QUOTE(wengherng @ Jun 5 2017, 10:21 AM)

Actually, come to think of it, the number should be lower, since I did not account for my holdings in other coins. If Bitcoin goes ballistic as many experts predicted, I might be able to retire hopefully within the next 10 years? (All these talks about bitcoin reaching USD 100,000 and all)
Whatever I have will definitely be much much lower than your holdings, because I was "kiasi" and did not listen to you when you were buying all the various altcoins earlier which have skyrocketed several thousand percent profit...... cry.gif

I was thinking of opening the new thread once it reaches 250 pages, but not to worry, I think we can wait till you're back (actually I just came back from vacation myself).
What I'll do is, I will open the thread with a few "reserved" empty posts on the first page, and then we can populate them in the same manner we did with this thread. Sounds OK to you?
*
Roger that. Will let you know when I'm free.

Gosh, many coins making a run, BTC above usd 2500! Cryptos will hit 100 B soon!!!

How high do you see BTCs going in the short-term ?

I have no idea! I think the next major BTC movement will be India's decision.

Whatever it is, I just need BTC to continue its slow crawl upwards! smile.gif

Good morning crazy cryptoland!!! biggrin.gif

Market cap approaching 100B and BTC is continuing its march. Remember to not hate any coin because you will lose out! If you're into cryptos, embrace them like they are your friends, because if this trend comtinues, you will profit more and more!

I have a new idea which is actually not that new biggrin.gif As you know, Bittrex has lots of coins not listed on Polo and I do have some coins there in hopes that they will get pumped if ever they are listed on Polo. Recently, you can see that because more and more money is pouring in, many altcoins on Bittrex are getting huge gains too.

Throw money at some altcoins also can probably profit! But that's not the target. I'm thinking, with hardwork, we can actually try to find more potentIal coins on Bittrex. Those that has good developers with good ideas, good progress and potential future. Of course, with so many coins on Bittrex, that will take a LOT of hardwork.

I have been concentrating on coins on Polo. I think we should channel some time/discussion to those on Bittrex. smile.gif

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Jun 6 2017, 08:17 AM)
If I buy BTC and ETH from someone i might as well transfer direct to Poloniex right? No need for Luno right?
*
If your plan is to trade on Polo, then yes, ask them to send directly to your address in Polo. If it is to keep, better keep somewhere safe not in exchanges.

QUOTE(wengherng @ Jun 6 2017, 12:36 PM)
You're incredible.
You seem to always have an unlimited amount of cash flow to keep buying altcoins.
*
No la. Past one month I only bought BTC once and had to patiently wait for the Red Sea. Also sold off some to accumulate BTC when everything green. It is a recurring cycle that so far has never failed to happen. Just have to be patient and hold down itchy hands especially when everything green.

I'm probably not going to pump in more cash anytime soon. The cash I put in is probably my limit that I'm comfortable with. Also because I can't transfer out my altcoins from exchange due to no hardware support. Thx to rising altcoins, just letting my altcoins "auto-cruise" and cashing out a bit hopefully at the top to buy again hopefully near the bottom.

Edit : ETH at 250!!!

Hehe, true also.
But life is too short to be slaving myself away in a cubicle.
I would like to travel the world more.
I still have a few places on my bucket list that I want to visit.
Sorry, what is /k?
*
Yeah, I guess if job not nice, better quit! However, I still believe having a regular stable work career is good as a whole. I think being rich but floating around doing nothing can be depressing after a while.

On top of my 40+ coins, I see some development on syscoin. I need to study more later on before putting in more. Yesterday nibbled factom and syscoin. Might put in more if syscoin looks good.

Lucky one  rclxms.gif  FCT went up this afternoon. Do you have 1ST in your bag? It just got listed on bittrex earlier this morning
*
Factom was one of the altcoins I first bought in February. I think my first 5 altcoins. It never went up much at all until recently. I added yesterday because it was rising 20+% and I needed a bit more to lend out. Haha....

Why I bought so early? I used uncle google "recommended altcoins for 2017"! biggrin.gif

Parity/Mist client with multisig wallet contract

MEW(MyEtherWallet) paper wallets

TenX blockchain wallet for spending with virtual/physical debit card, supports any crypto in the future. (This one has enormous amount of potential).

Available now on android, iOS early August

WooTz, we will be starting a new thread soon. I'm thinking of reserving a post(s) for you, to put all important info on ETH. Can? smile.gif

QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 7 2017, 08:33 AM)
Thanks. After going through all those I think I will settle with MIST.
*
Goldfries, we will be starting a new project/thread for cryptocurrencies soon. This time properly planned out. It will contain useful guides and information. I'm thinking of reserving a few post for you, to put info on mining info/videos since you are more familiar with it. Would you want that?

In addition, would be possible to pin it up once completed?

Ah crap.
I never tested my seed before I transferred my stash.
Now you got me worried......  shocking.gif
*
Me too. Would be a hassle now as I have different coins in different addresses.

QUOTE(wengherng @ Jun 7 2017, 11:13 AM)
Yup......let's do this.
Meanwhile, you think it is worthwhile to just copy/paste the entire first post into the new thread's first post?
I think it's pretty good and concise.
Or you have something else in mind?
*
I think first post should be just introduction and table of contents, then followed by the rest. The topics/subtopics are a bit disorganized. We can decide on the sequence of topics first then only put the topics in subsequent post.

Probably one post on acquiring cryptos using other denominations. I have no clue to that and probably need somebody to do that part.

Let me see what I can do to arrange the topics later when I get back.

OK sure.
As planned, once it reaches 250 pages here, I will open a new thread with a few "reserved" posts at the beginning, for this purpose.
Let's say......6 reserved posts?
*
Doesn't have to be 250 pages. Can start when I get back. Friday night or sat morning. Just open a new thread without any topics except "In process", reserve how many post you need, I will then reserve some, then WooTz for ETH and goldfries for mining.

Anybody else want to contribute any topics? smile.gif

I think these info are absolutely crucial for crypto newbies.

The kind of scams like the latest MEW clone will be ever more prevalent as the price climbs further.

Remember guys, you're responsible for your own coins

https://reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/6fr2...top_relying_on/
*
Those are very good advices. Will bookmark that link when I get back.

Reminds me that we need to have a section/post on scams. Since I'm so new and you're so old..... I mean in terms of cryptos biggrin.gif, do you want to take up that section? i.e. one ETH post and one scam post. I have not gone thru, and never would I want to, a scam or Mt Gox scenario before. smile.gif

The Ethereum community is so vast today, I don't have to write up a guide at this point, merely need to skim through a few and pick which ones that are relevant today.

Having sites that aggregate useful info and dates are necessary now.

https://timesofethereum.com

http://www.weekinethereum.com

https://www.smithandcrown.com/icos/

Just to name a few, I totally missed out on the cofound.it pre-sale! Then there's Bancor on 12th, Status on 17th and TenX sale late June.

All I can say is I'll share these links on the section, and it's up to users to keep track of the rapid developments.

Probably try to summarize some of the 50 page guide I found with a ton of spoiler tags
*
Great! Yeah, users have to be diligent too. We just have to put links for certain parts. Can't be spoon-feeding everything smile.gif

That is something that I can't answer yet. Never bothered checking on that lol

I think kmarc may be able to answer your question
*
I guess the questions has been answered. Just to stress that hardware wallet DOES NOT hold any coins. Hardware wallets only hold private keys THAT control your coins THAT is on the blockchain THAT is floating on the internet THAT can be seen by anybody. biggrin.gif

I've mentioned it a few times before. If you ever lost your hardware wallet together with the recovery seed, you lose control of your coins. You can still see the address that holds the coins but it will be untouchable and floating on the blockchain for all eternity. Scary thought......

QUOTE(Chelsea-Fan @ Jun 7 2017, 10:10 PM)
Do i need to backup the private keys on another pc or hardware wallet in case i lost the original hardware wallet?

I dont understand if you dont have any backup, how to recover them in the first place because the file is lost together with the hardware wallet.
*
If I understand hardware wallets correctly, you don't have to backup any private keys as the 24-word recovery seed IS your private keys. When you enter the 24-word recovery seed to any new hardware wallet, it will decrypt the 24-word to generate your true private key. That's why it doesn't matter even if you lose a hardware wallet. Just buy a new one, enter the 24-word recovery seed, and presto, your new wallet holds your private keys.

You just have to make sure you backup your backup of your backup 24-word recovery seed. biggrin.gif

More info on post #4.

QUOTE(TheReaderReads @ Jun 7 2017, 10:56 PM)
how does the new ledger devise recognise my old backup number? meaning there is a chip that stores all customer's SEED in the system?

meaning there is still way to hack the system to get those customer's SEED and buy a new devise to get into that private key to the coin and withdraw it by hackers?

laugh.gif

yup, another question from me

Answer as above.
