QUOTE(se7en @ Apr 1 2017, 11:54 AM) Bigger question here is Uber/Grab paying their side of taxes. IIRC, they don't collect/deduct GST on their final bill. And based on the above article, LHDN is suddenly realizing that they are not collecting as much as previous years, but they are oblivious to the fact that more and more people are being laid off and are jobless. So they are trying to figure out what are people doing for income and this would have been one of the highlights. No wander LHDN are interested in UBER and GRAB now Maybe royal customs next for GST

be fair la. uber drivers already have edge over taxi drivers. now dun even wan to pay tax? what else? give u free pr1ma house mau?
the logical way will be to -20% off the income from uber as maintenance fee, then the rest will be chargeable income.

QUOTE(Boy96 @ Apr 1 2017, 12:01 PM) How to separate uber grab use and personal use? Divide 50:50? That is tricky.... Normally LHDN will apportion a percentage, say a quarter to half, depending on the nature of the business....

QUOTE(se7en @ Apr 1 2017, 12:25 PM) I'm not sure if that is even possible as they are subject to personal income tax, not business income tax which has such reliefs. I am saying if they are officially registered as a business....If not, then of course no vehicle relief allowed... If they register as an enterprise, is sole proprietorship usually, then although they still declare as personal income tax, legitimate expenses related to the business are allowed.... QUOTE(lucifah @ Apr 1 2017, 11:09 AM) apara... LHDN sudah cakap. 30k & above annually baru kena tax if u r doing less than rm2,500 a month then apa mau worry i think what they arguing about is that there is no deduction consideration for the cost. uber driver cost: maintenance, car fuel, car loan (arguable), and etc. so for example, they make 50k per annum as income.. will kena tax..but in reality, their income is rm50k-fuel-maintenance-etc= taxable income
