Just learned something that shocked me..
Huawei P9 though Cat6 LTE phone does not support LTE-A.. Yes it has Cat6 but no CA.. Means no interband.. That's a RM2k phone..
*
I think P9 is LTE-A Cat 6 devices. But just not support the Digi (or Malaysian telco) network.

*Which model is your P9?

Not necessary.. Redmi Note 3 although cat6 phone does not support interband CA that required for Digi's LTE-A..
I'm not using a P9 but someone complaint in his FB post that his P9 only got 15Mbps with Digi's i150
*
I think redmi note 3 support interband. This is the reason why i never choose Huawei phone now, because still not so confident with their Kirin CPU. Only choose snapdragon for now.

im afraid that speedtest/fast.com doesnt directly translate into real world download speed..

most of the time, the speed is unstable.im afraid digi is capping our speed..
*
For my case, speed test is slower than real time download.

1TB is too much. Better go for 500GB. Then all abuser will switch network.
*
I prefer traffic shaping method. More efficient to control abuser and network.

After 1TB speed cap to 64kb is considered traffic shaping or not? Or you're talking about traffic shaping according to time of the day?
You need to go to the DiGi website to click I receive SIM. Else, you will sit and wait forever.
*
Nope.

Some kind of soft cap. Example:

When your usage below 10GB > Max speed.
Below 50GB > 90%
Below 150GB > 70%
Below 300GB > 50%
Below 500GB > 30%
500GB+ 15%

Including some conditions like the tower bandwidth, total users... adjust to some best speed and fair to everyone.

QUOTE(Neomax3 @ May 4 2017, 01:32 PM)
telco like Digi have SLA? like unifi have 80% for what I know
*
QUOTE(gogo2 @ May 4 2017, 01:33 PM)
Yeah that is kinda crazy. Normal usage is 200gb per month for single person. 500gb is considered abused. 1TB is really crazy.
*
Hard cap with quota do not help the network much. It is just easier setting for the network admin.

1000 normal user download at the same time (let's say 10mbps each = 10gbps bandwidth in the network used). But a single abuser download 24/7, no matter how much he downloaded, he just used 10m bandwidth for the network. It didn't cause congestion.

Fair usage policy is considered the SLA.

From my view, there is not able to judge "fair" by usage. Just like some people eat 1 plate of rice, but some eat 3 plates. Can i say the one who eat 3 plates is not fair, he is wasting the resources and stop him eating 3 plates?

For FUP, telco should control the speed is reasonable and usable for everyone.

Yea... the speed cap he proposed is pure crazy... but we already sign up when free unlimited high speed, they can't change agreement Liao! Enjoice!!!
*
No, soft cap is under covered by the agreement, the FUP (fair usage policy). You may google this term and how enforced by other countries telco.

But Malaysia telco just abuse it and describe as "quota"

Sure bro! Btw I bought from sing4gmy on Lazada, actual price rm 410, got 10% maybank cc or debit discount, use ShopBack. So total cost roughly 355
*
That's why i say Malaysia telco like to abuse it with "quota". When there is problem, just hard cap you with quota. Today network is good, cap you at 1000gb, tomorrow not well, change to 20gb. One day they may hard cap us like maxis did. This is not FUP. This is F U Policy.

QUOTE(Neomax3 @ May 4 2017, 02:05 PM)
If I remembered correctly Digi also did not advertise their speed for LTE and LTE-A right?
*
I do not realize any speed too from their ads.

the reason why telco can offer unlimited plan such as calls, sms, or even data, becos the concept of those resources are shared.

last time everyone uses calls and sms a lot, so it is not unlimited that time, now they can offer unlimited bacause there will not be all users fully utilize it at the same time.

same goes to data, they can offer unlimited, they know that not everyone is doing 24x7 download but some users. there are even light users on the same plan for sure. so eventually it balances out.

mobile data speed is really dependent on the no of users at the same area, if there are lot of users and again the traffic is high, the network sure will get congested.

that's why sometimes it is not good to go for the package that everyone is after, as when users get more and more, the network will turn bad due to shared bandwidth.
*
Every telco actually same. Market survey 100 users, implement 50 users bandwidth, and hope to sell for everyone.

e5186 is cat6 support LTE-A. can get good speed....more pricey... later out 5G all modem gg...lol hmm.gif
*
When 5G release, they sure reduce lower grade network bandwidth to support it. Just like 3G now, last time DC-HSPA+ can reach 8-20mbps. Now we need 4G to achieve it. Only advantage which 3G cannot achieve is, LTE has better ping. 4G speed not even can max DC-HSPA+ 42mbps for most areas.

This plan has hidden 999gb quota since the beginning.
But seem not enforced yet.

same... im hardly goes above 100gb...
*
When 1tb enforced, some will say it is unlimited plan, cannot have quota.
When truely unlimited, some will complain it will spoil the network.

Hard to satisfy everyone biggrin.gif

I have no problem with the quota. I just make it simple, the plan i sign is exactly same from beginning and the future. Don't change or add any tnc later.

Better dont ask discount from TM now. It will renew your contract. Unless you want keep using TM product.
My old streamyx only RM110 4M.

Have a question here
Do you guys recommend to use those 5ghz router?
If i use 4g lte modem router like b310. I know b310 not support router
Will the router boost up speed  or functions like what ?
*
The reason of choosing 5ghz because 2.4ghz is congested.
If your place do not have a lot 2.4ghz wifi, should be no problem.
Be minded 5ghz have smaller penetration, mean the coverage is smaller than 2.4ghz.

My area have limited wifi, so i think the router should not be compulsory.
beside if adding router to setup, which mean need add value to the 4g LTE modem router ( more pricey).
Haha thanks btw
*
My house only has 3 wifi detected. The speed is same either with LAN/Wifi (30m+/-). Pointless for me to invest better router.
I am waiting for a better LTE-A usb modem.

Oh ya that right. LTE-A modem is too overprice for me.
LTE-A coverage just 200m away from me.
LTE modem should be sufficient in this case right?
*
For a Huawei LTE-A CPE modem, it need RM800~.
I hope a cheaper USB modem which can get around rm300.

But from 4m streamyx to 30m digi, the feeling is good now.
Some more i used it for Thailand trip last week and free roaming. The feeling was excellent.

USB modem 4G also RM 260+, dont think that 4G+ will cost around RM300 hahaha.
I know right, that feeling from hell to heaven.
*
Megafon branded Huawei E3372, under RM200. The cheapest and best LTE usb modem you can get. I am using it.

Taobao around RM140 excluded shipping.

wow so affordable yeahh. izit if i find any router/ modem router that support usb, then i am done?
Just plug in and u can enjoy the network of 4G already? will it last long like those b310?
You make me interested on usb modem already hahah
*
By theory, any router which has USB support, and able to flash openwrt custom firmware, can support.
There are some routers already have ready firmware to flash only.

Huawei usb modem very good and durable. I have no spoil before even use for years.

And best is, any new upgrade usb modem, i just sell the old one, and replace the new one. No need whole set change.
