hi, i heard that the kibbles for puppies need to soften by warm water before feeding them, but y is that?? Before that i just feed my shih tzu wif normal kibbles. When i try soften them last nice and fed her, she doesn't like to eat leh........
So is it necessary???

And i just bring my puppy for deworm last nite. The guy said that is better to deworm around 4 hours after meal. He just open my pup's mouth, then poke the tablet to her throat, then wala........so fast!!! So i'm wondering, if its a puppy, ok lah, easy, but when its an adult, teeth sharp.....If u do like that, fingers also putus wor....so how to feed them medicine? And how often should a puppy deworm? She will got her 2nd jad next week.

The other thing is, when i play wif her, she like crazy liao, run here and there, and like to bite ppl's toes and fingers, but since she's still young, not pain lah. When i slap her face lightly and said NO, she even crazy, bite again......Can stop it ah?? i scared she got used to it and bite ppl when she's grown up.

LOL , same , when i play with my puppy , she also like crazy , and will bite ppl one.. then when hit her butt , she more fierce , bark at me somemore LOL , but i know she's playful la .. not really fierce that type.

erm....feeding medicine to a grown up dog isn't too hard. u hafta do it. the vet can't do it anymore after she's grown up. if the owner push his/her finger into the throat, the dog will just respond to pushing ur finger out with her tongue. make sure u push deep, else the dog can somehow push the tablet back out. once its partially dissolved in saliva and its bitter, its gonna be hard to force her to open her mouth again.

I bought a bout 7`8weeks old male shih tsu puppy 2 days ago.of course,i'm inexperience.
i keep him in my room,wif a cage,but most of the time i jz let her out in my room n balcony area.

1)he likes 2 bite wadever...especially my fingers n legs..sumtimes is quite painful...so i bought a pack of "mom chewy" value pack of little boon 4 him...but he like not really like,mayb wif his teeth stil not able 2 bite tat bone...but sumtimes he jz use his mouth 2 hold it laa...he also likes clothes as well..so how?any opinion?stil keep letting my fingers 2 suffer?

2)his pee n poo proble. got few timew,he pee n poo in my living room or housemate's room...so funny..mostly he wil pee n poo in 2 diff area in my room..so i left newspaper on tat 2 specific spot b4 i went 2 class tiz morning...but end up wif,he change his habit n pee n poo in another 2 diff area..ishh
ya,another funny things is last midnite,bout 5 sumthing,i sudd hear his crying pityly sound quite loud and awake me,so i quickly woke up n on de light,scared his noice wil awake my housemates...then after i open de cage door, he quickly cum out n go 2 de normal area,2 pee...but i rather him 2 pee in his cage,since i got a container n newspaper under it...tiz incident make me feel angry but also funny..haha..but really hav no idea 2 train him since,he likes 2 pee n poo in diff area sumtimes,n not on de newspaper tat i hav prepared,instead of biting de newspaper as well..so any opinion?

3)My doggie likes 2 stick wif me so much,he dun like 2 stay in his cage,he wil make weird sound n bark n also shake de cage door...so hav no option,end up wif i hav 2 clear his pee n poo outside his cage n also stop him frm biting my things n especially wire,so dangerous..another thing is he wil cry n bark like hell when i leave my room,if i dun allow him 2 accompany me...according 2 my housemates,he barked n shouted 4 quite a long time after i left my house 4 meal...even i went 2 toilet or bath...how lehh?i'm a university student,hav 2 leave my house few times a day...lock him in cage he wil make noice,let him play around in my room alone,he also wil make noice..so any opinion?or method?

4)do u guys clean ur dogs' "ass hole" after they poo?

5)sumtimes when v dun allow him 2 do sumthing or wad,he wil jump bite ppl like mad,sudd so aggresive (luckily he is a shih tsu),how 2 calm him or stoop him?

5)how u guys punnish ur pets?got beat him?i did beat his backside tiz morning...but like not vry effective sumtimes....but also sympathy wif him..coz he likes 2 show his innocent face..haha

my shih tzu(female) likes to bite me when she is small
is a very NORMAL things
so u must tahan abit la...until she grow to 7-8 months

1st advice:
shih zhu cons is cannot live alone..never ever leave ur shih tzu alone for very long time in dark place.mine died because of that when try to come out of cage,head got stucked.we left her in her cage.my stupid maid lock the door and off the light.after 2 hours found her dead.god bless her soul.very sad
2nd advice:scould ur dog whenever bite ur finger.squeeze behind her neck like cat does for kitten to show u mean serious...spray the special solution to indicate to the dog where not to pee or poo
3rd advice: when she pees /poo at the correct place,praise her and give her treats ( this takes paitence)
4th advice: groomers did mention need suqeeze backside of shih tzu to make sure all is clear..eheheh but i dont do that.but commen sense if u see piece shit still stuck there,clean with warm wet cloth
5th advice: ur dog jumping wants to play with u.biting is also playing..firmly say no and beat her backside...

i have difficulty in stucking the tablet into my dog's throat too she keep struggling man

my shih tzu also same... for the first 1 month.. everynite i have to sleep next to her.. and when i go work.. she will make a menace around the house.. that is quite understanable coz her teeth is itchy .. like a newborn baby.. but after she shed her new teeth.. it will be less and less..

if u wan to train her.. beating sometimes dont work.. i recommend using positive reward..

u can tell when she is about to pee and poo...
when she does that.. carry her to one spot only
after she did her business.. reward her with cookie from eukanuba.. most dogs wont be able to resist it..

until she learn where and exactly when to pee or poo...
after u catch the timing .. most of ur problem soft..

second.. leave her in cage when u wanna go out.. initially she will yip and bark like crazy.. so u have to have a solid heart...

or else u house will turn up side down.. i stay by myself its still ok..
but i assume ur housemate doesnt like the idea of ur dog pising around his/her place.. no matter how much a dog lover is also the same..

my last time experience : my shih tzu go chew around wood base furtinure leg..
and all my favourite cd... my shoes .. my socks.. practically everything..

u might wan to consider a large cage maybe meant for rotwiller.. but be careful of the cage gap where ur shih tzu step.. i had a friend the shih tzu leg got stuck and now the leg like walking akward.. so put a plastic netting on top or buy the blue plastic like what the petshop ppl use.. shih tzu is the kind of dog need attention and care... and they are quickly adapt to new teaching.. but u must also Know let the shih tzu knOw when u r playing with her or when u r serious or angry..

good luck with ur training btw.. shih tzu can learn how to open the cage by themselves.. so becareful on that... when u say u stay in balcony i assume u live in flats or condo.. malaysia law dont allow pets in that kind of spaces.. u better be careful not to let ur shih tzu bark or yip too much.. one call to spca and bye bye to ur shih tzu. last reminder.. had a friend who siberian husky fell from 8th floor via the balcony grill gap.. so u know whats best for ur lovely dog..

Soaking kibbles in water is when the puppy got problem to eat hard food. So if your puppy can eat the kibbles with no problem then no need soak lah.

Finger won't putus. You must not show you are scared of the puppy. If you show you are scared, it will never listen to you and will bully you when it is older. You must be stern. Deworming should not be done often.... actually, once your pup finish all the vaccination and can take heart worm prevention medicine then no need deworming tablet. Heart Worm Prevention tablet is called Heart Guard, it is given monthly. Normally give puppy when they around 4 to 5 months old....

Do not slap your dog. The thing is, in dog body language, if you slap the dog during play, means you want to play more. What you should be doing is when she start to bite or be naughty during play, you say NO and move away. Do not play with her till she calm down. If she calms down, then only play with her. If she likes to bite fingers and toes, then what you can do is a trick. Buy a dog repellent herbal spray. It taste bitter. You spray on your hands and toes. Let her bite and taste it. Soon she will think that hands and feet are bad taste.

Then place the syringe in the dog's mouth and squirt the water. The water will wash the tablet down the throat. You can find this syringe at Pet Safari payment counter, or Ptaling street pet shop.

we never leave her alone for long time without lights close.that day got lots of guest came over.and the maid forgotten got dog there and closed the doors and light...had a bad feeling halfway thru the meeting but noticed that the door locked.the maid clamly just said later la open...then i grab the keys and open only to find the horror..how come the head can stick out while the cage is still close...sigh

every weekend i go giant do grocery shoping.. i sure buy one tin back..
she can actually finish the whole tin in one go..
and still lick the bowl dam clean.. until i cant find the oil stain..
no need to clean and worry bout the ants...
ppl normally feed their shih tzu around 10-20 pcs of dog food..
i buy eukanuba small breed 3kg pack..
and i give her a chunk of it.. around triple the amount most ppl give..
twice a day.. haha and she is the fattest shih tzu i have ever seen..
hahaha.. also shIt a lot...
