Guys, am new to this, and planning to accumulate Ether over a long period of time.
What is the best way to start buying?
*
Can refer to front page guide on how to acquire it. Ether falls under "altcoins" in the guide. wink.gif

Wow. I sold mine at 500+ sats didn't expect them to moon so quickly. Now imagine if you had 100BTC. You'd have 224BTC by now tongue.gif
*
Nice gains. thumbup.gif However, in cryptocurrencies, 25-50% or even 100% gain is normal. If you can hold on, why not hold longer?

Just for info, I bought DGB at 64 sats. Sold 10% at 750 and 10% at 850, expecting it to drop before I pick it up again. Instead it shot up much more. My 80% left is now 100%+ again. wink.gif

Oh ya, just for info. My strategy is mainly HODL with some swing trades at the side. The way cryptos is going, I think it is better to HODL, good coins that is.

Once I'm done with my finals ill look at some other potential coin. Gotta put some into baby coins but all seems growing exponentially. Cheaper altcoins have better chances of getting multiplied further, yeah?

How long have you held the DGB for?
*
Bought mid April. Didn't have much hope for it at that time as the only news was joining up with minecraft. Only in crazy cryptoland where you can get such gains. rclxub.gif

Yeah, "cheaper" altcoins but you have to also see the total number of coins and it's market cap. The only problem is a lot of coins are still unproven, you could say, work in progress...... wink.gif

Hedge Funds hesitate investing in Bitcoin, Ethereum & Ripple despite fast growth : http://us.blastingnews.com/business/2017/0...-001740023.html

QUOTE
Since the beginning of the year, all three major cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ripple, have increased their value almost exponentially, performing much better than any other asset.
Cryptocurrencies outperform all other assets

Last week, #Bitcoin passed $2,300 and more than doubled its value since the beginning of the year. During the same period, Ethereum increased its value from $8.24 on January 1, to $203 which represents a rise in the value of 2,367%. #Ripple (XRP) has performed even better by increasing its value by 4000%, reaching $0.26 since the start of the year.

On the other hand, more traditional assets have not performed as well since the beginning of the year.

The S&P 500 Index has gone up by 7.9% and NASDAQ by 15%. Regarding traditional currencies, the euro has risen against the dollar by approximately 6% and the British pound has risen by about 2%.

The numbers speak for themselves and many people find it difficult to understand the reasons why #Hedge Funds have not yet capitalized on the cryptocurrency investment trend.
Reasons hedge funds hesitate to invest in cryptocurrencies

There are a few factors that make many hedge funds unwilling to invest in cryptocurrencies. These are briefly analyzed below.

Lack of knowledge: A hedge fund manager who chose to remain anonymous told CNBC that many hedge funds are unwilling to invest in a product for which they do not have sufficient knowledge and do not fully understand. Indeed, blockchains are complicated software but they could have educated themselves in order not to miss out on the opportunity.

Security and risk: Hedge fund managers consider cryptocurrencies risky assets mainly because they are vulnerable to hackers and digital theft.

Niche asset: Hedge funds consider cryptocurrencies as niche assets that cannot yet be seriously considered for large scale investments.

Clients: Hedge funds are still finding it difficult to convince their clients to invest in cryptocurrencies. Their clients still prefer traditional investments in assets like gold.

Fears of a bubble: Hedge funds are reluctant to invest in cryptocurrencies because they are not yet convinced that the rally since the beginning of the year is not a bubble. Thus, they wait in order to see what happens.
Factors that may change the situation

In brief, the situation can be changed if cryptocurrencies become more mainstream. For example, if large multinational banks and other financial institutions start providing services like the settlement of cryptocurrencies, perceptions might change and more people may be convinced to invest in them.

I guess it is the above reasons that many people don't invest in cryptocurrencies.

Hype on Digibyte? https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@lepton/...necraft-warning

Digibyte vs. Minecraft (WARNING)

QUOTE
In recent weeks I noticed a huge hype around Digibyte and its future connection with Minecraft. Thanks to the vague Twitter announcement and countdown microsite people got crazy and the value skyrocketed. Many people invested serious amounts of money in Digibyte just because of Minecraft connection and because: „Millions of players will soon be introduced to Digibyte!". Also many fortune-teller youtubers are screaming that Digibyte will reach 1$ in near future just because of Minecraft launch. So I was suspicious about it and tried to find more info…

Don't get me wrong I also own a bit of Digi and I believe it can be successful in the future. BUT THE HYPE AROUND MINECRAFT IS NONSENSE! There is absolutely no connection between Digibyte and Minecraft developer Mojang. Guys from Digibyte are just starting their own server where you can play and earn Digibyte by mining blocks in survival mode. Which is very nice and it will probably boost the coin but its nowhere close to what most of these investors expect (incorporating Digibyte as an in-game currency for all players). So in reality 99% of normal Minecraft players will never know about it. Also the server is not a new thing. It was running before and now its just launching again after update.

The whole thing seems to be just a big misunderstanding. Continue supporting Digibyte if you like it just please don't believe the hype around Minecraft and everything they say about huge playerbase, number of Minecraft copies sold worldwide etc. And don't quit your day job yet biggrin.gif

Read their official statement:
We don't have any relationship with Mojang nor Microsoft. This is just a server meant for everyone to play on many devices (PC, Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi 3 and more!). You will basically earn DigiByte for playing minigames and for selling diamonds which you mined in Survival. You can also buy Ranks (mostly cosmetics) with your earned DigiByte or with real money (credit card, bank). If you would like to have a chat contact me on Telegram @LaurynasHQ or on Twitter @laurynasc111 smile.gif

Another one : https://www.reddit.com/r/Digibyte/comments/...with_minecraft/

Note : I unloaded another 10% based on this news. Will see what happens after this.....

Afaik there are 2 types of btc debit card at the moment; one's balance is in btc so it'll be converted as soon as you swipe it, and the other one is locked into USD when you load btc on it. This seems like a hybrid
Saw the news earlier this week. Didn't buy the news. The hype is real tho.. Trade volume has exceeded ETH laugh.gif

Personally I think RDD is more promising than this integration with minecraft
*
Come to think about the news on DGB, now I don't like the sound of it. Sold another 10% and I still have left 100%. Lol.....

They are just using minecraft on their server to incorporate DGB in it. I don't know how it works but it seems you have to play on their server to get that function. It is not incorporating DGB in the actual game that is played by millions.

Now I'm getting ready some BTC for the next red wave. rclxms.gif

I was surprised at its meteoric rise. Pleasantly though.
Let's see where this leads to...
*
I think we all observed that. That's how crazy cryptoland is. wink.gif

Anyway, as mentioned, I don't like the sound of DGB news. Too much hype. Will sell off more if it still goes up.

June 10 is the date. If this is a P&D, expect a sell-off just before it comes out. However, in cryptoland, you'll never know.... maybe it will shoot to the moon! sweat.gif

The last time cryptos was at 90B, the whole market crashed. Almost similar in mood to current situation prior to the crash. Let's see whether cryptos can get past this barrier...... smile.gif

Not so much. Initially bought in at 11k sats then 4 - 5 times more on the rise. I think the last buy in was 75k sats. Might buy in again once it stabilize. Now just watching at the sides.

In principle, I don't think it is useful to mention amount/value on the internet. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm actually waiting for the next crash to buy in again. This time I'm prepared. Go up or go down is fine with me! smile.gif

You certainly have a good eye for alts kmarc.

Managed to snatch some Stratis when it was on a dip, not as cheap as yours but ok la, got some pocket money. smile.gif
*
Great! thumbup.gif

No la, I'm just lucky to be in the FOMO and HODL group. When I started cryptos, I was thinking "What the *bleep*??!!??", altcoins just getting huge pumps and unbelievable gains! That's why I ended up with 40+ altcoins. sweat.gif I was thinking I just need one or two of them to shoot to the moon but it seems that one after the other decided to shoot to the moon. The other thing was the importance of HODL and not just be happy with two or three digit gains, instead, topping up when the coin have generated an acceptable gain. Of course, this topping up sometimes lead to buying at the top but cryptos tend to recover and shoot higher! I told myself no matter what, I'm going to HODL and not be in situation that I regretted selling my coins. Bitcoin helped in that sense every time I think about the 10,000 bitcoins for one pizza. So far, I have only sold all my shadowcoin, nautilus and another one I can't remember. Of course, it was a frenzy reading up on altcoins and spending time in the trollbox but it really helped me decide on which coins to top up. You can really get good links and news in trollbox! sweat.gif

I still firmly believe that we should HODL on to altcoins unless there are bad news. Don't be happy with small gains. Don't chase when everything is green and most importantly, don't gamble everything on a bet. If I were a high-risk investor, I would have been a multi-millionaire by now but I have no regrets that I'm not. Invest safely is my motto and I believe I will get there in the end. Cryptos is still in its infancy! thumbup.gif Of course, there's the question of people screaming "SCAM!" and cryptos in a bubble ready to burst but I tend to think we are still in the early stages.

For now, I have run out of ideas on what to do. Instead, just trading at the sides and become loan-shark. biggrin.gif

Oh.... the above are my 0.000002 BTC opinion and views only. tongue.gif

Why not? Poloniex used to have 80+ coins before they mass delist 21 coins. One of my coins was delisted (VOX) and it dropped 60-70% in less than an hour. Luckily Bittrex also has VOX. I just transferred VOX over to bittrex and it has more or less regained it's value.

Since that mass delisting, I transferred some funds to Bittrex so that I can distribute my funds. However, majority of funds is still in Polo.

It's because of mempool problem due to the sudden tremendous increase in traffic for Siacoin. Here's more info : https://www.reddit.com/r/siacoin/comments/6...ex_withdrawals/

Your coins are probably stuck somewhere, either it never left the wallet or stuck on Polo.

Cryptos still at its usual self with market cap at 90B again. Let's see how long before it reaches 100B or whether it will crash like last time again.

Bitcoin going to USD 2500 again and I'm ready for the red army to come this time. bruce.gif Do remember that bitcoin multiplies the effect of altcoins so it is not a problem if bitcoin rises. More info in front page post #5.

I think there is a section dedicated to folding somewhere here...
*
I have no idea. Maybe only now people found out about siacoin. Another reason could be that there's not much roadblocks compared to when it was at 50 sats. Last time, to get to 100 sats saw a 600 BTC roadblock while the path to 150 sats saw a 1,500 BTC roadblock!!!!

I can't advise you on siacoin anymore. It is now at 12th place with 444 million market cap!!!! I do wish siacoin is eventually successful but that's supposed to be another 1-2 YEARS! As it is now, i feel fundamentals doesn't justify the price but you know how cryptos are... we have observed time and again where you can throw fundamentals out the window........

And I saw the volume has surpassed ethereum and only second to digibyte
Maybe more money is pouring in, that's why easier to get over the blocks
As more money goes in if take an average of distribution all coins will see a rise in volume
as unlikely for people to concentrate on the big names only
At current price I feel it's still a good buy
But that is my opinion only, not back by any kind of analysis. Not even noob analysis
*
I dont know. My opinion as above.

If people just look at the sats, it looks real cheap. But when you take market cap into consideration, it is not that cheap. Now the question is, how many take market cap into consideration?

QUOTE(soonming @ Jun 4 2017, 05:21 PM)

There's some info in front page on your questions, #5 post.

I'm not a pro in trading but more of a long term investor. I think bitcoin will still go up. India is making a decision in 1-2 months and i think many are waiting for this decision. My feeling is that India will accept bitcoin provided it is regulated. If accepted, the price will probably rise further. Bitcoin is also in the midst of settling it's scaling issue. August 1st is the date to watch. Howevee, many thinks the problem wont be so easily settled.

Ethereum is the next world wide web. It has huge amounts of progress and support. The value, however, is anybody's guess. If bitcoin is the benchmark, ETH price is still low.

If you get both, i think you cant go wrong in the long term. My 0.00002BTC opinion only wink.gif
