

Edit: Corrected rate.

Sorry, I can't answer you.
I don't track PMMMF so closely.
And also didn't track correlation between PMMMF monthly ROI against OPR movement.
