Hi guys, im going to taiwan end of next month. Currently looking for affordable hotels or hostels through the thread but still unsure which is good.
Any recommendations for budget btw RM100-150 per night in taipei? Individual bathroom prefered. Thanks in advance.

That easy. Just take the red line MRT line from the main station to the end of the line. That will be Danshui famous red bricked station.

Timing? Can't really remember probably 30-40 min?

Ya, planning to take the MRT.. jz wan to estimate the timing n how long of the journey..

When Taifung happend means most of the places will shut down business too, rite? Including bus, MRT, taxi too?

What are the best months to go Taiwan? i prefer not so hot like Msia. Weather like Genting would be the best & cozy.

I plan to use Raya Holiday as the opportunity.. Else i have to plan for some other country due to taifung issue.

thanx.

Hi, so I'm going to Taiwan next sunday. Flight AA total cost RM1084/2pax booked last september.

will stay 4 nights at taipei at Fun Taipei Backpackers near Jiantan MRT (Shilin Night Market) rate TWD4640/4nights/2pax

then will travel south to Cingjing and stay one nite there at starry house. TWD1980 including breakfast & steamboat dinner for 2person.

next day will go sun moon lake and back to taichung staying at J&I costing TWD1300 w/o breakfast.

Then next day only leave for airport.

7days/6nights. Just wanna let u guys know only... it's free n easy and i have done quite a lot of research. but can't really finish the whole taiwan.

probably will just change all MYR to TWD here instead of switching to USD. Will activate ATM card so that I can use in Taiwan ti withdraw cash if need more $$.

i apply digital tour buddy from taiwan youth. if you below 30 yrs old, u can get free sim with TWD100 preloaded. but must return back before you leave.

if you have any questions, can ask me...i do not come here regularly, u can instead email to me at joonliang9@yahoo.com if you have any questions urgent.

k,thx,bye!

the digital tour buddy is where you can apply for a 2G phone or a 3G simcard. Both comes with NTD $100 worth of credit.

Besides that, the phone also equipped with 24-hour service hotline to help foreigners obtain all the travel and services information. Besides, it has in-built dictionary function of English-Chinese translation for backpackers enable to communicate without language problems. If the travelers are confused about where to stay or how to approach a local attraction, the English booking system of the youth hostel and the taxies has set up the one-key dials in the Digital Tour Buddy to solve a lot of the problems that overseas visitors might face.

More info: http://youthtravel.tw/

Basically it's a simcard/phone with simcard that comes with NTD$100 credit where u can call the locals/taxi/hotel and even back to Msia. Just that you loan this from the tourism board and need to return it back when u leave Taiwan. I find it quite useful as i opted for the sim card as i wanted to online. Once the credit is finish, can reload at any 7-11 outles and any convenience stores there..

back from Taiwan, Colormix is a homestay and not hotel so please do not expect services like hotel. We stayed 4 nights in Colormix and 2 nights in TS Hotel. If you compare, TS's location, service and facility is much more better. but the price is double of Colormix. 1 thing not good about colormix is that it is in an old building, so the sewerage system is not so good and you cannot throw your toilet paper into the toilet bowl, please throw the toilet paper into the dustbin in the toilet.... this is so incovenient...

I think that's normal practise in Taiwan to throw toilet paper in the dustbin instead of the bowl. Even the hostel I stayed also having this reminder. I disregard & follow M'sian habit by throwing inside the bowl..Not use to throwing used/soiled paper inside bin..yucksss
