last time when i goes to tyre shop, been looking at one tyre, archilles atr sport.
the treadware is 400, grip is AA.

Any owner here had used this tyre before? what is the review?
Price also very cheap, 205 55 16, rm 190.

more often than not, you get what you pay for smile.gif

tread wear* and grip ratings are well, ratings, and non mainstream/reputable brands tend to "oversell" their ratings sweat.gif

could probably ask here too. though i guess TS havent got around to format/furnish up the thread lol

OT: btw, been reading a lot of good posts from your exhaust sharing, perhaps some time next year once i got more cash flow, you think you could help me out in creating the most quiet exhaust with no performance loss (or performance gain! lol)

think its even possible? heh

ok i will further ask there, if toyo trampio vimode is still available i would want to get those tyres, that would be good, tyre shop i went told me toyo tyre got so expensive these days that its size 14" is hard to come by, most dealers cant bother with too expensive small sized tyres, probably due to small potential buyers

no problem bro, just drop me a pm and i'll see what i can do. it is in fact possible to have an exhaust system which posses outstanding performance at street level noise

thanks man, ill keep you in mind when the time comes biggrin.gif

Any recommendations for 215/55R17 or 225/55R17? Intended for a Mitsu ASX, so, not for speeding/performance purposes. High priority on Comfort and low noise, decent wet & dry handling

help me test out yokohama's advan db or c drive 2 tongue.gif tongue.gif

Advan dB still have no members using, but C-Drive 2 have some positive feedback already. Good grip and handling with comfort. Wear don't know yet, because still new...... tongue.gif
*
well still wouldnt know how well the noise/comfort can go. as far as wear is concern, im aware that it is using soft compound and even eco orange oil, so im not putting too much hopes on its tread wear durability. one cant really have the best of everything right? wink.gif

oh ya, another thing i have to ask..just now got some free time, did some survey on the tyre shop..I was suggested by the tauke to use Continental Max Contact 5 (MC5)..I told him my top priorities are low noise and comfort, he recommended MC5, summore is new model tyre from Continental..but somehow i could not get much info on MC5, no info on Continental website..

besides MC5, he also suggested other alternatives such as Hankook S1 Evo and Falken Ziex 912..i'm tempted to get the MC5, but stock will only be in after CNY..what's your opinion bro?
*
i thought comfort and noise would be CC5 (comfort contact 5)

atm i really wanna try out c drive 2 despite the bad reviews on its treadwear. basically aside from this issue i couldnt find anything else that is bad with it (well, expensive because need to change frequently due to faster treadwear would still be considered treadwear issue)

Quiet tyre? Will do more research on that, thanks!
*
if you're willing to try, PLEASE provide feedback biggrin.gif
they are really really expensive though since it is yokohama's top of the line quiet/comfort tire

as far as i know the tread wear isnt that ideal for such an expensive tire (soft compound, also using the new orange oil thingy compound that c drive 2 are using) and wet grip isnt anything to talk about. other than that, no other negative feedbacks i've seen for these.

Just gotten all 4 tires finally replaced for my Nissan Sentra, and as you may have guessed it, it is the Yokohama C drive 2.
Here is my short review on it:

- SUPERB NVH reduction. can barely hear road noise despite going over 120-140km/h
- grip is really good too, which is understandable from the soft compound, was driving pretty aggressively during the test run
- can't comment for wet grip as i wouldn't dare risking the car and it wasn't wet/raining at the time

Also, i have did some recording (you may ignore the video lol) on both pre/post tire change for a more solid benchmark to reduce/eliminate any placebo effects (You know, spanking new rather expensive tires and all)
and below is the sound spectrum comparison:

QUOTE
Attached Image

Pre test tires are Continental CC-1 mid/late 2006 production stock tires from the day the car was purchased
Post test tires are Yokohama C Drive 2 mid/late (week 2x 2011) brand new from shop

time of pretest is around 7ish AM 14th Jan 2012
time of posttest is around 3ish AM 15th Jan 2012

avg speeds of pre test is between 100km/h to 130km/h
avg speeds of post test is between 110km/h to 150km/h

granted, both tires and times are rather biased for an accurate/solid benchmark, however the NVH of the new tires are just god damn remarkable. Hell, if you google up reviews/feedbacks on the c drive 2, so far i just cannot seem to find anything bad about it save the tread wear, which again, is understandable for the benefits it provides being a soft compound tire.

not to mention, wind resistance/engine noise are present in both testing, and overall is louder than the tire/road noise. and that makes it even harder to gauge for a more accurate benchmark

for the actual sound sample/recording, you may refer to below links on my server (again, you may ignore the video as i have to leave my handphone on the passenger seat
http://www.quazacolt.com/continental_cc1.3gp

http://www.quazacolt.com/yokohama_cdrive2.3gp

feel free to feedback/ask any questions, thanks smile.gif
hope you enjoy my review.

Seems like not much people using Yokohama Advan dB V551, latest from Yokohama, most quiet tyre offer in Yokohama range.
*
advan is basically their flagship range, very steep price sad.gif

How about d grip of c drive 2?
*
i personally think it is ok. driving 160+km/h on proton iswara, 170-180km/h on nissan sentra, no prob. corner whacking max around 100-130km/h, no prob also

guys, any recommendation to replace my MY-01 195/55/R16.
currently im looking at C Drive 2, PS3 or V12. performance + a bit comfort.
MY-01 is not very good on damp/wet road, skid a few times already in Karak yesterday which did not happen to my previous A Drive R1 sad.gif
*
most expensive is ps3 which will have performance + comfort.

v12 more towards performance

c drive 2 more towards comfort.

hope this answers you smile.gif

note: c drive 2 arent that good on wet performance, however if you drive sensibly on such conditions, i dont think it would be an issue either (i've speed around 100-130 or so km/h during wet conditions and so far no issues)

if wet grip is your main concern, hankook/michelin would be a better choice.

from an uncle's point of view... noisy.. uncomfortable coz stiff..

from a motorsports point of view... noisy like semi slicks... grips superb.. stiff sidewall good for cornering. decent in the wet... cheap.. lasts quite long for a tire of that level.
*
eh noisy? the iswara thread/folks are giving off that these tires are comfort/silent, or am i mistakening it with other model? (31? or something?)

yeah....bang for buck for wat i wanna use them for...

im also considering the 595RSR, Achilles 123 and even R888...but most likely the KU36...cheapest and i think they last the longest heh heh heh
*
i can vouch for the achilles 123, really damn good tires for track usage. my car sampan like mad also no issue, tires biting the road hardcore.

road noise though, oh god... compared to the cdrive 2, achilles 123 makes me wanna kill myself to end the noise suffering lol.

bros..my tires are already 2.5 yrs old, surveying for new set of wheels. spec now 195/65/15 kia forte. looking at :

same size - XM2

or upgrade to 205/55/16 - N8000

requirements : long lasting/quiet/comfort > FC > dry/wet grip..speed < 140kmh only..

i see many recommends C Drive 2 for average performance..any advice from sifus..
*
if you dont speed too much, you can go for that.

however dont expect long lasting from c drive 2 soft compound tires smile.gif
