Hi,

I've got a stupid question here, is a wide screen laptop suitable to play games. Will the graphics be streched out due to the wide screen.

Cheers

Yes. Actually I think widescreen notebook is not practical. Unless you always want to view document side by side (like when doing programming) and want to always watch DVD. Else, a lot of application will look weirdo.

guess wat...
b4 i started on wide screen.. i hv the same opinion..
but after i got used to it... looking at normal screen seems weird... the horizontal view space seems "not enough"...

if i remember correctly, there's a thread in Gamers Hideout which provides a link to some sites to get fix/work-around for playing games under wide screen....

wide screen is fun... the horizontal view space is wide n that saves u a few line to scroll..

though, i hvnt done any programming, screen design especially, on wide screen yet... not sure if the output will be weird...
normal applications might feels a bit "weird" if u r picky about extra space around the usuall type area in Microsoft Word, for example. Lowyat.net seems a bit wide as well... haha.... whistling.gif

but... all depends on personal preference... nvr know if u didnt try...

well, FYI most of the ODMs/OEMS are from taiwan & China. xcept fujitsu and sony are made in japan IIRC.

and wat do u mean Asus, Benq getting lower cost in order to mark up more?
price vary becoz of configuration/specifications and also the built/design.

Asus, HP, Fujitsu, Benq and some other are well known brand.
Aris, Essential are quite new to the market, estabalished locally IIRC.

Looking for a Centrino below rm4k? try ur luck with Aris, Essential, Prestigio, Hyundai M-Life, Techdos (if i left out any brand...sorry la, can't remember all) tongue.gif
Twinhead AMD based laptop also got.

or how bout Celeron M based notebooks, basically it's a crippled Pentium M Banias core, with 1/2 of the L2 cache and also advance power saving feauter. Acer has some, price vary from rm3.6k~rm4.4k

cheers. just my 2cents.

Thanks guys.....coz I'm interested in a laptop with a 15.4 screen which I think I am getting a good price. Was hoping to play some occasional games on it. Worried if the wide screen will cause the graphics to be streched. The shop said that it will not but wanted some comments from actual users just to be sure.

Cheers
