i think lock to 4G only is applied to modem.. smartphone wise u need to either root and install force 4G app/band like network signal guru, or use short code to enter band selection in certain phone,..

under the goldenOrb 192.168.1.1 -> modem -> Miscellaneous -> Cellular Mode

this is the speed i get with my old S3 LTE i9305 Cat3 LTE device
*
Thanks sifu! I have the same setup with my phone... so this confirm that network band lock is only on modem..

i'm sharing the link I bought my E5186 for the benefit of whoever that is interested in it:
https://world.taobao.com/item/534712629865...._u=r26e8sdfc377

I choose the one without the back cover since i'll be using antennas anyway
*
Thanks for sharing.. few pages back I was asking any reputable Taobao seller that we can trust to buy this expensive E5186 but no one answered..
If I might ask how was the experience buying from this seller?
And do you buy the antennas locally?

I believe a few have shared before if you search back. Anyway, the seller I bought from at least have it delivered to me. smile.gif
Nothing special with this seller, I reminded them to ship my item after 2 days no tracking update. After that, just wait for the international shipping.
The unit I bought comes with free 2 x omni directional antennas as pictured. it will boost the signal strength a bit but don't expect too much. Directional/Yagi antenna is still the choice to go if you don't have coverage in your area. take note of the range and specs of the antenna as well as test it out with your phone or DiGi's coverage map.
*
Thanks for the clarification.. so how long does it takes to get from China to your place? and normally what kind of courier did they use?

Anyone out there using the same configuration as mine: Using a LTE-A phone, USB tethering to mini PC, ICS to Gigabit LAN and connect to wifi router.
I found out something fishy on the Windows 10 in the mini PC.
Before USB tethering, i can get speedtest on the Redmi Note 3 Pro with 50-60Mbps.
But after USB tethering, i only got 35Mbps shown in the mini PC, same as through the wifi router by connecting to the wifi with another phone.
Therefore i tried with wifi hotspot with 2.4GHz (the phone is putting very near to the mini PC) and end up the same speed as USB tethering method.
However, if i used wifi hotspot with 5GHz, i can manage to get around 40Mbps++, although i still able to get 50Mbps++ from Redmi Note 3 and another phone connect directly to the hotspot.
So in the end, i end up using Wifi Hotspot method with 5GHz, although i still prefer using USB Tethering but something fishy in Windows 10 that throttle down the speed as USB 2.0 can goes up to 480Mbps while Wifi only can go Max 72Mbps.
I already google but none of them solve this issue, only talking about autotuninglevel but still the same after disable it.
If anyone know how to tweak in Windows 10 please kindly let us know.
This will be useful if in the future the LTE speed can go beyond 150Mbps and i want to route the full speed, not with throttle speed.

it doesn't matter with Malaysia set or china set or anywhere, with Snapdragon 650 then it support LTE-A Cat 6

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_devic...th_LTE_Advanced

I'm using Mi Max with Cat 7 and the download speed is almost the same can reach 60Mbps but the upload speed is double from 11-12Mbps to 22Mbps++
*
and then why a Mi5 cat 12 cannot support LTE-A here?

that's why, i'm stil doubting digi got LTE or LTE-A, cos almost all the device shown in LTE-A wikipedia is at least CAT6 with DL 300Mbps but what digi website mentioned is only theoretical speed of 150Mbps, not even Cat 6
Mi5 got 2 versions, one with 3GB/32GB is only Cat 6 with 2CA while the 3GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB are Cat12/13 with 3CA. All should have LTE-A, it doesn't matter with Global ROM (international set) or China ROM, the hardware is fixed, only thing is you need root apps to open up the band such as Mi5 doesn't support B5 but you still able to open up with root method
*
understood.. actually before this I was skeptical bout xiaomi phones whether it will support LTE-A or not but now after reading that your set does support LTE-A it was a relief for me regardless of rom region

QUOTE(prosibu @ Apr 27 2017, 11:06 PM)
No no... Dun confuse ppl here....
One carrier max is 20mhz...if 2CA mean 2x20mhz = 300mbps

BUT malaysia government only assign 10mhz of 2600mhz to each telco. And Digi use 10mhz of 1800mhz for 2CA.
That is y the CA is 2x10mhz = 150mbps

Remember spectrum allocation before u check the phone spec.
Cat cat cat is not equivalent to CA but they are related. smile.gif

Also, maxis grabbed redtone 10mhz and celcom grabbed altel 10mhz of 2600mhz to have 225mbps
Which is 20mhz+10mhz for their 2CA which is 225mbps

Comes with 4x4MIMO n 256QAM will push to 450mbps, and 450 above if more 1800mhz been used for 4g...
*
So for each 10 MHz will give you 75Mbps speed is it? CMIIM

Oops, corrected.

Yup, on the E5786, the signal kept switching between 3G and 4G. Not concerned though, I rather have no quota to worry about, and I already expect up and down speed fluctuation, since I'll be using this while moving about. Already have UniFi at home.
*
if you lock on 4g I believe you might get better speed than 10Mbps

thanks for the suggestion, but i just stick to mini PC to router method, because my alarm system need to port forward but most of our telco don't have public ip and the configuration of the ddns also failed, therefore what i do is use teamviewer to access my house alarm.

gearbest sometime can be very fast, within a week but overall less than 3 weeks.

OT: might be getting mini pc like this.. is this brand reliable for long usage? or you have any other recommendations?

hey i noticed this very same thing too actually, i have tp-link M7350 and noticed the difference in speed when connected by wired and wireless 5ghz connections. i think there's some problem with the RNDIS driver in windows 10 for the wired connection, hence the reduction in speed. not sure if it will help but maybe you can try updating the RNDIS driver to improve the performance?

link about RNDIS problem in windows: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/ge...indows-t3039183

btw, do u think i could use the mini USB to LAN/ethernet adapter to connect my M7350 to a the WAN/LAN port of a wireless router so that other devices connected to that router will get internet sourced from the M7350?
*
Mind sharing average speed of i150 using this M7350?

yup, it's quite reliable as i bought 3 units of it~
previously use 2GB RAM but the Pdanet software always crash, then change to this 4GB RAM then no crash~
of cos you need a UPS to keep the power always on, else frequent blackout will spoilt the PC, just like your desktop.
this is the cheapest 4GB RAM mini pc i can get so far, if i found any new model with even cheaper price will let u know.

I only know Chuwi tablets.. just today found out today they got mini PC also.. anyway thanks for the info! thumbup.gif

they got many ways to satisfy your warranty claim:

1. Return back to them with the shipping fee paid by you and non-returnable.
2. Keep the item and accept partial refund to your Wallet as store credit.
3. Resend a replacement (No return needed) but they will charge you a handling fee which is slightly lower from what you paid for.

My advise is if the item is very cheap, you can always go for 2 (if don't want anymore or buy from elsewhere) or 3 (if you really need a replacement by them).
But if the shipping fee is not much, just pay for it and get the replacement or they will just fully refund to you if unable to repair it.
then you can buy another unit again.
my brother one just got lightning struck and in the end they fully refund to me and i buy another unit again.
the shipping fee is around RM50.

Below is what they have written:

After reviewing your case, please review our possible solutions:

1)Return the item back to us.
You can return the item back to us in China as per our terms and conditions indicated in the link above.
Once we receive the item, we can exchange or offer a refund of 129.99 USD to your GB Wallet with extra points. As long as the item does not exceed the 45 day money back guarantee limit.
The shipping fee for sending the product back to us will be paid by customers and is non-refundable.

2)Keep the item and accept a partial refund to your Wallet as store credit.
We can offer a partial refund of your product value which is 15 USD on your wallet.
The refund will take 24 hours to process and appear in your GB wallet.
This amount can be used for your future orders.
In this case, you can keep the item and do not need to return it to us for this time.
Learn more about wallet benefits: http://www.gearbest.com/about/gb-wallet.html
Check out to use points: http://www.gearbest.com/about/about-points.html?157wrew

3)Resend a replacement (No return needed).
We can resend you a replacement but we kindly ask you cover a handling fee of 105 USD. If you choose this option, we will send you an invoice and arrange the shipment for you.

welcome.. mifi is also a good alternative if your concern about portability.. battery maybe can last around 4 to 6 hours depends on model.. charging also easy can plug into many sources (car usb port, power bank, cigarette lighter port etc)
