this is an ACER specific issue:
due to acer's international travellers warranty (ITW);s limitation, only buyers who buy in the residing country will be eligible to claim for ITW at a foreign country. a foreigner buy an acer laptop at the foreign country will end up with a dead ITW when back in home country.

i got to know this when exchanging idea on a notebook forum. this is confimed by acer AUS n US... not sure about malaysia.

i feel, better wait n get the laptop at pc fair(book at least coz u dont hv to bring the 'brick' of money n make a purchase there)... they might take away something, but they give a reasonable price rebate/discount that let's u buy more stuff than wat u can get with the same amount of money now. just wait n c wat they will throw inside. forget about 'free' thumbdrives n mice unless u really need them... they should b able to give u another 1 or 200 discount in case u dont want those offer.
moreover, if not mistaken, acer will roll out their new ePowermanagement at roughly that time.. they might take it as a product highlight to compete with asus's powergear. looking at the trend of laptop hdd going to break the 40gb tradition, there's a possibility u might get an upgrade to 60gb at the same price. the RAM.. u can get it at quite a low price off czone... no worry...
thumb drive? get else where... cheaper...
conclusion... research more n find the lappy that u live the most...

spam u go carrefour there the pork section (non-halal) go search for a thin of canned pork meat there a brand named spam its delicious if u can eat pork(no offence to muslims)

got a fren intro me to buy laptop with p4 proccessor then just buy a wifi card ... he said this can save $$ ....

pentium mobile is wireless ...
centrino is also wireless

but how to compare the speed between them ?

centrino is stand by the intel pentium m processor, intel 855 chipset series,& intel wireless lan pro.

brands at your budget will be dell, compaq or prestigio.

u'll save ??issn't centrino notebooks price almosth e same as a p4 anyways a p4 proc will suck alot of power normal p4 prroc will b out of batt in 2 housrs while a centrino will last at least 4-5 mine does .

the only set back of centrino is tat even if u hav a good gpu u can;t fully utilize it coz not enuf juice if u r really concerned bout the performance a blend of p4 proc n a stand alone gpu will gif u a good machine but the batt life will b sucky the main reason u r getting a nb is for portability n work rite?imagine u r working half way the nb batt low in less then 2h?tat'll suc
