My service center asked me to go for S Drive if really wanted to try out Yokohama. I am still in dilemma which tyre to go for. Probably PS3
*
it'll be noisy since directional.

general feedback is around 40-60% left the nvh will worsen, along with wet grip too.
dry grip/traction/handling no doubt top notch smile.gif

How many km before your C Drive 2 botak?
*
mine used 1 year, 40-50k km, still got 20-30% or so left.

bear in mind the tires' been through numerous accidents/touge/track driving.

Has anyone here tried out Nitto (NT05 or Neogen or NT450) ?

Planning to get 205/50/R15 soon

Which one should I go for ?

Love to do hard cornering once a while LOL
*
nitto neogen has a lot of positive reviews, decent comfort/nvh levels (suspect will get noisier overtime due to the inner harder compound, then again it's only for the inner blocks) while suitable for lowered/negative cambered cars due to it's design.

QUOTE(RisingTide @ Apr 7 2014, 09:37 PM)
Hey guys and sifus, I'm currently driving a Nissan Latio 1.6 ST-L on 205/45/R17 and I will be changing for new sets of tires soon, hence I'm looking for new tires here.

I'm a long distance driver and hence quiet and comfort are my main priority, and also since we live in Malaysia, I'm looking for good grip during rain as well. My budget is RM360 per tire.

So far, I had a few in mind, the Conti MC5 (RM360), Michelin XM2 and Michelin PS3. What are you throughts, which tire would you think be suited to my requirements? Any other suggestions beside Conti and Michelin?
*
215/45/17 GY eagle f1 as2.

may need to top up a bit.

Dear all Sifu.. I'm driving a Civic FB 2.0 that come with Michelin PS3 215/45R17 rubber
Overall it's a good tyre except TOO NOISY. (Maybe Civic noise isolation not that good??)
Not it's time to change new rubber, not gonna use PS3 anymore cos really can't accept the noise. I search some review say that Michelin Primecy 3ST is quite good with low noise.
Any user of 3ST here? I'm about to change either 3ST or Pirelli Cinterato P7... Please advice, thanks
*
fb would be the latest gen civic right? shouldn't the noise insulation be improved?

anyways consider something like the yokohama Advan db if nvh is your priority smile.gif

I'm planning to get F1 D5, but worried bout the rotation thingy when it comes to every 10k. Read some reviews, ppl said this tyre can't do rotation. Is that true?
Any sifus mind to share their experience? Thanks
*

What is the recommended brand for 215/50/R17 tyre that COMFORT but bit cheaper than Michelin Primacy ST ? Currently, looking at Yokohama C-Drive...
*
can look out for the nitto NT830, yokohama c drive2 (not the older c drive), yokohama bluearth, or toyo C1S tires.

i'd say cc5 aren't too bad too if you do not drive fast at all especially in the wet. (under 80kph, slower if rain is heavier)

goodyear tires come with warranty for both defect and road hazard (depending on model), so not to worry on durability.

comes with lots of T&C

So, whats the verdict?  smile.gif  AD08R is better than T1R ?

Currently I'm using XM2, thinking about changing to T1R, next time.
*
think about this: AD08R is oftenly compared against Toyo's R888 semi slicks while AD08R is only an extreme performance category.
It's equivalent of Toyo is R1R, which is below R888, and T1R UHP is below R1R.

so i believe you should have your answer? smile.gif

Previous review of the Yokohama C drive 2 on the same vehicle:
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=48254806

My quick review of the Yokohama Bluearth AE01:
- Really comfortable tires, even more comfort/softer than the C Drive 2 despite pumping about additional 2 psi more (35front 33 rear) to further take advantage of the lower rolling resistance.

- even quieter than the c drive 2! can barely hear anything from the wheels unless road conditions are totally horrible (potholes/unpaved roads etc)
Cabin/wind noise are more apparent compared to current tire noise.

- Very low rolling resistance as per advertised: Merely putting in D is more than enough to creep through most traffic jams with any throttle input required and that alone is a guaranteed fuel save.
If you're not in a jam, this tire has no issue cruising without throttle input once you bring it up to optimal cruising speed. Say 80kph? It will maintain that speed even without any throttle input for at least 5-10 seconds or even more depending on road conditions/gradient.

- It's as if the tires are pillows and your car is riding on it.

- Very light weight tire, can be practically lifted with a finger for 195/60/15 size.
The tires are also VERY soft and if you press it you can almost deform the tire entirely sweat.gif

- What i don't like is the steering response, any steering input will have some sort of delay. Perhaps i am too spoiled with the AD08R with laser precision steering input/response and comparatively between AE01 vs AD08R, it's like an exact polar opposite.

- Tire flexing is also very apparent when you do very hard braking/cornering. Definitely have to take it easy with this tire.

- wet performance are decent, handles quite firmly over mrr2 water puddle at 100-120kph.
slightly more unnerving compared to c drive 2 despite being almost worn down, would advise caution as you wear the tire further.

*summary*
pros:
- low NVH, comfortable
- low rolling resistance
- non directional/asymmetric = ease of rotation.

cons:
- overall performance be it dry/wet
- bad steering response
- lots of tire flex
- pricing may be on the higher side compared to better performance tires, or even same LRR/eco category tires.
main competitor should be against the bridgestone ecopia ep200 and michelin XM2 as these 2 brands tend to price their products at a premium as well.

Guys, Friends:
Can anyone comment on these 2 tyres? PS3 and AD08R. Currently I am on Continental CSC5 w/seal but I found this tyre very bumpy. Not to mention its price. I am thinking to switch to PS3 or AD08R. My tyre profile is 235/40/R18.

Could you guys provide your comment on these 3 tyres? My requirement is good performance in high speed + comfort.
*
if comfort is among your priority, ad08r is among the worst choices you can ever make.
doesn't "extreme category" ring any bells?

Michelin PS3/PSS, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 or Yokohama Advan sport V105 are among the better choices since you practically want everything in a tire with no mention of budget smile.gif

Thanks. I actually expecting a reply from you because you are the tyre expert wink.gif

I have used PS3 but it's noisy at some level but it's good all rounder. I've not tried the other 2 you mentioned. I am adding one more tyre, which is the Advan DB, which I don't think it will out perform the 3 mentioned.
*
I'm no expert, just an enthusiast that relies a lot on internet information laugh.gif

anyways, if you consider ps3 being noisy, it may be tough to satisfy on the nvh criteria.
Advan DB should be no problem, however it may have issues meeting your performance expectations.

I would still say give Advan DB/AS2 a try though, as PSS/Advan V105 will be a huge increase in pricing as those 2 are max performance category (catered to luxury/high end cars that demands everything)

a simple comparison, you can almost buy 2 pieces of Advan DB with the price of one Advan V105, in fact, Advan V105 is around the same price, if not even more expensive than AD08R depending on size selections.

dunno la bro...
tried calling 3 Michelin's authorised outlets and all of them said the same thing....
ordered for long time already but no news till now and 2 out of 3 outlets said they heard rumours from factory that PS3 no longer in production..

so what to do...tyre need to be changed already...
change to XM2 lorr
*
i think they just holding stock and spreading shit rumors.

because michelin throwing price for ps3, and if they use old stock (assuming more expensive) to sell, they lose money (or less earning)
